1)下北沢 / Shimokitazawa
英国留学へ行く前には、下北沢には何度も足を運んでいました。
目的は、お芝居であったり、落語であったり、お店であったり、人に会ったり....
いろいろでした。
本帰国後、鎌倉に住み始めてから、殆ど来ていませんでした。
下北沢は、狭い地域にいろいろなものが混ざりあっています。
銀座や青山とは違う、都会らしさがあります。
ほどほどの喧騒があるというのか....
魅力的な町ですが、鎌倉に住み始めた私には、ちょっと元気すぎる町に感じます。
ですが、時にはそういう元気さに触れるのは、良いこと、触れるべき？
きっかけをくださったのは、アーティストの福留鉄男 (フクトメ テツオ) さん。
私が4月に個展をしたとき、彼も青山でグループ展を開いていたました。
それでも、鎌倉までいらしてくださり、彼のブログに感想 (→★)を書いてくださいました。
私のような遅れたブログでなく、彼のブログはいつもオンタイムです。
私の個展だけでなく、様々な場所に、いろいろな個展、展覧会にいらして、その都度きちんと記録を残されていて、頭がさがります。
偶然、彼の個展に間に合うように、英国旅行から帰ってきて、本当に良かったです。
Shimokitazawa
I went to visit Shimokitazawa in Tokyo many times before going to study abroad in the U.K.
The purposes were various, there were plays, Rakugo : a form of Japanese verbal entertainment, shops, and meetings....
I hardly came after I began to live in Kamakura after leaving U.K.
Here has a different urban city feel from Ginza and Aoyama.
There is noise but it is not too bad....
It is an attractive town, but, to me who has begun to live in Kamakura, it feels too bright.
However, I think that it is good to sometimes touch such activity, or at least that
I should.
It is Fukutome San, artist, who gave me this opportunity.
When I had my exhibition in April, he came to my exhibition in Kamakura, even though he was part of a group exhibition in Aoyama at that time.
And also he wrote his impression (→★ in Japanese) in his blog.
Unlike me, his blog is always current.
He visits various exhibitions and records his thoughts each time, so I think great.
It was really good I came back to Japan from Britain, by chance, in time for his exhibition.
2) 寄り道 / Drop In
"バー・ラスト・チャンス"に向かいながら、一軒、他のお店に入ることにし、探し歩いてていたら、駅からかなり離れてしまいました。
そのせいか？明るいお店でありながらも静かに時間をすごせそうな雰囲気がある
'ワインバル 5丁目6番地' を見つけました。

"Bar Last Chance" opens at 7:00 p.m., although we arrived in Simokitazawa earlier.
We decided while we went towards "Bar Last Chance" that we would pop in a bar or a pub beforehand.
Before we found a possible bar we had already made quite a distance from the station.
It might be the reason we found the Bar, "Wine Bar 5 Chome & Banchi" which was bright though calm, so I felt we could have good time there and then we sat down in the Wine Bar.

屋内の席でしたが、ガラスドアが開けられていて、
開放感がありました。
午後７時前にお店にはいるとビールが半額でした〜！
Our table was inside although the glass doors were open
so I felt spaciousness.
And before 7:00 beers were half price ~! |

I found his DM and was relieved I had found the right place.
The real title is "Osaru na Night ", I translate Monkey's Night,
actually it is not so accurate.
In Japanese, stylish is 'Oshale na',
Osaru na Night : Monkey's Night / Oshale na Night : Stylish Night
His tite is a pun. |

立体の猿も絵もお店とその空間にあっていると思います。
きっと福留さんは、お店の空間を考慮して制作された部分はあるのでしょう。

The
Wire Sculpture and the picture of Monkeys suit the Bar and the
Space.
I am sure Fukutome San considered the Bar and its spaces
while he made these works.
I read his blog about his
exhibition, I found some similar thoughts to mine and others that were different.
It is interesting. Unfortunately his blog is only in Japanese.

このお猿はバナナをもっているのですが、これはオーナーさんのアイディアです。
そして赤いりんごもオーナーさんのアイディアです。
バーという環境を考えた時、りんごとバナナは良い方向へ働くのだと思います。
これが通常のギャラリーだった場合は、どうかな？という気がします。
自分の考えを押し通すもよし、取入れるのもよしと私は思います。
大切なのは、取り入れるバランスと、自分の基本の思考だと思うのです。
This Monkey has a banana which was the owner's idea. And also the Red Apple idea, too.
In my view, if we consider the environment, a bar, the apple and the banana could work well.
If here were a normal gallery, I wonder if they would be good or bad.
I think it is good somebody carries on with only their own idea
and somebody else accepts other people's ideas, this is good too.
I thought it is important to keep a balance between an original idea and a new idea,
and to keep one's own thoughts. |

同じ作品でも見る角度が違うとお猿の表情も影も変化して見え、
面白いですね〜。
Even the same work gives us different expressions of Monkeys and
their shadows, if we look at them from different angles.This is fun!
すべての作品について
細いラインであるのに、ワイヤーというメタル素材のために、
弱さが ない。
存在感がしっかりあり、浮かんでいるように見えるのに、安定感があります。
福留さんの意志の強さを感じます。
壁の硬さともよくあった材質ですし、お店の雰囲気とも馴染んでいて
この作品群が生きる空間がここにはあるな〜と思いました。
About All works
Although lines are thin, the wires are made of metal so they do not have weakness.
Their existence is firm and even though they look as though they are floating,
they are stable.
Therefore I feel his will is strong.The material suits the hard wall
and the works are at home there. |
B.カウンター / Counter
福留さんのお知り合いの方々がいらしていました。
イラストレイターであったり、版画家さんであったり....
作品を見せて頂いたり、お話をしたり....バーである環境を感じます。
There were people who Fukutome San already knew, an illustrator, a print maker and so on....
They showed me their works and had chatting...I felt indeed, the environment is a bar.

なかなか、よくできたと自分でも思いました。写真撮影はしていません....

東京の夜をお猿たちと満喫しました。
We fully enjoyed our Tokyo Night with the Monkeys.
