東京現代美術館

私が英国滞在中に友人が『東京現代美術館のキューレイターの
長谷川祐子さんがNHKプロフェッショナル仕事の流儀に出演したCD』を送ってくれました。

その番組はとても興味深い内容でした。

私が渡英後に開設された東京現代美術館にとても興味が ありながらも私は行く事ができませんでした。

2008年、母の看病に一時帰国した機会に、初めて東京現代美術館を
訪ねました。

当時、母の看病で心身ともに疲労をしていましたが、この美術館によってとても回復されたのでした。

私にとっては癒しの空間がそこにはありました。

企画展は "川俣正[通路]" を開催しており、常設展、美術館の建物、
ガイドツアーをとても楽しみ、私は6、7時間も滞在してしまったでしょうか？レストランも開放的で寛ぐことができました。

本帰国後、再びこの美術館を訪ねたいと思いつつ、なかなか実現できませんでしたが、ついに行く事ができ、会員にもなってしまいました！

Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo

While I lived in Britain, my friend sent a CD with an NHK broadcast about a great curator Yuko Hasegawa who is Head Curator Museum of Contemporary. 

The program was very interesting for me. 

The museum was opened after I went to Britain, so I had not been able to visit there.

I really wanted to go there. I had a chance when I returned to Japan to look after my mother who was seriously ill. 

The first time I visited there, I enjoyed a special exhibition 
"Tadashi Kawamata`Passage`", and the general exhibition including a guided tour and the museum building or the space. 

I stayed there for maybe 6 or 7 hours. 

I really relaxed in the restaurant, too.

The space of the museum was healing for me, at that time when I was not well.

In other words the museum made me fine.

After I came back to Japan, I wanted to visit the museum, although it was difficult for me to do so until now. 

Finally I could visit and I have even become a member of the museum.

私にとっては、ファッションというソフトな世界にテクノロジーを盛り込んだ世界や、何を表現するにしても『美』ということを忘れずにいる事、ファッションを自己表現のみに留まらず、社会批判として
用いている事などがかなり印象的でした。

彼の『ナルニア国物語/第1章:ライオンと魔女』（2005年）の映像を見落としたのが残念でした。

私には企画展の2階で上映されていたフィルムが一番心に残っています。

フセインと私の生きてきた環境があまりに違うので、他の彼の思想に共鳴しずらいのかもしれません。

単に足腰の弱っている私には、座って集中して見られたせいかもしれませんが＜苦笑＞。

そのフイルムには違うもの（文化であれ、力であれ）を持つ人が違うものをもつ人を追い立てて、破壊してゆく流れが表現されていました。

小さなプライベートのいざこざで他人を攻撃するものも、人の命を奪う攻撃の戦争もあるけれども、その根源は一緒で、人間の他に対する支配力や所有欲、優越感であると私は理解しました。

人間の残酷な部分ですね。

この映像の最後は、ファッションショーのフィナーレの実写で、
ハンマーを持つ３人のモデルが、それぞれの隣に立つ３人の、異素材(固いプラスティック、ガラス質のようなもの)でできている洋服をたたき割ります。

そこがとても斬新な感じがしました。

またその破壊の仕方は大きな程度、中くらいの程度、小さな程度と違いがあり、一様にしないとろこが、それぞれの人間の相違を表しており、攻撃性においても個性があると表現しているのだと思いました。

ひにくなこといその攻撃によって、新しい服の形がデザインされてもいます。

そのような考え方がファンション世界にあっていると私は思いました。

１階でも大画面でファッションショーが上映されていました。

このフィナーレも印象的、モデルの服が自動的にはぎ取られて裸体になってしまうのです。

テクノロジーが発達して、現在はこんなこともできるようになっているのですね〜！

ただこれは、私はネットでリサーチした時に既に知っていたので印象が薄れたのかもしれません。

また私にとっては、結構怖くも感じました。

何故かと言えば、私達が気がつかないうちにテクノロジーが私達の人生に関与し、誰かが私達をコントロールしているのではないかと感じたからです。

常設展示を見る時間があまりとれず、こちらはひとつひとつに時間がかけられず、映像も見ることもできませんでした。

それでも、展示は楽しんで観ましたし、リフレッシュできました。

I am impressed that he uses high technology for fashion which is quite a soft world, his work uses a lot of media, however, always with beauty. 

I think fashion is a form of self-expression, and I think his work is also satirical. 

His satirical thoughts were difficult for me to sympathize with even though I read the explanations about his work. 

I think because my life and Husseins' are very different, maybe because I was brought up in peaceful Japan.

I missed the section "Narnia part 1: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe."

The section I was interested in the most was the film shown on the first floor. 

The film is mixed animation and fashion show. 

I understood it more easily than the others. 

Maybe when I watched the film, I could sit down on a bench, 
so I could concentrate on it, because sitting down is less painful for my small back and leg (wry smile). 

Anyway, the film shows us that people who have different thoughts, technology or culture or power, try to drive out other people from their established positions. 

Sometimes of course those who are attacked resist. 

This can be on a small scale between pupils in a class up to a large scale war between countries. 

The reasons are human's desire for control or other people's position or a sense of superiority. 

I think humans should control their primitive desires with our love and education and Hussein maybe shows the thought in the same film. 

I am not sure.

The fashion show finale ended the film. 

There are three models in red dresses on the stage, another three models in white dresses are coming and each one stands next to a model in a red dress . 

The red ones each show they have a hammer which they raise and then hit the white dresses. 

It is surprising that the white dresses crack and partly fall away ; 
the material looks like plastic or ceramics. 

The three attackers use different levels of force, leaving the white dresses broken by different amounts. 

Here, I felt even the attackers each have their individual personality. 

Ironically ? the attacks made three new white dress designs. 

The idea suits the fashion design world.

On the ground floor, there was another film of a fashion show. 

The dress forms are changed even though the models do not do anything. 

The dresses appear to change automatically. 

The finale is the model wearing a large hat and a dress, as she stands there the parts of the dress disappear up into her hat, leaving her naked. 

I think I felt less impact because I knew this would happen as I had researched about Hussein by the Internet. 

For me it is quite scary, because I feel that while we do not realise it technology affects our lives and somebody controls us.

We could not have enough time for the general exhibits, although we enjoyed them as much as we could. 

I felt refreshed there.
