1) 山門 / Sanmon Gate
私と夫Rは、腰越の 'Art & Dining Spaceたぶのき' で開催されている絵本原画展が目的で外出しました。
瀧口寺は、日蓮宗のお寺で、
龍ノ口刑場跡 (タツノクチケイジョウ アト)に建っています。

Sanmon Gate
I and my husband R went out for the purpose of the picture book original painting exhibition held in 'Art & Dining Space Tabunoki' in Koshigoe, Kamakura, Kanagawa prefecture.
Ryūkō-ji is a temple of the Nichiren Shū (Nichiren School) and is built on the site of the Tatsunokuchi (龍ノ口) execution site.

| 山門 - 仁王門から見上げて 欅造り銅版葺。 大阪雷雲寺(オオサカウンライジ)の発願で 豪商鹿島屋某が寄進しました。 (鹿島屋は、後に大同生命の基礎となって行きます) Sanmon - Looking up from Niōmon Copperplate roofing & made of zelkova. Donated by a wealthy company, Kashimaya at the request of Raiunji Temple in Osaka. (Kashimaya later became the foundation of Daido Life Insurance Company.)  寂光山 龍口寺 お寺の正式名は、正式名は、 寂光山 龍口寺 (ジャッコウザン リュウコウジ) です。 正面に "龍口寺" 裏面に "寂光山" の扁額が 掛かっているそうですが、 私は正面の"龍口寺"のみ撮影しました。 次回訪ねた時に"寂光山" の扁額(ヘンガク)を 確認したいと思います。 Jakkozan Ryukouji : 寂光山 龍口寺 The official name of the temple is Jakkozan Ryūkōji : 寂光山 龍口寺. I heard that "龍口寺" : "Ryūkōji" framed writing is hung in front and "寂光山" : "Jakkozan" is hung on the back, but I only took photograph of "龍口寺" in front.  一般的に山門にはよく木彫がありますが ここの門にはよりたくさんの凝った木彫が施されて いるように感じます。 In general, there are many wood carvings on temple gates, but I feel that the gate here has many and more elaborate wood carvings.  |

The eight sculptures that adorn the gate are intricately carved with Chinese historical events.
I took some pictures, below.
柱を保護すると思われる銅版に神獣が見られます。
A divine beast can be seen on the copper plate that seems to protect the pillar.

| 手水舎 最近、新型コロナウイルスの感染防止のために、 手水舎の水が停められているのをよく見かけます。 少しづつもとのように戻ってきてはいますが...。 ここでは通常通り、水がでていました。 Chōzu-ya Recently, I often see the water at the Chōzu-ya being turned off to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus. It's slowly returning to normal, but... There was water here, as usual. |
Chōzu (as temizu) is the water used to cleanse one's hands and mouth before visiting a shrine or temple, or the act of doing so which is for a ceremonial purification rite.
The facility ; pavilion where this is done is called Chozuya or Mizuya.

手水舎の木彫 / Wood Carving of Chōzu-ya 霊獣の1つだと思います。 I think one of the mythical creatures or sacred beasts. |

| 日蓮像 確かめたわけではないけれど、日蓮像に違いないと思います。 Statue of Nichiren I haven't confirmed it, but I think this must be a statue of Nichiren. Nichiren (1222 - 1282) was a Japanese Buddhist priest and philosopher of the Kamakura period (1185 - 1333). |

| 龍ノ口法難 龍ノ口法難は、日蓮についての逸話です。 日蓮が斬首されようとする直前に江ノ島方より光の玉 (球電) が きて、光の衝撃で振り下ろした刀が折れ、 首を刎ねることができなかったとも、 光の玉が太刀を取る武士の目がくらませ、 刑の執行は中止されたとも言われています。 Tatsunokuchi Persecution The Tatsunokuchi Persecution is an anecdote about Nichiren. Just before Nichiren was about to be decapitated, a ball of light (Ball Lightning) came from the Enoshima side, and it is said the sword being swung down was broken by the impact of the light, or the samurai was blinded, and the execution was called off. 画像は下記より/ This from below ★ |

| 妙見堂 1720年建立。 / 欅造り銅版葺。 有形文化財 (建造物) 龍ノ口法難時の光の松の材木で造られたという 妙見大菩薩を安置しています。 Myōken Hall Built in 1720 Copperplate roofing & made of zelkova. Tangible Cultural Property (Building) It is said that it was made from pine trees of the light ball at the time of the Tatsunokuchi Persecution. Myōken Dai-bosatsu is enshrined here. |

Holy Cave It is said that a day before Nichiren would be beheaded, they shut him up in this cave. Nichiren Statue has been enshrined since 1756.  |

| 1968年に、龍ノ口法難750年を記念し、 千葉の法華経寺 (ホケキョウジ) から 移築されました。 700貫 : 2.6tの梵鐘は新たに鋳造され、 "延寿の鐘"として、毎朝妙音を響かせています。 Bell Tower 1968, commemorating the 750th anniversary of the Tatsunokuchi Persecution, from Hokekyō-ji Temple in Chiba Prefecture has been relocated. The 2.6-ton temple bell is newly cast, and as the "Longevity Bell," it rings every morning. |
