青い卵と青いサイダー/Blue eggs and blue cider

日本では見かけない青い卵です。こちらでも変わったくちにはいるでしょう。 オールドコッツオツズレッグバーという鶏が放し飼いにされて生んだ卵です。

I have never seen blue eggs in Japan. Maybe even here, it is not usual. The Old Cotswold Legbar chickens are free range. Each egg has a blue stamp, which reminds me of the decoration of Easter Eggs. Even though the shell is blue, the yolk is yellow, and the white of the eggs is as usual. I think the taste is good.

青いスタンプがひとつひとつにおされていて、その装飾的要素がイースターエッグを思い起こさせます。中は白みと黄味で普通です。味は良いと思います。

これに比べて初めて飲んだ洋梨の青いサイダーは、変わった味、人工的な味がしました。ラベルにはブルベリーとあるのですが、この青はブルベリーからくる色ではないでしょう。

日本のサイダーはノンアルコール、甘口ソーダですけれど、こちらのサイダーはアルコールです。りんご、洋梨、くるみなど原料もいろいろあります。味は通常甘口。

The blue pear cider contrasts with the blue eggs, the taste is strange, its taste is artificial. The label says 'BLUEBERRY', I do not think the colour comes from blueberries.

In Japan, usually cider is non-alcoholic and tastes sweet. In Britain, cider is alcoholic and usually fizzy. Its ingredients are few, for example, usually apple, sometimes pear, occasionally chestnut and others. Usually its taste is slightly sweet.

通常飲んでいる洋梨のサイダー(St. Helierというブランド)はとても美味しいのです。ほんのり甘くて、食前酒として飲むのが私は好きです。日本から酒好きな友人も来ましたが彼女らも洋梨サイダーは気に入っていました。お酒に弱い友人にも気に入られていました。

青いサイダーも同じブランドのSt. Helierなのに……、私達はもう買わないでしょうし、人にお勧めもしません。

口なおしにバースエールを飲みました。

こちらのラベルはうさぎです。どうしてうさぎなのかは知りません。

エールが日常化すると英国に居るのだな〜と実感します。

Usually the pear cider (St. Helier), we drink is pleasant, so it works well as an aperitif. Two of my Japanese friends who love alcohol, and other friends who do not drink it so much, all liked it when they came to Britain. Blue cider is made by St. Helier, but we will not buy it again.

We drank an ale, which was very different, to recover from the blue cider.

The label of Bath Ale is a hare, I do not know why they use it.

I think I must be in Britain, when I have an "ale", it is quite normal.
