"石垣島鍾乳洞" / "Ishigaki Island Stalactite Cave"
日本最南端に位置している鍾乳洞です。
最南端ということで温度が最も高い鍾乳洞。
かつて海底に存在していたサンゴ礁が地殻変動などによって隆起してできました。
"Ishigaki Island Stalactite Cave"
It is the southernmost Stalactite Cave in Japan.
Because the Cave is the furthest south it has the highest temperature of the caves in Japan.
It was made of coral reefs that once existed on the ocean floor, which were raised due to crustal deformation etc.

新興宗教のお寺か、沖縄 (琉球王国の) お城に入って行くような気持ちになります。
それは異文化を感じるからでしょうか？
観光として、この門の存在は、とても成功しているように思います。
Gate of "Ishigaki Island Stalactite Cave"
The Gate makes me feel we are going into a temple of an emerging religion,
or a castle of the Okinawa (Ryukyu Kingdom).
Is my feeling because I already feel a different culture?
As a sightseeing attraction, I think that the existence of this Gate is very successful.

門の前に
なぜヤギが？と疑問に思いつつも、丸窓からヤギを見ました。
私のようにヤギを見る人も、見ずに門へ入って行く人もいました。
Before the Gate
The
sign board says 'Goat Hut・Please
feel free to look'.
Why goat? While wondering, I saw goats through a round window.
Before
the Gate, like me, some people looked at the goats
but others did not look.

| 鍾乳洞への門を通ると下ります。 We went down through the Gate to the Cave. |

| この鍾乳洞は1994年に一般公開されました。 通路は非常によく整備され、ライトも適所に配置されています。 冒険家にはがっかりする整備のされ方でしょうけれど、 一般観光客には親切です。 This cave was opened to the public in 1994. The paths are very well maintained and lights are in place as well. It would be disappointing for adventurers, but it is kind to general tourists. |
鍾乳洞での撮影は私には難しくて、面白いと感じた風景や形を写真に残すことがほとんどできませんでした。

Photographing in the Stalactite Cave was hard for me and I could not capture a landscape or a shape in my photographs that I felt was interesting even though I tried many times.
I show you photographs here which I feel are alright.

炭酸カルシウムを含んだ地下水が上から落ち、
下で沈殿したものが接着しています。
Groundwater
containing calcium carbonate has fallen from above
and
the deposits are adhering.

| 私には仏像に見えます。 鐘乳石の形は、角度によって、光によって、違って見えます。 人によっても何に見えるか？というのも様々でしょう。
It looks like a Buddha statue for me.
The shapes of stalactites appear different by angle and depending on the light.
Will different people have different images? |

水琴窟の部屋
'天然の'といっても、受け皿は人の手によって設置されたものです。
最初に誰が水琴窟を考え出したのか知りませんが、
風流な娯楽で、これを考え出すのは、さすが日本人！
と思うのは自画自賛でしょうか？
Suikinkutsu
Room
though
there are some natural Suikinkutsu in the Room in the Cave.
Although
saying 'natural', the saucers were set by the hand of people.
Water
drips through the hole at the top onto a small pool of water inside
the pot,
creating
a pleasant splashing sound that rings inside the pot similar, to a
bell
I
do not know who first devised 'Suikinkutsu', but it is an
elegant entertainment!
which definitely originated in
Japan.
What
do you think about my thought? Is this Japanese-self-praise?

ここをハイライトとして、扱っているようでした。
小さなライトでライティングして観光客を喜ばせます。
写真ではわかりませんが、ここは広いです。
They seem to treat here as a highlight. Lighting with small lights will make tourists happy.
We
cannot see with this photograph, but here is wide.

| 一瞬の一滴か、20万年の一滴か？ One drop a moment, or a drop of 200 thousand years? |
鍾乳石が伸びるのが日本一早いと言われています。
なぜかというと、亜熱帯気候で雨が多く地上の微生物の働きが活発で、多くの二酸化炭素をつくり出していることと、隆起サンゴ礁で石灰岩の密度が粗いためだそうです。
It is said that the stalactites growth-rate is the fastest in Japan.
It is because subtropical climate, heavy rain, the activity of microorganisms in the ground is high, creating a lot of carbon dioxide and the density of the limestone is low, because of the raised coral reef.

非常に面白い鍾乳洞でした。
私たちが見終わったのは、ツアー参加者の最後か最後に近かったと思います。 鍾乳洞を出ると夕飯の場所になっていました。 ほとんどの人はすでに食べていました。
It was a very interesting cave.
I think when we finished looking at it,
we were nearly the last or the last of our tour participants.
We left the cave, there was a place for dinner.
Most people had already eaten. |

| 夕飯 メインのおかずは、やいま牛、グルクン (タカサゴ) の唐揚げ。 Dinner The main dishes are Yaima Beef and Gurukan (Takasago: double-lined fusilier). |
お土産の参考にしようと思い、撮影しました。
とくに、"ヒバーチ"に興味を惹かれました。 写真・真ん中の"ヒバーチ"はシナモンを主体としたミックススパイスのようでした。
実際は1種類、"ヒバーチ" : "ヒハツモドキ" という植物を胡椒として使用されています。
結局、どれも買いませんでしたが...。
'ヒバーチ'、自分用に1つ買えばよかったかしら？
I thought this photograph was for reference of souvenirs.
I am especially interested in "Hibarch": "Long Pepper" : "Piper Retrofractum"
in the middle.
"Hibarch" seemed to be mixed spices, mainly cinnamon.
In fact, it is one, a plant is called Vivace which is used like pepper.
In the end, I did not buy anything ....
"Hibarch" ; should I have bought one for me?
