私と夫Rは長瀞 (ナガトロ) へ日帰り旅行をしました。

1) 長瀞駅へ再び / Again Nagatoro Station

私達のツアーは、秩父鉄道、秩父本線の'SLパレオエクスプレス'に

乗って、長瀞駅から秩父駅へ行きました。

'SLパレオエクスプレス'については下記。

❶ 2019年11月23日 パレオエクスプレス - 日帰旅行 / PALEO

秩父駅で待っていてくれた観光バスに乗車し、再び、長瀞駅 (駐車場) に戻りました。

予定では、秩父駅から親鼻駅 (オヤハナエキ) までバス、そこから

 '長瀞ライン下り' をするはずでしたが、雨のため 'ライン下り 'は、

ナシ！

残念！

観光名所の岩畳 (イワダタミ) にバスと徒歩で行きました。

岩畳は、長瀞渓谷 (ナガトロケイコク) にあります。

Our tour took 'SL PALEO EXPRESS' on Chichibu Main Line by the Chichibu Railway,  from Nagatoro Station to Chichibu Station.

❶ 2019年11月23日 パレオエクスプレス - 日帰旅行 / PALEO

We got on our coach that was waiting for us at Chichibu Station and returned to Nagatoro Station again.

The plan was to take our coach from Chichibu Station to 

Oyahana Station, and then take Nagatoro Rhein Boat Trip.

We were supposed to do it, but because of the rain, we couldn't have the Boat Trip!

That's too bad!

We went by coach and on foot to Iwadatami Rocks ; a horizontal sheet of rock, a tourist attraction.

'Iwadatami Rocks' is located in Nagatoro Keikoku ; Nagatoro Gorge or Nagatoro Valley.

この荒川の先には東京湾があるのですね〜。

There is Tokyo Bay at the end of this Arakawa River.

2) 長瀞渓谷 / Nagatoro Gorge

A. 長瀞 / Nagatoro

長瀞渓谷は、荒川上流部にあり、全長約6kmです。

"長瀞"名称で、国の名勝及び天然記念物に指定され天然記念物の名所に指定されています。

瀞 : とろとは、川の水に浸食されてできた深い淵 (フチ) で、流れがゆるやかな所を意味します。

この渓谷は、岩畳など岩石の間を緩やかな流れ（瀞）が長く続くことから、長瀞と呼ばれてきました。

岩畳
岩畳は、長さ500mの岩層で、岩が畳のように重なり合って
いるように見えることから、岩畳と名付けられました。
三波川変成帯 (サンバガワヘンセイタイ)と呼ばれる
変成岩帯(ヘンセイガンタイ)が地表に露出しています。

 'Iwadatami Rocks'

 'Iwadatami Rocks' is a 500m long rock layer, 

and was named Iwadatami because the rocks appear

to overlap like tatami mats which is a type of mat used 

as a flooring material in traditional Japanese-style rooms. 

A metamorphic rock zone (Henseigantai) called 

the Sanbagawa Metamorphic Belt (Sambagawa Henseitai) 

is exposed on the surface of the earth.

Nagatoro

The Nagatoro Gorge is located in the upper reaches of the Arakawa River and has a total length of about 6 km.

There is designated as a National Scenic Spot and a Natural Monument.

Toro is a deep pool created by being eroded by the water of a river, and means a place where the flow is gentle.

This gorge has been called Nagatoro because of the long (naga) gentle flow (toro)  between rocks such as Iwadatami Rocks.

B. 地球の窓/ Earth Window

下記、ジオパーク秩父のサイトより

"長瀞一帯は、海底に堆積した火山噴出物と泥や砂が、白亜紀

(約8000万年前頃) にプレートと共に地下20～30km以上深くに取り

込まれ、膨大な圧力が加わってできた結晶片岩でできています。

結晶片岩はうすくパイ生地のように剥がれやすい岩石です。"

"地球の窓"

岩畳をはじめ地下深くの高圧下で形成された

結晶片岩 (ケッショウヘンガン) が地表に露出し、

地球内部を地質学的に垣間見ることができるので、

"地球の窓"とも呼ばれます。

"Earth Window"
Crystalline Schist formed under high pressure deep underground,
including Iwadatami Rocks, is exposed on the surface of the earth
and gives a geological glimpse of the inside of the earth,
 so it is also called an "Earth Window".

According to Chichibu Geopark Website, 

"The entire Nagatoro region is made of crystalline schist, which was formed as a result of volcanic products, mud, and sand deposited on the sea bed that was blended with the oceanic plate 20–30km or deeper underground in the Cretaceous period (approx. 80 million years ago) and exposed to enormous pressure. 

Crystalline schist is a thin layer of rock like a pie sheet that can be easily peeled off."

下記、ジオパーク秩父のサイトより

"岩畳は結晶片岩が荒川の流れによって侵食されてできた河成段丘 (カガンダンキュウ)です。

断層の動きで岩石が砕かれ、本来あるはずの川原の礫（れき）に覆われておらず、岩盤がむき出しになっている。

侵食されずに残った対岸の岩壁が「秩父赤壁」と呼ばれている。"

"秩父赤壁"
赤壁の名前は中国、長江の赤壁 (赤壁の戦い / 208年)
に由来します。

『三国志』(三国志演義) の中では、
吉川英治 (ヨシカワ エイジ / 1892 -1962) 版
の関羽が好きです。

"Chichibu Sekiheki" : "Chichibu Red Cliff"
"Sekiheki" means "red wall" or "red cliff".
The name of 'Sekiheki' comes from
the Red Cliffs (Battle of Red Cliffs in 208)
in the Battle of Red Cliffs, China.
So this similar cliff in Nagatoro was named after the spot.

In "Romance of the Three Kingdoms",
 I like Guan Yu of Eiji Yoshikawa (1892 -1962)'s version 

According to Chichibu Gio Park Website, 

"Iwadatami (a horizontal sheet of rock) is a river terrace that came into existence as a result of erosion of crystalline schist caused by water flowing from Arakawa River. Movements of faults have crushed the rock, and thus the area does not have the gravel that is supposed to cover the riverbed, resulting in an exposed bedrock. 

The rock cliff on the opposite shore that remained without being eroded is called Chichibu Red Cliff."

C. 紅葉 / Autumn Colours

紅葉は綺麗です。
川と岩と紅葉がドラマチックでした。

The autumn colours are beautiful.
The river, rocks and autumn leaves were dramatic.







晴れの日には違う美があるでしょうけれど、
小雨の風景は素敵な雰囲気があります。
あっ！ボートが見えます....何故？

Here the  beauty will be different on a sunny day,
 but the light rainy landscape has a lovely atmosphere.
Ah! I see the boat .... why?

私達ができなかった舟下りをしています。
いいな〜.....

They are going down the river that we couldn't do.
I adore it....
