1.あじさい寺- 西洋風の庭/ Hydrangea Temple -Western Style Garden

北鎌倉の明月院は、あじさい寺として有名です。

ですが、他の花々も多くあります。

Meihetsu-in in Kitakamakura is popular as Hydrangea Temple, although they have many other plants or flowers.

入り口を入って左には西洋風の庭が造られています。

To the left side of the entrance, there is a western style garden.

新しいラ•ポルタ / New "La Porta"

1) 4月28日オープン / Open 28th April

A. ラ•ポルタ / La Porta

私の個展の最終日に、新しいラ•ポルタ(La Porta) :イタリアンレストランがオープンしました。

鎌倉で最初のお店は、覚園寺(カクオンジ)に向かう道沿いで、現在は閉じています。

その前は、赤坂で、お店は地下にありました。

赤坂当時、斉藤シェフは庭があるお店が欲しいと願っていて、地下までの階段や地下に内庭風に植物をディスプレイしていました。

それを鎌倉市二階堂で完全に、実現しました。

というか、そのために鎌倉に移転したのです。

鎌倉で二番目になる、今度のお店は、金沢街道沿い、
岐れ路 (ワカレミチ) バス停の近くにあります。

La Porta

The new La Porta : Italian restaurant, was opened on the last day of my exhibition.

The first La Porta restaurant in Kamakura was along a path which goes to Kakuonji Temple .

This La Porta is now closed.

Before Kamakura, it used to be in Akasaka in Tokyo and in the basement of a building.

At that time, Saito chef hoped to have a restaurant with a garden, so on the stairs he displayed green plants and a tiny space in the basement was garden style.

He achieved his ambition with first restaurant in Nikaido in Kamakura City.

I could say he moved his restaurant to Kamakura for the garden.

His second La Porta in Kamakura is along Kanazawa Kaido:
a prefectural road, 204 and close to Wakaremichi Bus-stop.

少しは庭に対する思いも残っているらしい？
He still has his heart for the garden, doesn't he?

B. 写真 / Photograph

赤坂にも鎌倉初店にも、アルフレッド•スティーグリッツ撮影の
ピカソの大きな写真がありましたが、岐れ路店には違う写真(下の写真)が飾られています。

誰の作品かはわかりません。

斉藤さんもわからないようでした。

彼にとってはなんとなく、変えた写真であるのかもしれませんが、
私は、そこに、彼の今までとは違ったお店に対する考えがあるのを感じます。

Photograph

The Tokyo restaurant and the Nikaido one had a big photograph of Picasso by Alfred Stieblitz.

The Wakaremichi one has a different photograph (below).

I do not know who took the photograph.

Mr. Saito does not seem to know, either.

He might have changed it without a particular reason,
although I feel that his thoughts for the present restaurant are different.

2) 夕飯 / Dinner

私が訪ねたのは、5月31日。

残念ながら、Rは、今は、英国なので、この日は姉と夕飯を食べに行きました。

I visited there on 31st May.

Unfortunately R is in Britain, so I was with my sister for our dinner.

ジェラード / Gelato

斉藤さんに選んでもらったスパークリングワイン
Mr. Saito selected this for us.

今日はこれ１本！
Today, we just had one bottle.

イタリア製の時計、きっとゆっくりすすむのね？(笑)
This clock was made in Italy, it must run slowly?(Laugh)

前菜

私達がメニューの中で一番食べたいなっと思ったのが、コレ！

そして今日、一番美味しかった！

メニュー上の品数は減っていましたし、黒板上のお料理もありませんでした。

私たちが注文に困っていると、斉藤シェフは何が食べたいのかきいてくれたので、牛肉のカルパッチョを注文し、彼は作ってくれました。
ありがとう！

お店は今までで一番広いけれど、お料理の品数が減ったのは、
残念だわ!

Starter

From the menu, we really wanted to eat this. And it was our best dish today.

There are less dishes on the menu and there is no blackboard with Daily Specials.
We struggled with choosing our dishes, then Saito Chef asked us what we would like to eat, then we ordered Beef Carpaccio.
He prepared it.
Thank you.
This restaurant is the largest so far, although the number of dishes is the smallest.

That's too bad!

3)地下 / Basement

これらの板を使用し、オーダーメイドの家具を
作ってくれるそうです。
ああ、でもそれは斉藤さんがつくるのではありませんよ。

These wooden boards will be used for made-to-order furniture.
On Yes! Mr. Saito will not make it, someone else will.
