1) 8月22日、ティーズ運搬橋  

    Tees Transporter Bridge, 22nd of August

ティーズ運搬橋 / Tees Transporter Bridge は、ティーズ川 /  River Tees に架かる橋で、ゴンドラで人や車を運びます。

1911年に開通され、現在、稼働している運搬橋の中で、世界で最も長い距離の橋です。

ティーズ運搬橋は、ミドルズブラ / Middlesbrough (★ / 英語) のランドマークになっています。

私は、'運搬橋' という形式の橋を初めて知り、初めて見ました。

ウィキペディアでは、'運搬橋'のことを下記のように説明されています。

"川を跨ぐ背の高い構造物からゴンドラが吊り下げられており、歩行者や自動車は
ゴンドラに乗って対岸まで移動する。

船の航行を妨げないように工夫された形式である。"

ティーズ運搬橋の場合は、1台のゴンドラが200人の人と9台の車か、車6台と1台のミニバスを90秒間かけて運ぶことができます。

最近では、バンジー・ジャンプ が行われているそうです。

運搬橋の存在も、それをバンジー・ジャンプに使うことも含めて、世の中は、まだまだ自分が知らないことがたくさん、興味深いことも発想もあるものだと思います。

白いゲートに見えるものがゴンドラです。
You see a gondola which look like a white gate.

Tees Transporter Bridge

The Tees Transporter Bridge is built over  the River Tees and was opened in 1911.

This is the longest working transporter bridge in the world.

Before I saw it I did not know about this type of bridge.

Wikipedia explains about Transport Bridge, below.

"The gondola is slung from a tall span by wires or a metal frame. 

The design has been used to cross navigable rivers or other bodies of water, where there is a requirement for ship traffic to be able to pass."

The gondola of Tees Transporter Bridge can carry 200 people and 9 cars or 6 cars and 1 minibus in 90 seconds.

I heard that nowadays there holds bungee jumps.

After I knew about transporter bridges and the idea of bungee jumps, I think I haven't known many things from all over the world and there are many interesting things or ideas in the world.

ビジター・センター

橋の歴史、周囲の環境がパネルやビデオ、コンピューターや写真、
模型などの形で見ることができます。

この男性も、私同様に橋の撮影をしています。

私もこの男性も撮影だけして、センターにも橋を利用することもしませんでした。

たとえ、利用したくとも橋もセンターも閉まっていた様子でした。

実際に体験(？)したい場合は、利用可能な日時を調べて行くほうが無難です(★)。

Visitor Centre 

The visitor centre promotes the history of the bridge and 

surrounding area through the use of graphic panels,

 video, computers, photographs, objects and models.

This man takes photographs of the bridge like me.

He and I just photographed, we did not use the bridge or the centre as.

Even though we would go in, they looked closed.
If you want to use them, you should research their opening day and time (★).

2) 8月23日、有料橋 / Toll Bridge, 23rd of August 

8月23日、私達は、ミドルズブラ を離れ、ノース・ヨーク・ムーアズ国立公園の西を南下し、ナショナル・トラストが運営する 'Beningbrough Hall, Gallery and Garden' (★) に向かいました。

そこはまだ、ノース・ヨークシャーの中に位置しています。


We left Middlesbrough on 23rd of August, drove to the west of the North York Moors National Park, drove southwards towards 'Beningbrough Hall, Gallery and Garden' (★) which is managed by the National Trust.

We were still in North Yorkshire.

田舎道に入った途端に、迷ってしまいました。
そのなかで有料橋 (Toll Bridge) を渡らなくてはならなくなりました。
道をよく知っていれば、無料のルートを選べたのかもしれませんが、
時間をもう無駄にしたくなかったので、この橋を渡ることにしました。

Immediately after turning onto a country road,
we lost our way.
It turned out that we had to cross a toll bridge to get there 
without a longer drive.
If we knew the area we could select free ways.
We wouldn't loose any more time, so we decided to go this way.

料金所兼ゲートがかわいらしいので、ネガティヴな気持ちが消えてゆきます...
利用する人も結構いて、やはり、便利な橋なのでしょう。

The tool booth and gate are charming so my negative feeling evaporated.
There were a few users, so the bridge must be convenient. 

のどか.... / Peaceful 

川とボートがちらっと見えます。わかりますか？
道路面が木です！

I can see a river and a boat at a glance. Do you see them?
The roadway surface is made of wood!

3) 旅の中の橋 / Bridges in Trips

今年の旅行で、私はかなり、橋が好き、興味があるのだとわかりました。

自分なりに、何故好きなのか、何故興味があるのか、考えてみました。

こちらの 岸からあちらの岸へ移動するときの期待感、通過後の安堵感があります。

通過時には、橋の周囲の空いた空間と時間が、想像する機会を与えてくれます。

小さな冒険のようです。

そこだけちょっとファンタジー。

また、使用していず、ただ眺めた橋でも、その外観には広がった空間に建つ、建物の構造としての面白さを感じます。

橋の両脇は、空間的に密集していず、息苦しくなく、伸びやかな気持ちにさせてくれます。

日常生活にある橋では、なかなか感じられないことも、旅の中では感じられます。

感じようと思えば、日常生活でも可能なことなのでしょうが、日常生活では、橋への意識よりも、橋を使用しての目的地に意識がいってしまうのでしょう。

Bridges in Trips

Now I realized that I quite like bridges and am interested in bridges from this year travels.

I tried to think about myself and why I like bridges and am interested in them.

While I move from one side to the other side on a bridge, there are expectations and after crossing there is a feeling of relief.

At that time, the vacant space and the time give the opportunity to imagine.

It looks like a small adventure.

Only there, it is slightly fantasy.

Moreover, even if I do not use a bridge, I just see their interesting structure and how it exists in the wide space.

Both sides of the bridge are not compressed, there is not a stifling atmosphere and allows me free and easy feelings.

In my daily life, there are bridges which hardly give me these feelings, although it is easy that I have the feelings in a trip.

If I want to have these feelings in daily life, it is possible, although when I am in daily life and use a bridge my consciousness focuses on my destination, the reasons for using the bridge, rather than the bridge's being.
