その昔、天橋立は「天への架け橋」といわれていました。
天上に住む男神、伊邪那岐 (イザナギ）が、
地上に住む妻の女神、伊邪那美 (イザナミ）と合うために、
天と地の間に長いハシゴをかけて行き来していました。
ある日伊邪那岐が寝ている間に、
そのハシゴが倒れて天橋立となりました。

| これが"天橋立" ！ '傘松公園 (カサマツコウエン) : ★ 'からの景色 "天橋立"は見る場所によって趣がかわるといわれます。 ここからは'斜め一文字'と呼ばれる形で、 '股のぞき' が有名です。 私達は行きませんでしたが、 文珠山山頂の天橋立ビューランドからは '飛竜観'という形で見られるそうです。 This is "Amanohashidate" ! This view from 'Kasamatsu Park ：★' They say "Amanohashidate has some view points, from here it is called 'Naname Ichimonji': '斜め一文字' ; a slanting No.1 in Japanese Character ; Kanji. | 籠神社 (コノジンジャ) : ★ 傘松公園下にあります。 本来の祭神は天照大神 (アマテラス オオミカミ)と豊受大神 (トヨウケ オオミカミ) でしたが、現在の伊勢神宮に遷られたことから'元伊勢籠神社'とも言われます。 「ウケ」は食物のことで、食物・穀物を司る女神です。 今の祭神は天火明命 (アメノホカアリノミコト)。 天火明命を始祖とする宮司は、海部 (アマベ) 氏で、その系図は 現存する日本最古の系図として国宝指定されています。 現在の宮司は第82代、出雲大社の宮司は第84代、 両家とも2000年前からの家柄です.......!!! 籠神社は、雪舟 (1420 - 1506; 諸説あり) の『天橋立図』に描かれています。 Kono Shrine The shrine is at the base of 'Kasamatsu Park. Originally the shrine was dedicated to Amaterasu-ōmikami and Toyouke-Ōmikami however, the Gods moved to Ise Shrine, so now also it is called Moto Ise Komo Shrine'; Original Ise Komo Shrine. Today, this shrine is dedicated to Amenohokari. Amenohokari is Amabe family ancestor, and their genealogy is a National Treasure of Japan, because it is the oldest existing in Japan. Today's priest of the shrine is the 82nd, Izumo Shrine's priest is the 84th. Both families have been in place for over 2,000 years!!! 2) 日本三景 / Three Views of Japan
天橋立 は名前もその景色も知ってはいましたが、訪れたのは初めてです。
言わずもがな、日本三景の一つですが、実は私は他の二カ所も行ったことがありません。
何人の方が天橋立のことを今まで、語ってきたことでしょう。
日本三景とされたのは江戸時代 (1603 - 1868)、林羅山 (ハヤシラザン/1583 - 1657) の息子、林鵞峰 (ハヤシガホウ/ 1618 - 1680)が
"松島、この島の外に小島若干あり、ほとんど盆池月波の景の如し、境致の佳なる、丹後天橋立・安芸厳島と三処の奇観となす" (Wikipediaより)

豊富な知識と穏やかな愛情を感じる内容でした。
行く前にこれを読んでいったら、何か違う印象や思考がもてたのではないか...
と、ちょっと後悔しました。
けれども、こういった情報を得る前に現地に赴くのも、素直な、新鮮な印象をもつことができて良いことですよね。
時には情報を、時には無垢な気持ちで、旅に出かけるのは、素敵なことです。

It was the first time I visited Amanohashidate which is one of Three Views of Japan ; Three
Famous Scenic Spots in Japan
I haven't visited the other two which are ① Matsushima and ③ Miyajima.

For me, the writer has abundant knowledges and also shows calm love for Amanohashidate.
If I had read beforehand, I could have had different impressions and thoughts...I feel a little sad...
However, if we do not have good information like the contents above before visiting sights, it can be good, too, because we can have pure or fresh impressions, can't it?
Sometimes with information, sometimes with innocent feeling we go our journey, it is lovely, isn't it?
天橋立ビューポイントのひとつは、雪舟観 : ★と呼ばれる"東側からの天橋立の眺め"です。
そこからは雪舟 (1420 - 1506; 諸説あり) が、天橋立を描いた『天橋立図』と似た
構図が見られると言います。
私達はそこへは行きませんでした。
実際の絵 (下の絵) は写実的でありながら、実際にはあり得ない視点 (鳥瞰図的視点) から描かれています。→★
京都国立博物館では下記の説明があります。: ★
"中国大陸に渡って大自然を写生し、宋元画を学び、禅画一致を求めて一生描きつづけた雪舟の傑作である。"
JRのHPには
".... 時代のようすをつぶさに教えてくれる貴重な史料であること。
そして、「禅僧」が初めて中国風ではない日本的な美意識で日本の風景を描いた、日本の水墨山水画という画期性である。"
とあります。
そしてまた、この地には日本神話もあります。
雪舟の生きる姿勢と、この地がもつ日本の神性が、日本文化のひとつになった
『天橋立図』を作り出したのでしょう。
雪舟は、海外で学んだ事を日本文化に組み込み、また自分自身の目標にむかって、追い続けた画家だったのですね。
海外留学の意義のひとつを、ここに見る気がします。

One of Amanohashidate view points is Sesshu-kan which is from the east side of Amanohashidate and they say the layout is similar to "View of Ama-no-hashidate" by Sesshū Tōyō (1420 - 1506 ; Various Views).

haven't been there.
The
true picture (above) is realistic, though in fact, the picture was painted
from an imaginary birds-eye view.
According
to KYOTO
NATIONAL MUSEUM about "View of Ama-no-hashidate" : ★,
"This painting can be considered the masterpiece of an artist who went to China to study painting from life and the art of the Song and Yuan Dynasties and sought the unity of Zen and art throughout his life."
In additions, according to JR HP in Japanese ; I try to translate below.
" 〜 『View of Ama-no-hashidate』is important data which shows us circumstance of the time. Also the picture has an epoch of a landscape ink painting which was the first time a 'Zen priest' painted a Japanese view with Japanese beauty : not Chinese beauty."
Moreover, this area has some Japanese Myths or locations for Myth.
In my view, Sesshū Tōyō's attitude and the place's divinity made "View of Ama-no-hashidate" become a part of Japanese culture.
This painter learnt things from studying abroad, adapted them in Japanese culture and then he tried to follow his purpose, didn't he?
Here, I feel I can see one of the benefits of studying abroad.
4) クルーズ / Cruise
5, 6 分間だけですが、観光船から天橋立を横から見ました。
いい忘れてましたが、現在ここは、'丹後天橋立大江山国定公園'（タンゴアマノハシダテオオエヤマコクテイコウエン）に指定されています。→★
現在、日本で最も新しい国定公園だそうで、ここの歴史の古さと相反して、何か、面白い気がします。
We got on a ferry and looked at Amanohashidate from the side, though it was only 5~6 minutes.
Oh! Yes! I forgot to tell you, here is in 'Tango-Amanohashidate-Ōeyama Quasi-National Park'.
It is the newest National Park in Japan, today.
I feel it is opposite here's old history and some how interesting.

5) 神話 / Myth
天橋立やその周囲にまつわる神話がたくさんあります。
それらを追っていると楽しい！
短い時間では把握できないほどあります。
人々が尾ひれをつけて、いろいろ作り出し続けているせいかもしれません。
でもそれは悪いことでなく、この地に想像力をわきたてるものが存在し、そして人々にとって魅力的な場所なのでしょう。

Myth
There are many Myths relating to or linked with Amanohashidate and its environment.
When I follow them, it is fun!
I could not know every Myth in a short time.
Probably people have been making new ones with exaggerations or embellishments.
It is not bad, this place has something which fires people's imaginations and also here is attractive for people.
