三段壁 (サンダンベキ)は、紀伊半島南部西海岸にあります。

高さ50mの約2kmの急な崖で構成される、

柱状節理 (チュウジョウセツリ) の大岩壁で、

景勝地として有名です。

吉野熊野国立公園です。

Sandanbeki Rock Cliff  Sign

Sandanbeki Rock Cliff is located 

on the west coast of the southern part of the Kii Peninsula.

It is famous as a scenic spot with a large rock wall 

with Columnar jointing composed of steep cliffs

 with a height of 50m and about 2km long.

Here is in Yoshino-Kumano National Park.

崖からの自殺防止として、ここを '恋人の聖地'として

印象付ける自治体の苦労を感じます。

I feel the hardships of the local government to impress this place 

as a 'Lover's Sanctuary' to prevent suicides from cliffs.

柱状節理は、岩が、規則的に柱状になり、両側にずれが見られないものです。

ずれがある場合は、断層になります。

Columnar jointing are rocks that are regularly columnar and have no deviation on either side.

If there is a gap, it will be a fault.

この説明板は、三段壁洞窟内にあったものです。

三段壁洞窟 (サンダンベキドウクツ) : ★の見学を終え、

地上へ戻ってきました。

三段壁と三段壁洞窟は高さは違えど、同じ場所にあります。

After Sandanbeki Rock Cliff Cave, we returned to the ground.

The Sandanbeki Rock Cliff and Sandanbeki Rock Cliff Cave are

 at the same location, although they are at different heights.

右上の建物が辯天宗 (ベンテンシュウ: ★) 本堂 
この建物の中に三段壁洞窟へのエレベーターがあります。

The building on the upper right is the Hall of Benten-shū
which is Kōyasan Shingon-shū sect.
Inside this building is a lift to Sandanbeki Rock Cliff Cave.

左の崖先 は、窟内の説明では
'十像岩'と呼ばれているのではないかと思います。

I think that the tip of the cliff on the left is called
 "Juzo Rocks" ; "Ten Statue Rocks"
 as explained in the Cave.

洞窟からみるとこんな感じですが、
逆光でわかりませんね。

Looking from the cave, it looks like this,
but I can't tell because of the backlight.

ボーッと景色をずっと眺めていたいけれども
ツアーは時間がないのです。

I wanted to see the scenery for much longer,
but I couldn't, being on the tour.
