2019年7月12日に、私と夫Rは、ウォルヴァーハンプトン / Wolverhamptonに住む、Rの友人、J&S夫妻を訪ね、彼らの家に3泊しました。

13日には、"ジョンズ・ガーデン / John's Garden (at Ashwood Nurseries)" に連れて
行っていただきました。ありがとうございました！

"ジョンズ・ガーデン" は、"アッシュウッド種苗店(シュビョウテン)  / 
Ashwood Nurseries" が経営し、オーナーのジョン・マッセイ/ 
John Massey (1949 -) によって、作られました。

彼は庭づくりの賞をいくつも獲得しています。

I and R visited R's friends,  J & S in Wolverhampton on 12th of July, 2019 and we stayed there for 3 nights.

They took us to John's Garden (at "Ashwood Nurseries") on 13th of July, 2019.

"John's Garden" is managed by "Ashwood Nurseries", and was created by its owner John Massey (1949 -).

 He has won several awards for gardening.

私は、この庭について、事前のリサーチを殆どしませんでした。

ジョンズ・ガーデンは、プライベート・ガーデンで、公開日が限られているとだけ聞いていました。 

行ってみて、想像していたよりも、広い庭 (3エーカー / 12,194㎡ / 約3689坪 / 下のマップ参照)で、びっくりしました。

訪問者もたくさん！

通常のティールームは、あまりの混雑で利用できず、野外の臨時のティーコーナーで私達は、休憩しました。

地図にはありませんが、種苗店としての規模もかなり大きいです。


I did very little research in advance.

I just heard that John's Garden is a private garden, so its open days are limited.

After arriving, I was surprised it is such a large garden  (3 acres / see map below),  that was more than I had imagined.

And Lots of visitors!

The usual tea room was not available due to being much too busy, and we took a break in the outdoor temporary tea corner.

It is not on the map, but the scale as a nursery is quite large.

運河をゆくボート
運河 (River Stour)が庭に沿って流れています。
英国らしい風景に感じます。

A canal : River Stour flows alongside the Garden.
I feel this is quite a British view.

パンフレットにジョン・マッセイ/ John Masseyのコメントが載っています。
『庭でもっとも好きな時はいつかと聞かれた時、私はいつも　
「今日です！....なぜなら、私は生きていて、そこにはいつもエキサイティングな植物がたくさんあり、やることもたくさん!!!!!」と言います。』
私はこの部分が好きです。(訳は私が勝手にしました）
作り手としては庭が寂しい時でも、このように感じるのでしょう。

There are John Massey's comments in the Pamphlet.
I like this part, below.
『People ask me when is my favourite time in the garden, I always say "today...because I'm alive, there's always lots of exciting plants to enjoy and there's always lots to do!!!!!"』
I think as a creator, he feels like this even when the garden is quiet.

何の実？と思ったところで

Malus 'Harry Baker' の札を見つけました。

リンゴ(属)の1つのようです。

Similar to Rose Hips.

While I was wondering, what are these fruits?,

I found the tag : Malus 'Harry Baker'.

It seems to be one of the apples (genus).

"ワイルドライフ・メドウ" エリアへと進む人々
People going to "Wildlife Meadow".

紙のような皮 / The skins are like paper.

Rはこういう木にとても興味を示します。
R is very interested in these trees.
