輪島塗 / Wajima Lacquer Ware

Wajima Lacquer Ware (★) is made with 124 processes.
Amazing!!

珪藻土と漆を混ぜあわせているところ
He is mixing lacquer and Kaisodo: Diatomaceous earth.

縁には綿 (または麻 ) がまかれ、補強の役目をしています。
The edge of the lacquer ware is protected using a strip of cotton or linen round the rim.

中塗りの過程
全体に中塗漆を刷毛で塗り、表面をスムーズに整える。
これを複数回行い、最後は綿布で拭い、手油やチリを取り除く。

"NAKANURI"/  Middle Painting Process : On the Left
Middle lacquer is all painted with a Japanese brush and
the surface is made smooth with some processes.
It should be a few times like that and 
eventually dust and hand oil are removed by a cotton cloth.

上塗りをする部屋はホコリがたたない環境に保たれています。
The room for the last paint of the lacquer / "UWANURI " is kept dust free.

金が入ると本物の輪島塗という感じがします(上)。
ですが、私は好みと懐の加減とで金なしの飯碗を買いました(下の写真）。

I feel it is real Wajima Lacquer Ware, if it has gold (above),
however, I bought the simple rice bowl without gold,
because it is my taste and budget. (below)

横から 
輪島塗の起源はいくつかあるようです(★)が、現地で聞いたもので、
共通していたのは、飯碗の形の元は"合鹿椀(ゴウロクワン）"であるそうです。
合鹿地方はもと柳田村にあり、そこに伝わる椀です。
その特徴は高台(コウダイ)が高いこと。
床に置いた状態で食事がしやすいようにということらしいです。
庶民の食器ということでしょうか？
金など施されていない状態でしょう。
私は"合鹿椀"が偲ばれる形であるデザインを選びました。

Side View
There are a few thoughts about original Wajima Lacquer Ware, 
although I heard a common thing about the bowls which
 came from GOUROKU-WAN: GOUROKU bowl.
GOUROKU region was in Yanagita Village in Ishikawa Prefecture.
The bowl's distinctive feature was the stand which is higher than normal,
because it was easier to eat from the floor when people had meals in the period (Muromachi period: approximately 1337 to 1573).
I guess the tableware was for normal people, not aristocrats 
and so it did not have gold, did it?
I chose my bowl which reminds me of the original: GOUROKU bowl.

素朴な形...

「小生無骨者ではありますが、丁寧に作られております」

と私にはお椀が言っているように感じます。

手にとって軽く、優しく、長く愛してゆけそうな食器です。

 Upside down 

I feel the bowl says to me

"I am humble simple bowl, although I was made very carefully."

If I have it in my hand, it could be light, gentle and I feel I can always love it.

ところで、能登観光中に、２０１５年前期NHK朝ドラ『まれ』は能登が舞台になると広告されていました。

輪島塗や漁(村)、塩田など能登で有名なものが一斉に出てくる番組のようです。
(ちなみに我が家にはTVがないので、オンタイムでは見られません)

私達の旅行も、これらをさらっと見て回る内容でした。

『能登のとと楽、加賀の かか楽』というフレーズをバスガイドさんが教えてくれました。

能登では奥さんがしっかりしているので、旦那さんが楽ができ、加賀ではその逆であるとか。

群馬にも『からっ風とかかあ天下』という言葉があり、『能登のとと楽』と共通するものがあるように思います。

気候が厳しいところは奥さんが強いのか、やりくりが上手なのか、だめ亭主を働く気にさせる手腕があるのか？？？

私は能登の国から大事に飯碗だけ持って帰ってきましたが、能登のかか様たちの力は持ち帰れませんでした。

できれば、『加賀の かか楽』のようでありたい.....(笑)。
