1) 英国からオランダへ / From Britain to Netherlands
英国滞在中にオランダ旅行を夫Rとしました。

2019年8月5日に、英国から、オランダ・ユトレヒト / Utrecht 市に到着しました。

宿泊先に荷物を置き、ユトレヒト の街を散策しました。

12の州

オランダには12の州 / provinces があり、ユトレヒト市は

ユトレヒト州 (薄いピンク部分)の州都です。

Utrecht city is the capital city of  Utrecht Province : pale pink part.

From Britain to Netherlands 

I had a trip to the Netherlands while I stayed in Britain with my husband R.

Arrived from Britain to Utrecht city, Netherlands on 5th of August, 2019.

We left our luggage at our accommodation and strolled around Utrecht.

2) 宿泊所からカフェへ / From Accommodation to Cafe

宿泊場所の惨めさは前回のセクションに書きました (下記) が、そこの最も良い点は観光、生活に便利な場所であることでした。

5分も歩くと、いくつものカフェが軒を連ねている広場に出ます。

カフェを選ぶのに迷います。

人がいないカフェも不安ですし、あまり混んでいるカフェも入る気がしません。

適度な混み具合であったのが、"Cafe 't Neutje (カフェ・ト・ニューチェ?)" でした。

店員さんも親切でした。

カフェと言ってもオランダでは、パブ(居酒屋)も兼ねている?、パブのような？印象でした。

日本のカフェのイメージと同じカフェもありますが、屋外に席を取っている人の殆どがビール、もしくはワインを飲んでいました。

ちなみに、"コーヒーショップ / Coffeeshop"と表示されているお店は、合法上の大麻のお店です。

Cafe 't Neutje 
1981年開店の老舗です。
赤いクッションに店のロゴが刺繍されています。
「Cafe」部分が建物になっている所に遊び心を感じます。

It is a long-established cafe, opened in 1981.

The cafe's logo is embroidered on the red cushion.

I feel playful where the "Cafe" part is a building.

窓ガラスにもロゴがあります。

Their Logo is on the window glass.

From Accommodation to Cafe

The misery of the accommodation was described in the previous section (below), but the best thing about it was that it was a convenient place for sightseeing and living.

After a 5-minute walk, we reached a plaza with a number of cafes.

I was lost in choosing a cafe.

I was worried about cafes where there were no people, and I was not keen on entering very crowded cafes.

"Cafe 't Neutje" was moderately crowded.

The staff was also kind.

Although here and others in the Netherlands are called 'Cafe', they seem more like pubs.

Some cafes have the same image as Japanese cafes, but most of the people sitting outdoors drank beer or wine.

By the way shops displayed as "Coffeeshop" are legal cannabis shops.

カフェの名前と"ジュピラー / Jupiler" の名前が掲げられています。

ベルギービールの "ジュピラー / Jupiler" をメインに扱っているか、

ジュピラーが経営しているように見えます。

The name of the cafe and the name of Jupiler are shown.

It seems that they mainly deal with Belgian beer "Jupiler" or "Jupiler" runs the cafe.

ジュピラー / Jupiler は1966年創業でベルギーで最も売られています。

このようなビールはすぐに日本企業が手をつけそうなものですが、
日本では、まだ売られていません。
地元の生ビールが飲みたかったけれど、地元の生ビールはありませんでした。
まあ、まずは、ジュピラーを飲むことにしました。

日本語でこのビールを詳しく説明されている方のサイトをみつけました→★。

Jupiler was founded in 1966 and is the best-selling in Belgium.

Such a beer is likely to be taken by a Japanese company soon,

although it is not yet sold in Japan.

I wanted to drink a local draft beer, but they don't have a local draft beer.

Well, first we decided to drink Jupiler.

日本でパブを経営している友人Yへのお土産に良いと思いました。

Coasters were received from the staff.
I thought they were good souvenirs for our friend Y, who runs pubs in Japan.

3) 選択したビール / Choice of Beers

たくさんの選択肢

生ビールの数は少ないようですが、ボトルの種類は数多くあります。

私はメニューを見てもさっぱりわかりません。

わからない時は、通常アルコール度数の高いものを選びます(笑)。

Rでさえもわかない...結局、スタッフの方に聞いて決めました。

Rは基本、エールが好きで、ピルスナーは好きではないですが、

私は、まあ、美味しければ、なんでもいいのかも....(笑)。

Many Choices

Although the number of draft beers seems to be small, 
there are many types of bottles.

I don't understand the menu at all.

When I am unsure, usually choose something with a high alcohol content (Laugh).

Even R doesn't understand ... we asked the staff after all.

R basically likes ale and doesn't like pilsner,

but  I may go for anything if it tastes good ....... (Laugh).

Selected Beer

Alcohol content is highish (Laugh).

And local breweries.

お腹も空いていたので、何かおつまみをと思いましたが、好みの軽食がありませんでした。

私は、オランダのコロッケがビールと一緒に食べたかったのですが、残念ながらここにはありませんでした。

ここでは、喉の渇きをいやすだけにしました。


We were hungry, so I thought of some snacks, but they didn't have our favourite snacks.

I wanted Dutch croquettes with beer, but unfortunately it wasn't here.

Here, we only quenched our thirst.

" Brothers in Law ; Australian Pale Ale "

オランダビールのビール ; ブラザー・イン・ロウ/ Brothers in Law (義理の兄弟) : ★

醸造所はアムステルダムにあります。

オーストラリア産ホップを使用しているので、この名前なのでしょう。

Netherlands's Beer ; Brothers in Law : ★

The brewery is in Amsterdam.

It's because it uses Australian hops.

"Brouwerij 't IJ ; India Pale Ale"

1985年開業。

醸造所はアムステルダムにあります。

ラベルは、売春が合法なオランダらしいものでした。

It was established in 1986.

The brewery is in Amsterdam.

A Dutch label, indeed, where prostitution is legal.

裏面にも関わらず、かなり装飾しています。
Rはこのビールがこの中では一番好きだったようで、
あとでスーパーで同じ会社の違うビールを買っていました。

Despite being the label at the back, it is quite decorative.

R seemed to like this beer the most, 
and later bought a different beer from the same company at the supermarket.

キャップ、グラスのマークとも、

会社のトレードマークのダチョウ(と卵？)がデザインされています。

Both the cap and glass marks are designed 

with the company's trademark Ostrich (with an egg?).

4) 他のビール/ Other Beers

Tripel Karmeliet (トリペル・カルメリエット)

クッションに刺繍されている “Tripel Karmeliet”は、

ベルギービールの1つです。

1679年のデンデルモンデ / Dendermonde の古いカルメル会 (Carmelite) 修道院の

レシピを元にして醸造されています。

私は飲んだことがありません。

"Tripel Karmeliet", embroidered on the cushion, 
is one of the Belgian beers.

It is brewed according to a 1679 recipe derived

from the old Carmelite convent in Dendermonde.

I haven't tasted it.

ビール瓶に花

ガーベラ、花の色、ビール瓶の選択がこのカフェにあっています。

このビールは2017年にベルギー旅行をした際に飲んだように思います。

あの時はもうどのビールを飲んでも美味しくて

自分の節操のない舌を自覚しました(苦笑) 。
もしくは全てのビールが素晴らしかったのです！

Beer Bottles with Flowers

The choice of Gerbera, flower colours and beer bottles match this cafe.

I think this beer was drunk when I travelled to Belgium in 2017.

At that time, no matter what beer I drank, they tasted delicious.

I realized my tongue had no discernment (wry Smile).
Or all the beers were good! 

お腹は空いていたけれど、なかなか、素敵な時間を過ごせて、幸せでした。

Although I was hungry, I was able to spend a wonderful time and be happy.



5) 屋内 / Inside

誰もいませんが、屋内の雰囲気が素敵でした。
No one was there but the indoor atmosphere was lovely.

ヨーロッパの人々は、夏は外の席が断然好きですよね〜。
Europeans definitely like outside seats in the summer.

おまけ / Extra

隣のカフェ

隣のカフェには誰もいません。

テーブルにコロッケの写真付きメニューが載っていました。

その写真のコロッケがすごく美味しそうでした。

後日、ここを通った時には、人が入っていました。

Next Cafe
There is nobody in the next cafe.

There were menus with croquette photographs on tables.

The croquettes in the photographs looked really delicious.

On another day when we passed here, there were some people.

ここを後にして、私達は、まだ近所の散策を続けます。

After we left here, we continued to explore the neighbourhood.

1) ユトレヒト / Utrecht
英国滞在中にオランダ旅行を夫Rとしました。

オランダには12の州 / provinces があります。

また、355の基礎自治体（ヘメーンテ/ Gemeente)と3つの特別な自治体（bijzondere gemeenten）があります。

[特別な自治体 : カリブ海にあるオランダ領の島々；サバ、シント・ユースタティウス、ボネール]

滞在場所をユトレヒト / Utrecht 市にし、一週間の滞在に決めました。

ユトレヒト / Utrecht 市は、ユトレヒト州 (下の地図 ; 薄いピンク部分と英文下の地図：赤い部分) にある基礎自治体で、オランダ第4の都市であり、ユトレヒト州の州都です。

アムステルダム・スキポール空港のある、アムステルダムから30キロほど南にあります。

アムステルダムは北ホラント州 (地図 ; 黄色部分) の基礎自治体にあり、オランダの首都 (地図 : ☆印)です。

北ホラント州は、ハールレム / Haarlemです。

(ニューヨークのハーレム地区の名は、このハールレムに由来。トルコ語の'ハーレム'ではないのです)

Utrecht
I had a trip to the Netherlands while I stayed in Britain with my husband R.

There are twelve provinces of the Netherlands. 

And also there are 355 municipalities (Gemeenten) + 3 special municipalities (bijzondere gemeenten) .

[Bijzondere Gemeenten : Caribbean Netherlands ; the islands of Saba, Sint Eustatius and SabaBonaire]

We decided to stay in Utrecht city and stay for a week.

Utrecht is the fourth-largest city and a municipality of the Netherlands, the capital of Utrecht Province (above, pale pink part and below : Red part).

It is about 30 km south of Amsterdam, where the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is located.

Amsterdam is the largest city and capital city  (above, ☆ mark) of Netherlands, and is in a municipality of North Holland Province (above, Yellow Part).

The capital of North Holland Province is Haarlem.
(The name of the Harlem section in New York comes from this Haarlem.)

2) エアーアンドビー / Airbnb

A. 地下室 /  Basement

日本で、ユトリヒト滞在を決めた後に、オランダ人の隣人Eから、
「ユトレヒトは良いところだ」
と聞いたので、安心しました。

彼が言った通りに、ユトリヒトは良い街でしたが、Airbnb (エアーアンドビー) のサイトで見つけた宿泊場所は失敗でした。

予約日前々日までオーナーSと連絡が取れず、とても心配になりました。

Sがアムステルダム・スキポール空港 /  Amsterdam Airport Schipholから予約した宿泊所までの行き方を親切に教えてくれ、多少ホッとしました。

私がリサーチした時によく場所がわからなかったのは、そこの住所が間違って記載されていたからでした。

後になって、防犯上、故意的に、少し違う住所になっていたのではないかと思い当たりました。

現地に到着。

ネット条件では貸切 (マンション) のはずでしたが、そこはオーナー(SとSのBF: A)とシェアーで、私達の部屋が地下室にあることに驚きました。

その上、オーナー(S&A)と共有の洗濯機が私達の部屋にありました。

トイレは地下にはなく、1階の玄関とキッチンの間にあるトイレを使用しなければなりませんでした。

同じサイト : Airbnbで見つけた、2017年にアントワープで利用したアパートメント: "Cozy, light & centrally located ap."  : ★ が素晴らしかったので(下記)、今回は、落胆しました。

❶2017年9月4日 - ベルギー、アントワープ旅行 / Antwerp in Belgium T...

地下で洗濯機が部屋にあります。
洗濯機の周辺の壁にはカビがあり、

床は水漏れしているらしくボコボコしています。

There is a washing machine in the room in the basement.
There is mould on the wall around the washing machine,

and the floor seems to have leaked water and is lumpy.

Basement

In Japan, after deciding to stay in Utrecht, we were relieved to hear from a Dutch 
neighbour, E, who said 'Utrecht is a good place'.

As he said, Utrecht is a good place, although we failed to choose a good place to stay from Airbnb.

I became very worried that we could not contact the owner, S until two days before the reservation date.

S did kindly tell us how to get to the booked accommodation from  Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, so we were a little relieved.

When I did research, I didn't know where it was because the address was incorrectly listed.

Later, I realized that the address was intentionally a little different for security purposes.

We arrived at the accommodation.

In Airbnb, the accommodation was shown as a self-contained flat, however, it was shared with the owner (S and S's BF : A), and we were surprised that our room was a basement.

In addition, the washing machine shared with the owners, was in our room.

The toilet was not in the basement, but was next to the entrance and kitchen on the ground floor.

We were so disappointed because in 2017, we had used Airbnb to find excellent accommodation : "Cozy, light & centrally located ap. : ★ " in Antwerp,  (below).

1階のキッチンとダイニング

キッチンとダイニングはオーナーとシェア。
この部分がインターネットに紹介されていたので、
なかなか良いな〜と思い、ここに決めたのです。
でも、騙された....(涙)。

Kitchen and Dining on the Ground Floor

Kitchen and dining are shared with the owner.

Since this part was introduced on the Internet,

we thought it was pretty good and decided on here.

But we were deceived ...(Tears)

B. 数々の災難 / Many Misfortunes

地下室で寝泊まりするだけで、自分が何かの刑事ドラマの中で囚われの身になっている様な気分にさせられ、気持ちもどんどん落ちてゆきました。

ネット上ではPCのデスクの写真と説明が載っていましたが、実際にその存在はなく、ベッドの上でPCを使用しました。

一週間滞在なのに、シーツもタオルも交換がないので、部屋の洗濯機で洗い、隣の倉庫の乾燥機で乾かして使用しなければなりません。

タオルをかける場所もありません。

滞在中に部屋の洗面台の排水管が抜けて、水漏れし、床に置いていたスーツケースや靴などを椅子やベッドの上に慌てて移動しました。

1枚しかないバスマットを床の水を拭くために使ってしまったので、オーナーにもう
1枚を希望したら、もともとあったバスタオルよりも良いバスタオルを2枚、渡してもらえました。

「わ〜！良かった！」
と喜ぶ自分が悲しい....。

修理にはすぐに来てもらえず、翌日の朝に直してもらいました。

ある日、突然、地下の階段の火災報知器の警告音が鳴り出しました。

最初に、開放的に設置されている階段から上は、オーナーのプレイベート部分なので、登ってはいけないと言われていました。

なので、2階にいるオーナーを階段下から呼びかけるしかありませんでした。

声をだんだん大きくし、最後には大声を出しましたが、それでも降りてきてくれませんでした。

1時間以上鳴り続けたあとで、最終手段として、Airbnbのインターネットを通じて書き込みをしたら、すぐに返事がきて、Bが2階から降りてきて、火災報知器を止めてくれました。

火災報知器の電池切れで警告音が鳴ったのですが、その日以降、電池交換をされないまま、火災報知器を切ったままの状態でした。

さらに、Rが病気になり、一週間滞在のうち半分をほぼその地下室で過ごし、オランダ旅行の半分は悲しい日々でした。

半分は素敵な日々でしたので、それらは後のブログに載せます。

シャワー / Shower

部屋に唯一の窓はシャワー室(?)にあり、

網越しに庭の地面へ向いています。

この網が牢獄の鉄格子に私には感じられました。

The only window in the room is from the shower
 in the basement and has a grill below ground level.

This grill seemed to me to be like the bars of a jail.

Many Misfortunes

Just sleeping in the basement made me feel like I was being held in a criminal drama of some sort, and my feelings went down.

There was a photograph and a mention of the PC desk on the Internet, however, it did not actually exist, and I used my PC on the bed.

Even though we stayed for a week, we did not have any change of sheets or towels, so we have to wash them in the washing machine in the room and dry them by dryer in the storeroom nextdoor. 

There is no place to put a towel.

During our stay, the waste pipe of the washbasin in our room came off, leaked water, and

we hurriedly lifted our suitcases and shoes, which had been placed on the floor, onto the chair and our bed.

We used the only bath mat to wipe the water on the floor, so I requested another one from the owner, A  who gave us two new bath towels, both of which were better than our original towels.

"Wow! It was good!"

I was happy in that instant and I was sad for myself who had become happy by just two towels.

The owner could not repair right away, they fixed it the next morning.

One day, suddenly an alarm sound came from a fire alarm on the basement stairs.

Previously she (they) said that above the top of the open stairs was the owner's private area and we should not climb up.

So I had to call the owner, on the first floor from the stairs below.

My voice gradually increased, and at the end I shouted, but still no one came down.

After more than an hour of the alarm sounding, as a last resort, R wrote via Airbnb's internet, and they immediately responded, descended from the first floor, and stopped the fire alarm.

The alarm sounded when the fire alarm battery ran out, but from that day on, the fire alarm was turned off without replacing the battery.

In addition, R got sick, spending almost half of his week staying in the basement room, and half of our trip to Holland was sad.

Half our days were wonderful, I'll post about them later.

滞在中にシンクのパイプは抜けて、水漏れしました。
修理を1日待ちました。

During our stay, the waste pipe of the washbasin came off and leaked.
We waited one day for repair.
 

3) 自炊 / Self Catering

悲惨なエアーアンドビーでしたが、観光や買い物には便利な場所でした。

なので、きっと、多くの人が、私の様に、ここを宿泊に選んでしまうのではないかと思います。

Rは色々なものが食べられないので、旅に出ても自炊ができる宿泊地を選びます。

なので、エアーアンドビーは、私達にとっては都合が良い物件を見つけやすいサイトです。

今回の失敗を生かして、次は、よくよく確かめて、連絡が取れないオーナーは怪しんで探したいと思います。

Rが病気をして屋内に留まる時間が多かったので、私は、同じ材料を使用して、回数多く作ることになりました。

キッチンだけがOKな場所だったので、料理は苦にならず、牢獄の様な部屋から逃れる時間にもなりました。

一見良さそうに見えるダイニングでさえ、ライトが切れるとか、
卓上のキャンドルが全部使い終わっているとかという問題点がありました。

At first glance the dining room seemed good, however,
there were problems with the light going out
and all the candles on the table had being used up.

Self Catering

It was miserable accommodation, but a convenient place for sightseeing and shopping.

So I'm sure many people would choose to stay here like me.

R cannot eat a few foods or ingredients, I choose a place where I prepare our own meals even if we are on a trip.

So Airbnb website is easy for us to find a convenient accommodation.

Learning from this failure, the next time, I want to check carefully and if we cannot contact the owners, we will be suspicious.

R was sick, we spent a lot of time inside so I had to use the same ingredients and cook many times.

The kitchen was the only place that was ok, so for me cooking was not a pain and I had time to escape from the prison-like room.

ネットの写真では、無垢の木のテーブルで、
敷かれているビニールはありませんでした。

Internet photo showed a nice wooden table rather than this vinyl.

4) 庭 / Garden

ダイニングルームから庭へ出られます。
You can enter the garden from the dining room.

ここでお茶を飲む気にも食事をする気にもなりませんでした。
I didn't want to drink tea or eat here.

この奥の地面に地下室の窓があります。
Behind these plants is the basement window.

庭は、やりようによっては魅力的になるかもしれませんが、何しろ放置されているので荒れた印象しかもちません。

荒れた印象は、周囲の建物から見下ろされることをより一層意識させる様に感じました。

おそらく素敵に作ってあれば、見下ろされることもあまり気にならない様に思います。

The garden could be attractive, depending on how they do it, but it's still abandoned and gives a rough impression.

The rough impression made me feel even more conscious of being looked down on from surrounding buildings.

Probably, if they make here nice, I don't think people will bother to look down.

オーナー(S&A)は2階に住んでいます。
庭に愛情がないのですね、きっと。

The owner (S&A) live on the first floor.

There is no affection in the garden, surely.
