2) 幻の"シュルーズベリ クエスト"
Visionary "Shrewsbury Quest"
カドフェルの博物館、"シュルーズベリ クエスト" / "Shrewsbury Quest"
にも行くことでした。
彼の薬草園や作業場があったり、物語の院内が作られていたり、
作家エリス・ピーターズ (1913 -1995) の書斎が
再現されていたり、スタッフは修道士の衣装を着たり、しているとのことでした。
また、館内に所々にヒントがあるけれど、かなり難しいという謎解きにも用意されているとも聞いていました。
薬草園はぜひとも見たいと思っていました。
ところが、周囲を探しても見つからないのです。
Rが人に聞いてみると、数年前に閉館されたということでした。
私が『修道士カドフェル シリーズ 』を知った時には、一人の作家がそのシリーズに
影響を受けて、新しい作品をかけてしまうくらいの時間がたっていました。
また、シリーズのドラマ化も、1994 - 98年ですから、かなり昔です。

カドフェルの本格的なブームは15年以上前になるのではないでしょうか？
なくなっても仕方ないのかもしれません。(涙)

Visionary "Shrewsbury Quest"
When I visited Shrewsbury Abbey, I expect to visit "Shrewsbury Quest" which was Cadfael's Museum.
I heard that there were Cadfael's herb garden, work shop, the inside of the Abbey as in the stories, a reproduction of the office of Ellis Peters (1913 - 1995) and that the staff wore monk's costumes.
Moreover, they had a mystery with some hints in the museum which was quite difficult to solve.
I really wanted to see Cadfael's herb garden.
However, although I looked for the museum I could not find it.
Then R asked a person and then we knew the museum had closed a few years ago.
When I knew 'Brother Cadfael Series', it was quite a while after the series was published in Japanese and an author was then inspired by the Series and he wrote a book.
And also it became a UK TV drama 1994 - 98, so that it was quite a long time ago.

So the museum was closed, it could not be helped (tears).

| シュルーズベリ ワイルドライフ トラスト (Shrewsbury Wildlife Trust : ★ / シューズベリ自然保護団体) もとは"シュルーズベリ クエスト"の敷地でありたてものは、そのときのもので、 中世の建物を復元しています。 また、ハーブガーデンや果樹園も"シュルーズベリ クエスト"創設 (1994) のときに 作られ、現在は無料で公開されています。 Shrewsbury Wildlife Trust Shrewsbury Wildlife Trust : ★ is where Cadfael's Museum, "Shrewsbury Quest" used to be and the medieval buildings were restored at that time. Moreover a herb garden and an orchard were established in 1994, too. Today entry there is free.  後ろの建物の2階にエリス・ピーターズ の書斎が再現されていたらしい... The first floor of the building behind this one seemed to be where there was the reproduction of Ellis Peters's office. |

| 中世の建物の復元と思われますがカラフルな巣箱でデコレーションされて 明るい雰囲気になっています。 博物館のときは、修道院の建物らしく飾りたててはいなかったでしょう。 I thought the building was restored as it would have been in the medieval period, although it is decorated by colourful nest boxes which makes a bright atmosphere. I guess when here was the museum, they did not decorate the buildings, so in keeping with the Abbey.  修道院の回廊の雰囲気は少しは感じられます。 I could feel a little of the Abbey's corridor. |

 建物や庭はある程度残されているので何もかもなくなって 駐車場になってしまっているよりは、'全然マシ'と思います。 Although the museum has gone, some parts of the buildings and gardens have survived, so that it is much better than everything has gone and become a carpark. |

グレイの帯がセヴァーン川
セヴァーン川は、英国で最い川で、ウェールズから ブリストル海峡へと流れています。 The River Severn is the longest river in Britain and
it flows from Wales to the Bristol Channel.

| 英国橋を北東から 修道院のガーデンや果樹園の面影を探してセヴァーン川沿いを歩きました。 '死人舟(シビトブネ)のマドッグ '/ 'Madog of the Dead Boat' の存在も 思い出してもいました。 彼は物語に登場して結構重要な役割を果たします。 (『聖域の雀』 / "The Sanctuary Sparrow" ,1983)
また、彼はカドフェル同様、ウェールズ人です
English Bridge from the North East I walked along the Severn River looking for the last vestiges of the Abbey's gardens and orchards. Moreover I remembered 'Madog of the Dead Boat' there. He appears in the stories and has quite important roles. ("The Sanctuary Sparrow",1983) And also he is Welsh like Cadfael.
