1) 南溟館へ / Towards Nanmei Museum of Art
A. 丘を目指して / Aiming For The Hill
私の作品が、枕崎市が主催する『第3回枕崎国際芸術賞展』に入選し、展示されることになったからです。
応募作品数1,128点 (過去最高) で、1次審査通過作品は69点で、その中に入り、62点が会場に展示されました。
会場は、枕崎市文化資料センター南溟館 (鹿児島県枕崎市山手町175番地) でした。
鎌倉に住む私には、遠い場所です。

ですが、私が公募展へ応募するのもまれであり、入選も展示もまれなことに思えたので、行くことにしました。

Aiming For The Hill
My older sister Y and I went on a trip to Makurazaki City, Kagoshima Prefecture.
This is because one of my works has been selected and exhibited in 'The 3rd Makurazaki International Art Award Exhibition' organized by Makurazaki City.
Of the 1,128 entries (a record high), 69 passed the first screening, and 62 of them were exhibited in a venue.
The venue was Nanmei Museum of Art (175 Yamate-cho, Makurazaki City, Kagoshima Prefecture).
For me who lives in Kamakura, it is a distant place.
However, it was rare for me to apply for public exhibitions, and I thought it would be rare for me to be selected and exhibited, so I decided to go.

看板の横に設置してある作品 (下の画像) の奇妙さに驚きました。
コンクールでは、インパクトというのは、かなり重要なのだと再認識させられました。

I was surprised by the strangeness of the work, above, installed next to the signboard.
The work made me re‐recognize that 'impact' is quite important in a competition.
In this section, there are Japanese explanations (which come from their website) about the works I photographed, however, I will not translate to English, sorry.
B. 丘の上から / From The Hill

トンビ とんびだと思って撮影しました。 鎌倉には、トンビがたくさんいますし、 我が家の前の電線にもよく留まっています。 トンビをみて枕崎に親近感をもちました(単純<笑>)。 Black Kite I thought it was a Black Kite and took a picture. There are many Black Kites in Kamakura, and they often stay on the cables in front of my house. When I saw the black kite, I felt a sense of closeness to Makurazaki (simple <Laugh>). |

| 丘の上から 海からキャップのように突き出ているのは、 標高42mの立神岩 (タテガミイワ)です。 岬は、火之神岬 (ヒノカミミサキ)で、 近くに火之神公園があります。 From the Hill Protruding from the sea like a cap is the Tategami Rock, which is 42 metres above sea level. The cape is Hinokami Cape, and Hinokami Park is nearby.  立神岩 / Tategami Rock 画像は下記より / This from below |
C. 火之神公園 / Hinokami Park
枕崎駅に案内板があり、そのことが書かれてあり、構内には、山彦像があります。
また、写真では判断できませんが、公園内には、'平和祈念展望台' があります。
よって、展望台には、'戦艦大和殉難鎮魂之碑' があります。
天気が良ければ、火之神公園まで行こうかと思っていましたが、雨が時々降ったので、わたくち達は、観光名所の1つであるこの公園へは行きませんでした。
鹿児島空港から枕崎へバスで来る途中に、旧加世田市を通りました。
加世田には、最後の特攻隊の出撃地、万世飛行場が吹上浜にありました。
日本の南端には、終戦時の海軍・空軍の末期の状態が記される場所があることを実感しました。
現在、その場所が平和を祈る記念碑があったり、平和である証拠のイベント、展覧会開催があったりしています。
平和の中で、イベントや展覧会がいつまでも続く社会であるように、私たちは、生活の中での選択を注意深くしなければならないと感じます。

Hinokami Park
Hinokami Park is known as a place related to "Umi-hiko and Yama-hiko".
There is an information board at Makurazaki Station, and there is a statue of Yama-hiko in the station.
In Japan, we have been familiar with the myth, "Umi-hiko and Yama-hiko" since we are children.
The explanation board says Kago coast ; Makurazaki coast is a place related to "Umi-hiko and Yama-hiko".
According to Wiki About Yamasachihiko,
"Hoori (火折尊, Hoori no Mikoto), also known as Hikohohodemi no Mikoto (彦火火出見尊), is a figure in Japanese mythology, the third and youngest son of Ninigi-no-Mikoto and the blossom princess Konohanasakuya-hime.
He is one of the ancestors of the Emperors of Japan as the grandfather of Emperor Jimmu.
He is also known as Yamasachi-hiko (山幸彦)."
Also, although you can't tell from the photo, there is a 'Peace Prayer Observatory' in the park.
About 200 km south of the observatory, the Battleship Yamato sank.
There is a 'Battleship Yamato Monument' at the observatory.
If the weather was good, we thought we would go to Hinokami Park, but it rained occasionally, so we didn't go to the park, which is one of the tourist attractions.
On the way from Kagoshima Airport to Makurazaki by bus, we passed through the former Kaseda city.
In Kaseda, the last Tokkōtai (Kamikaze) squadron site, Bansei Airfield, was located in Fukiagehama, and now there is the Bansei Tokkō Peach Museum (★ ) on the site.
I realized that there is a place in the southern tip of Japan where the final state of the navy and air force at the end of the war is recorded.
Currently, there are monuments to pray for peace, and there are events and exhibitions held to prove that the place is peaceful.
Just as we live in a peaceful society where events and exhibitions go on forever, I feel that I or we must carefully make choices in my or our lives.

Blue Sky Art Museum
There are many sculptures installed outside the Nanmei Museum of Art.
Sculptures are installed not only outside the Museum, but also in the town of Makurazaki.
In Makurazaki City, the three-dimensional works of the "Wind Art Exhibition" are installed throughout the city, making the city itself an 'Aozora Museum': 'Blue Sky Museum' ; Map: ★.
During my exhibition in April, I had already decided on 'Wind' as the theme for my next exhibition.
(That may change.)
So, I looked at the many works installed in the city of ''Aozora Museum': 'Blue Sky Museum' with interest and was moved by the link.

私は、"どれどれ" が、 屋外展示の中で、一番好きでした。
立体作品は、見る角度で作品の表情が変化します。
どこかできっと1列に見えるはずだと推測し、撮影しつつその角度さがし、その角度を見つけました。
こういう行為は、私にとっては、'どこどこ' で、"どれどれ" 作品との会話であったと理解しています。
楽しい会話でした。
Conversation With The Work
Of all the outdoor exhibitions, I liked "Dore Dore" the most.
The expression of the three-dimensional work changes depending on the viewing angle.
I guessed that it should look like a line somewhere, so I looked for the angle while I photographed, and found the angle.
I understand that this kind of act was 'Doko Doko' : 'where and where' as well as being like a conversation with 'Dore Dore'.
The conversation was fun.

Both Y and I remembered the ceramic work, above, installed in the garden of Daikokuya : ★ in Nasushiobara, Tochigi Prefecture.
According to Wiki about Daikokuya,
restaurant in Nasushiobara city, Japan founded in 1551."
南溟館入り口付近の作品は、ほぼ丘の頂上に設置されています。
The works near the Museum Entrance are mostly installed at the top of the hill.

この作品は、作品そのものと設置された環境から、バーススパ大学の庭に設置されていた作品 (下の画像) を思い出しました。
This work reminded me of a work that was installed in the garden of the University of Bath Spa, below, both in terms of the work itself and the environment in which it was installed.
