西表島の90%は亜熱帯の自然林で、約80%は国有林です。
浦内川 (ウラウチガワ)は、西表島中央部を流れ、沖縄県内で最長、全長39kmの河川で、中央の山岳地帯から西北に流れ、東シナ海に注ぎます。
魚も400種類以上、生息し、まだ未確認の魚もいるそうです。
一河川 (イチカセン) のマングローブ域に、魚が400種類以上生息している川は他にない (世界でも)と言われています。

There are more than 400 kinds of fish, I heard that there are still unidentified fish living there.
It is said that there is no other river ( in the world) with over 400 kinds of fish living in the mangrove area of a river.

ガイド 兼船長さんは、雨降りのクルーズを申し訳なさそうにしていましたが、ここは、私にとって別世界であり、冒険する気持ちになり、とても楽しいクルーズでした。
西表島に再び行くチャンスは、もうないかもしれませんが、このクルーズをまたしたいな〜と思います。
The guide and the captain looked apologetic for the rain on our cruise, but here was a different world for me, it made me feel like adventuring and it was a very enjoyable cruise.
I might not have an opportunity to go back to Iriomote Island anymore, but I'd like to have this cruise again.

支流
宇多良炭坑 (ウタラタンコウ) は、浦内川支流宇多良川付近において、
1935年から1943年頃まで稼働していた炭鉱で、
西表炭坑のひとつです。
丸三炭坑
(マルミツタンコウ)によって発見・開発されました。
2007年に近代化産業遺産の一つに認定されました。

Coal Mine is a coal mine along Tributary
of
Urauchi River ; the Utara River which
was
in operation between 1935 and 1943 and one of "Iriomote
Coal Mine".
Marumitsu
Mining Company, found and developed.
In
2007, it was designated as a Heritage
of Industrial Modernization.

| アマゾンに行ったことはないけれど、アマゾンにいるような気持ちになります。 Even though I haven't been to the Amazon rainforest, I feel as if I am in Amazonia. 
雨なので、色が鮮明でないのはちょっと残念です。
It is regrettable that the colour is not clear because it is rainy.

| オヒルギ / Bruguiera Gymnorhiza |
もしや、セイシカ(聖紫花)"？
写真は、もしや、"幻の花、セイシカ
(聖紫花)"
と思って撮影しましたが、
オヒルギでした。
ツアーの冊子には、『セイシカを遊覧船鑑賞』と書いてありましたが、
誰からも、なんのコメントもなく、見ることもできませんでした。
Maybe
"Seisika"
?
I
thought this was "Seisika", so I photographed
although this is Bruguiera gymnorhiza.
Our
tour leaflet says that we see
"Phantom Flower : "Seisika from Pleasure-boat"
however,
nobody commented anything about "Seasika" and we could not see any.

立ち枯れ
立ち枯れているマングローブを少なからず見ました。
心配になりましたが、ガイドさんからはなんの説明もありませんでした。
のちに、これらは台風による洪水と暴風が原因であることを知りました。
(2007年の調査：★)
被害はかわらなくても、人為的なことが原因ではなかったので、ほっとしました。
Dying
I saw a few mangroves that have been dying.
I was worried, but the guide did not provide any explanation. 
Later I found out that these are caused
by typhoon floods and wind storms.
(Survey in 2007 : ★ only in Japanese)
Even though there is damaged,
I am relieved because it was not caused by artificial things.

| 枯れ木かと思ったのですが、サキシマスオウノキ (先島蘇芳木) という木でした。 I thought this was a dead tree, although this is Heritiera littoralis.  |

ここから乗船してきた外国人のカップルは、滝を見て感動したと話しつつ、私とRに携帯電話で撮影した映像を見せてくれました。
また、一人旅の外国人男性もいました。
こんなところまで一人で来るのだな〜と関心しつつ、彼の嗜好を何かしら感じました。
We did not get off the boat, but if we walk about 2 km (about 30~40 minutes) from this point
we could see Mariyudo Falls and Kampira Falls (★).
A foreign couple who boarded here talked about the waterfall which they were impressed by, he showed me and R his film on his mobile phone.
There was also a foreign man who travelled alone.
I was impressed that he came somewhere like this as well as I felt something of his taste.

ジャングル・クルーズは、往路も帰路も同じコースでしたが、私は両方とも堪能しました。
The jungle cruise used the same route on both the outgoing trip and the return trip and but I enjoyed both of them.
