1)鎌倉の春の始まり / The Beginning of Spring in Kamakura

3月6日の朝、今年２回めの鶯の声を聞きました。一度目は1月に聞いた覚えがありますが、それは声が発せられたという程度のものでした。

I heard the song of a bush warbler in the morning of 6th March. This was only the second time this year. I remember the first one was in January, although I cannot say the song, it was like a test.

A. 河津桜 / Kouzuszakura : A Japanese Cherry

The cherry flower 鳥居の右の河津桜も咲いてます。

Another cherry tree is on the right hand side of the gate which blossoms now too.

B. 鳥と、檜の松ぼっくり : 球果(きゅうか)

檜の松ぼっくり！(正しくは檜の球果/キュウカ)

とカメラをむけたら、鳥を見つけました。それに焦点 (上と下の写真の中央) をあわせていたら、鳥に気がつかれたのか、飛び去られてしまいました。

I found strobiles of HINOKI and I tried to take a photograph, although

I found a bird there. While I was focusing my camera on the bird (center of above and below photographs), it saw me and escaped.

鳥は河津桜のところへ降りてきました。

でもこっちのほうが撮影しやすいかも〜？

The bird flew down to the cherry : Kozuzakura, so perhaps it was easier for me to photograph the bird.

擬態しているポーズが啄木鳥のよう.......

I thought the bird pretended to be part of the tree and its pose was like a woodpecker.

下の撮影のあとは、どこかへ飛んで行ってしまいました。

この鳥をネットで調べてみましたが、私には鳥の名前は、わかりませんでした。

ヒヨドリでしょうか？？？

After this photograph, it flew away.

I researched about the bird in Internet, although I still do not know its name.

Is it a Brown-eared Bulbul???

C.アトリエキカ / Atelier Kika

アトリエキカは鎌倉宮の前にあります。雑貨屋さん兼カフェです。

Rは、1月に、このお店で柳宗理のアンティークスプーンを買いました。(下の写真) 私達のお気に入りになったスプーンです。

今は、キカさんは、お花を売っています。

Atelier Kika

Atelier Kika is in front of Kamakura-Gu. The shop sells things and manages cafe.

R bought antique spoons of Souri Yanagi here in January.(below photograph)

They become our favourite tea spoons.

Now the shop sells flowers.

３月１日ーリトグラフ工房/ Lithograph Studio, 1st of March

1) 工房 / Studio
先生にドローイング、写真を見せつつ、本日のやりたいことを説明します。森と花の作品を作りたいと思っていました。

I explained to my teacher, my plans for today while I showed him my drawings and photographs. I would make prints of "Forest" and "Flower".

写真、窓際の瓶にはメダカの赤ちゃんがいます。

There are some baby Oryzias latipes : Japanese killifish : MEDAKA in Japanese, in a bottle beside a window in below photograph.

最後まで刷って、満足がゆく状態ではなかったので、次回までに、森の絵は追加の版を、花の絵はやり直しの版を一枚づつ作ってくることにしました。

この結果は、皆さんは個展で見られま〜す！

I am not satisfied by my end prints, so I decided I will add a third plate for "Forest" and will make another plate for next time. In addition, I will redo one of the "Flower" plates for next time, too.

You can see the results in my exhibition.

2) 帰り道 / On My Way Home

工房からの帰り、お隣に雪だるまを作ったあとらしきものを発見しました。雪だるまのことを思うと寂しいけれど、お隣のお嬢さん達が作ったことを想像すると、微笑ましい気持ちがしました。

When I was on my way home from the studio, I saw some ice which

I guess were a Snowman. I feel sad about the snowman, although

I feel a heartwarming scene of the next-door girls making the snowman.

DM 到着！/ DMs Arrived!

速い！さすが日本！DMが届きました。

I have got my DMs. It was very quick. This is Japan.

向かって左: ラフ向かって左: ラフ案 / 右：DM

向かって左: Left : Draft Design, Right : Actual DM

本番の色がイメージしていたよりも、ちょっと濃かったです。でもそれは私が古いプリンターでしかも安いカラーインクでプリントアウトした、ラフ案の色を見ていたから。PC内の画面はプリントアウトしたものよりも濃いのです。

でも、とにかく、私が望んだ、やんちゃでまとまりきらない感じが表現されています。

Rie さん、ありがとう！

The DM colours are stronger than I thought they would be, because I looked at the draft design from my print out by my old printer with cheep colour inks. I should have looked at it in the screen in PC whose colours are stronger than the print.

Anyway, it shows that I hope it is expressive of mischievous and naughty and not definite.
