❺2017年9月15日Rの友人と - 夕飯 / With R's Friends - Dinner, 15th of September, 2017

ブリッジノース/ Bridgnorth を離れ、夕飯を食べにパブに行きました。

We left Bridgnorth and went to a pub to have dinner.

The Inn at Shipley : ★

もと農場であった場所をパブにしたように感じました。

なぜなら、トラクター (下の写真) が庭にディスプレイされていたからですが

本当のこところはわかりません。

I felt it was a pub which was originally a farm,

because, a tractor (below) is displayed in the garden,

though I do not know.

たくさん、ビール
なるべくローカルの作り手のビールを選びますが、
英国のパブでは飲み比べをさせてれるので、
最終的には好きなあじのものを注文しました。

Many Beers

If I can I choose a local beer.

 In British pubs we are usually able to compare sample drinks,

eventually I ordered what I liked.

このお店では定期的にビールの種類を入れ替えているそうです。

They seem to regularly change the choice of beers.

お店はとても混んでいました。成功しているパブですね。

The pub was very crowded. It is a successful pub, isn't it?

私もRも同じものを選びましたが、何を選んだか、覚えていません (苦笑)。

美味しくいただきました。

I and R chose the same thing, I do not remember what I chose (Wry smile).

We enjoyed them.

Jはハンバーガーを注文 / J had a hamburger.

SとRは、"フィッシュ・アンド。チップス"。
S and R had 'Fish and Chips'.

ラム・シャンク
かなりの確率で、英国での外食は、ラム・シャンクを注文します。
今まで行ったパブやレストランで食べたラム・シャンクは
どこも美味しかったです。ここのものも、美味しかった！

 Lamb Shank

Often, when eating out in Britain I order a lamb shank.

The lamb shanks I have eaten in pubs 

and restaurants up to now were delicious everywhere.

This, here was also delicious!

聖レオナルド教会周辺 / Surrounding St Leonard's Church

ブリッジノース/ Bridgnorth の "聖レオナルド教会" は、今日、教会としての機能は
なく、建物のみ保存されています。

建物は、英国の国家遺産リスト / National Heritage List for England に、'イギリス指定建造物'の2級指定として、記録され、教会保全信託 / Churches Conservation Trustによって維持されています。

Today, St. Leonard Church in Bridgnorth has no function as a church, it is only preserved as a building.

It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England, as a designated Grade II listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.

とても綺麗に保存されているように感じます。
I feel it is preserved very beautifully.

They were established in 1687, still now they help people.

素敵な建物です。/ It is a nice building.

木彫像がおもしろい / Wooden Carvings are interesting.

ドアノックが好きなので、おもしろいものを見つけると撮影しています。
I like door-knockers, so when I find an interesting one I photograph.

S とJとR
雨降りが心配な天気だったので、J は、大きな傘を持ち歩いてくれました。
結局、使用せずにすみました。
優しい心遣いに感謝！

A. キャッスル・ガーデン / Castle Garden
城の敷地 / Castle Grounds は、1956年にフォスター市長 (?-?) によってブリッジノース/ Bridgnorth の町に寄付されました。

('花咲く英国' とでも訳すのでしょうか？）
というお花のコンテストが行われています。
ブリッジノースは過去に金賞を獲得していて、カテゴリー別の部門でもいくつか賞に入っています。

Bridgnorth has won the gold prize in the past, even in departments by category
they have won several awards.

B. ブリッジノース城 / Bridgnorth Castle

1101年にロバート・デ・ベルメ/ Robert de Belleme (1056頃 - 1130頃) が彼の城をここに作ったのが、ブリッジノース城 / Bridgenorth Castle のはじまりです。

ロバート・デ・ベルメは、フランスのモンゴメリー伯爵 / Roger de Montgomery (? -1094) の息子で、父を引き継いでシューズベリー伯爵になりました。

城の大きな特徴である四角い塔は、ヘンリー2世 (1133 -1189 / 在位: 1154 -1189) の治世中に建設されました。

今日、お城で残されている建物は、896年にデンマーク軍によって建てらた要塞部分だけです。

ブリッジノース城 /  Bridgnorth Castle 

Bridgnorth Castle
Robert de Belleme (c1056 -c1130) built a castle here in 1101.

He  was the son of the French Earl, Roger de Montgomery (? -1094) and succeeded his father to become the Earl of Shrewsbury.

Its principal feature, a square tower, was built during the reign of 
Henry II (1133 -1189 / r1154 -1189).

Today, the Castle Keep is the only remaining part of the fortress built by a Danish army in 896.

2) マーケット・タウン / Market Town

ベルメ伯が城を作って以来、町の通りは12世紀の計画に配置され、ほとんど変更されていません。

町には、畜産市場と路上市場の2つの市場と、常置の屋内市場領域と、タウンホールの下の金曜日市場があります。

Earl of Belleme built the castle and then the town streets were laid out in the 12th century and have altered little.

There are two markets - a livestock market and a street market as well as a permanent indoor market area and a Friday market under the Town Hall.

タウン・ホールは、17世紀から、ハイ・ストリートの目立つ位置にあります。

The Town Hall occupies a prominent position in the High Street
where it has stood since the 17th century.

タウン・ホール　

タウン・ホールには、1887年にビクトリア女王(1819 -1901 / 在位：1837 -1901) 
の即位50年周年祝典を記念してステンド・グラスが設置されました。

残念ながら、ステンドグラスの絵は、外からは見ることができないので、

私は建物の撮影だけしました。

タウンホールは毎年4月1日から9月30日まで開館しているので、

開館時なら見ることができるようです。

Town Hall

In the Town Hall there is a stained glass to commemorate
Queen Victoria (1819 -1901 / r 1837 -1901) 's 50th anniversary celebration : Golden Jubilee.

Unfortunately we can not see pictures on the stained glass 

from the outside, so I only photograph the building.

Since the town hall opens from 1^st of April to 30^th of September every year,

it seems that you can see it when open.
