地下鉄でヤクルトの広告を発見！
私は毎日飲んでます！英国では時々。
この手の飲み物で、ヤクルトだけが公式に効果があると
認められているのですよ〜！

I have one every day in Japan, sometimes in Britain too.
You know Yakult is a Japanese company and
only Yakult is proven among this type of drink.

ピムリコ駅 / Pimlico Station

地下道の壁に絵が描かれていて、ピムリコ駅が
テート・ブリテンの最寄駅であることが強調されています。

There are a few picture on the Wall,
it emphasizes Pimlico Station is the closest to Tate Britain.

デキが良いか悪いかは別にして、
テート・ブリテンへの案内役をしていますし、
地下道の暗さを和らげています。

It does not matter their quality is good or bad,
they work as introductions to Tate Britain as well as
making the underpass softer against darkness.

地下道を出るとこの作品がありました。

初めて気が付きました！

「これは何？」「これは何？」「これは何？」

と言って(騒いで）いましたら、通りがかりの人が

「エドゥアルド・パオロッツィの作品だよ」

と微笑みながら教えてくださいました。

どうも、ありがとうござました〜！

As soon as we came out of the underground,

there is this work.

It was the first time I realized.

I asked R noisily.

"What is this?" "What is this?" "What is this?"

Then a passerby told me

"This is Eduardo Paolozzi's work"

with his smile.

Thank you very much!

It has been used to camouflage a ventilation cooling tower for the Underground.

エドゥアルド・パオロッツィはスコットランド生まれの、
シュールリアリストの彫刻家です。
彼の作品は、英国の博物館、美術館、図書館、駅などの公共機関に
数多く設置されていますが、
私が意識したのは、この作品が初めてです。

Eduardo Paolozzi was born in Scotland and was a Surrealist sculptor.
Many of his works are set in institutions like museums, libraries, stations and so on,
although for me it was the first time I noticed his work.

環境によくあっていると思います。

I think this suits its environment.

私にはあまり、シュールリアリズムな感じはしません....

I don't feel it is really Surrealism....

サー・トーマス・ブロック / Sir Thomas Brock (1847 - 1922) 作 : ★

サー・ジョン・エヴァレット・ミレー (1829 - 1896) は

『オフィーリア / Ophelia』(1852) を描いた画家で、
ヴィクトリア女王 (1819 - 1901) に寵愛されもしました。

テート・ブリテンが『オフィーリア』を所蔵しています。→★
この絵の発表当時は、評判は良くありませんでしたが、

20世紀になり、サルバドール・ダリ (1904 -1989)

によって支持されました。

日本で人気の絵で、1998年、2008年、2014年と日本国内で展示されました。
夏目漱石 (1867 - 1916) が『草枕』(1906) でこの絵について描写し、
宮崎駿 (1941 - ) 氏が『オフィーリア』に刺激され、
「崖の上のポニョ」(2004) 制作の方針を手描きへ変更したといわれます。

Sir John Everett Millais, 1st Baronet (1829 - 1896) painted "Ophelia"(1852)

and was in Queen Victoria (1819 - 1901)'s favour.

Tate Britain has the picture.→★

When the picture was first shown the work was not widely regarded.

In the 20th Century Salvador Dalí (1904 -1989) championed the picture.

In Japan, the picture is very popular so that
it has been exhibited in 1998, 2008 and 2014.

Natsume Sōseki (1867 - 1916) wrote favourably about the picture

in his novel : "Kusamakura"(1906).

HayaoMiyazaki (1941 - ) was inspired by the picture,

so that he changed the techniques for "Ponyo" (2004) in that

they concentrated on hand-made pictures rather than using computers.

Many other popular culture media ; arts, films, photographs and so on

テムズ川沿いを歩きながら帰るのが好きです。

Out of Tate Modern and there is The Thames!
I like to walk alongside The Thames on my way home.

正面はセント・ポール大聖堂、右手の橋は、ミレニアム・ブリッジ。

2) 英国軍艦大統領 / HMS President

あれは何〜？ / What is that?

ダズル艦 / DAZZLE SHIP : ★

1918年に英国軍艦、'Saxifrage'は進水し、1922年に名前をHMS President (英国軍艦大統領)と変え、
テムズ川に永久停留しました。ダズル迷彩は、艦船に用いられた迷彩塗装。

この写真の軍艦は、トビアス・レバーガー / Tobias Rehberger (1966 - )のデザインです。

'テムズ・タイドウエイ・トンネル/ Thames Tideway Tunnel' 建設のために2016年に

チャッサム / Chatham に移り、改装されます。2018年には戻って来る予定です。

DAZZLE SHIP : ★

'HMS Saxifrage' was launched in 1918 and the name was changed to 'HMS President' and
moored permanently on the Thames. Dazzle camouflage was a family of ship camouflage.

In these photographs, DAZZLE SHIP LONDO N was designed by Tobias Rehberger (1966 - ) .

During 2016 she will be moved to Chatham for refurbishment
during the construction of the new Thames Tideway Tunnel and will return in 2018.

エリザベス女王即位2５年祝典のメタル記念銘板 : ★

5) サウス・バンク / South Bank

A. OXO Tower

OXO Tower
'OXOタワー' / 'OXO Tower'は、もとは郵便局に電力を供給する発電所でした。
英国にはOXOという牛肉のコンソメスープ会社があります。
その会社が1920年代にこのビルを買い、倉庫として使用しました。
その後、数回にわたり改築が大きくされ、持ち主もに変わり現在は、
コイン・ストリート・コミュニティー・ビルダーズ /
Coin Street Community Builders (CSCB)
がオーナーです。
今日では建物は住宅、レストラン、店と展示スペースなどに使用され、
数々の賞(下記英文参照)も取得しています。

OXO Tower
Originally the OXO tower was a power station for Royal Mail post office.
In 1920, OXO company bought it as a store.
Later largely rebuilt a few times and
the present owner is Coin Street Community Builders (CSCB).
Nowadays the building is used a residence, restaurants, shops,
display spaces and so on.
The building has got many awards, below.
In 1997, Royal Fine Art Commission, Urban Regeneration,
RIBA Award for Architecture , Brick Development Association Award,
In 1998, Civic Trust Award,
In 2000, Waterfront Center USA Honor Award.

楽しい絵がたくさん
A Lot of Joyous Pictures

ここが展覧会会場のようでした。
I felt here was Exhibition place.

都会は、こういう楽しさがあって素敵。
The urban area has these kinds of amusement,
it is lovely.

台湾の学生さん達が描いた絵が使用されているようです。
それぞれ違うようで、統一感があるのは、そういうことだったのかと....。

Taipei student's picture seem to be used for the posters.
Now I understand each picture looks different, although they have a sense of unity.

ロンドン・アイ
ロンドン・アイは好きです。
日本からお客さんを迎えたときに何度か乗りました。
チケットを買うときも、実際乗るときも、
長い行列に加わらなければならないので、
気軽には乗れません。
チケットのネット予約はできますが、結局並ぶのです。
見るだけでも楽しい！

London Eye
I like London Eye. When I had guests from Japan, I got on it a few times.
When we buy tickets and get on it we must join a long queue,
so I do not feel easy.
We book tickets by Internet, although anyway at last we must join the queue.
Just looking at the wheel is fun!

グラフィティアート?
品の良いグラフィティは一体何？と思いつつ、この脇を歩きました。

Graffiti Art?
While I wonder what this Refined Graffiti is for, I walked along the wall.

Zero Emission
"Zero Emission" (ゼロ・エミッション）という言葉が絵の中にあるのを見つけました。
ゼロ・エミッションとは、国連大学が1994年に提唱した構想。
ゼロ・エミッションの正式名は、『ゼロエミッション研究構想 / Zero Emissions Research Initiative = ZERI』詳細はここで→★

少しここにウィキペディアの説明を載せます。
"人類が文明を持つ前の地球はゼロ・エミッションの状態であった。
~~ ゼロに込められた意味は自然界をこれ以上破壊しないという強い意思 ~"

通常のグラフィティ(アート)とはちょっと違うと思ったのは、落書きというよりも広告だったから？
本当の広告かどうかわかりませんが....

Zero Emission
I found words "Zero Emission" in the picture. The detail is here →★

The formal name is "Zero Emissions Research Initiative = ZERI".

According to Wikipedia
"Zero emission refers to an engine, motor, process, or other energy source, that emits no waste products that pollutes the environment or disrupts the climate."

I felt the Graffiti (Art) is different from normal 'Graffiti', because it is their advertisement.

But I do not know if it is really their advertisement.
