バーン＝ジョーンズは、牧師になる道を歩んでいましたが、
詩人でラファエル前派の画家、ダンテ・ゲイブリエル・ロセッティ (1828 -1882) と
ウィリアム・モリス (1834 - 1896) の影響を受け、アーティスト (ラファエル前派の
画家兼デザイナー) になりました。

ケンペは、オックスフォード大学でウィリアム・モリスに刺激を受けました。
もともとケンプは聖職者になりたかったのです。
(そういえば、バーン＝ジョーンズも牧師になりたかったのですよね...)
ですが、彼には吃音があり、それが'説教'の障害になると思い、聖職者でなく、聖域で神に奉仕をしようと思い立ち、建築の道に進みました。
ケンプは卒業後、ケンブリッジで建築の仕事があり、そこで、モリスとともに中世教会芸術と、特にステンドグラスの原理を学びました。
1866年、彼はロンドンに彼自身のスタジオを開設し、ステンドグラスと家具と祭服を作りました。

Kempe was inspired by William Morris in Oxford University.
Originally Kemp wanted to be a priest.
(Speaking of which, Bern-Jones also wanted to be a pastor ...)
However, he had stuttering and thought that it would be an obstacle to 'preaching', so he decided not to be a priest, but to serve God in the sanctuary and proceeded to the architectural way.
After graduated the University he learned the aesthetic principles of medieval church art and particularly stained glass with Morris in Cambridge.
In 1866 he opened his own studio in London, making stained glass, furniture and vestments.

Book : 『ロセッティのウォンバット』
ダンテ・ゲイブリエル・ロセッティのペット、ウォンバット("Top" )の目を通してヴィクトリア朝の人々の生活、ロセッティとモリスの妻、ジェーン・モリス (1839 -1914)とのロマンスが描かれている、娯楽本のようです。
補足として、当時、ヨーロッパの裕福層でオーストラリアの野生動物、例えばカンガルーをペットにするのが流行でした。

looks like an entertainment book, through the eyes of Dante Gabriel
Rossetti's pet,
a
wombat ("Top"), depicts the life of the Victorians and the romance between Rossetti and Morris' wife, Jane Morris (1839-1914).
As
a side note, at the time, it was popular for wealthy Europeans to keep Australian wildlife, such as kangaroos, as pets.
Rossetti also owned a small (young) African elephant and birds, but a wombat was his most favorite and was named "Top".
The cover of the book depicts his mourning when "Top" died.
