開花！

咲かずに伸び続けていた百合が本日開花しました。
街灯のようです。
雨足の弱くなった時を見計らって撮影しました。

Flowering！
The lily, which had been growing without blooming,
has blossomed today.
It's like a street light.
I waited to take photographs when the rain was weak.

2階から撮影
庭でも撮影しましたが百合の背が高く、
逆光になってしまい、暗い写真しか取れませんでした。
なので2階からズームを使用して撮影しました。

Photographs Taken from First Floor

I took photographs in our garden,

 but the Lily is tall and it became backlit for me, 

so I could only take dark photographs.

So I took photographs from the first floor using the zoom.

なぜか、"三銃士" を思い浮かべました。

For some reason, I thought of "The Three Musketeers".

I may have read a digest version, 

but I haven't read the full translation.

B. 開花 / Flowering

タマスダレ
百合ばかりに気を取られていましたが、
タマスダレ(玉簾)も珍しく開花していました。
地植えにして何年経つのでしょう？
タマスダレは、ほとんど開花せず葉のみでした。
葉は、竜の髯 (リュウノヒゲ)と酷似しています。
庭には竜の髯もかなり植えているので
二つの違いがわかりませんでした。

White Windflower

I was concentrating on the lilies, 

but unusually 'White Windflower' was also in bloom.

How many years have passed 

since it was planted in the ground?

White Windflower had almost no flowering 

and has been only leaves.

The leaves are very similar to 'Dwarf Lilyturf' which 

is called 'Ryu-no-hige' ; 'Dragon's Beard' in Japanese.

I also planted quite a few 'Dragon's Beard' in our garden,

so I couldn't tell the difference between the two.

咲いてくれてありがとう！
実家の庭にこの花はよく咲いていたので、
こんなに咲かない花だとは思っていませんでした。
1つ咲いただけで、こんなに嬉しい気持ちになるとも
思ってもいませんでした。

Thank You for Blooming!

This flower bloomed so well in my parents' garden,

 so I didn't think the plant would find it so difficult to bloom here.

I never thought that just one bloom would make me so happy.

ヤブラン

少し前にヤブラン (藪蘭) も花を咲かせていました。

これはオリヅルラン (折鶴蘭) と似ています。

花が咲くまでここに植っているのは

オリズルランだと思っていました。

近くにオリズルランも植えているので花が咲かないと

私には見分けがつきません。

ヤブラン はムスカリに似た紫の花が咲きます。

オリヅルランは白い小さな花が咲きます。

毎年、どちらも咲いてくれていると思いますが

私が百合ほどには気にとめていなかったのでしょう

ヤブランは母の庭から、オリヅルランは姉の庭から来ました。

Lilyturf

Not long ago, Lilyturf was also in bloom.

This is similar to Spider Plant : Orizururan.

I thought it was Spider Plant that was planted here

 until the flowers bloomed.

Spider Plant is also planted nearby,

 so I can't tell unless the flowers bloom.

Lilyturf has purple flowers that resemble Muscari.

Orizururan has small white flowers.

I think both of them are blooming every year, 

but I don't think I noticed as much as the Lilies.
Lilyturf came from my mother's garden and 
Spider Plant from my sister's garden.

C. 複数のトンビ / A Few Black Kites 

このトンビは、まだ幼さが残り、
馴染みがあるように思います。
家の近くの電柱によく止まりにくる子。
今日は羽が濡れているのがわかります。

This Black Kite appears still innocent, 

and I think he (or she) is familiar to me.

He often stops at a telephone pole near our house.

(I use 'he' here.)

I can see that his wings are wet today.

今日は定席に先客がいて、いつもよりも遠くに止まっています。

There was an earlier visitor in the habitual seat today,
he was perched farther away than usual.

定席から先客はいなくなりましたが、動きません。

There were no visitors on the seat,
but he didn't move.

近くの電柱よりに移動しました。

He moved to the telephone pole closer to him.

ケーブルサポートがトンビのロボットのようで、
面白い場面に感じます。

The cable supports are like Black Kite Robots,

定席の電柱の方を気にしています。

前のトンビと同じなのかどうかわかりませんが、
定席にトンビがやってきました。
こちらは、'彼' よりもっと大人の雰囲気です。
老齢の凄みが感じられます。

I don't know if it's the same as the previous black kite,

This one has a more mature atmosphere than 'he' has.

I can feel a grimness of old age.

ライオン！

ライオンを思わせます。

これでは、'うちの子' は、近寄れませんね。

4) 網戸越し / Through Door Screen

夫Rがカマキリ (蟷螂 / 鎌切)を見つけて、2階にいる私に知らせに

来ました。

カメラを持って階段の踊り場へ！

網戸の向こう側にカマキリがいました。

網戸をひいて撮影するか迷って、網戸越しの撮影にしました。

カマキリが家の中に入った時の処置がパニックになりそうだったので(笑)。

Rもほっとした模様...。

カマキリは死んだ餌は食べないと知りました。

カマキリさんは、美食家だったのです。

(ただし共食いはします!)

英国にはカマキリはいません。

There are no Praying Mantis in Britain.

Through Door Screen

My husband R found a Praying Mantis (Mantis / Mantodea) and came to inform me on the first floor.

I took my camera to the landing of the stairs!

There was the Praying Mantis on the other side of the door screen.

I was wondering whether to pull the door screen aside, I decided to photograph through the screen.

Because of the effort needed if the Praying Mantis entered the house having paniced (Laugh).

R seemed to be relieved ...

I found out that Praying Mantis would not eat dead food.

Mr. Praying Mantis is a gourmet.

(However, they cannibalize!)

なるほど〜、実はRは今日まで、

'Preying Mantis' というスペリングだと思っていたのです。

According to Japanese Wiki, (translated by me)

"The scientific name of the mantis is derived 

from the Greek name 'mántis', which also means 'predictor'.

This is also the origin of the English names mantis and mantid.

In addition, there is confusion with the homonym

 'preying mantis' due to its ecology. "

Well, actually R thought that the spelling was 

'Preying Mantis' until today.
