1) 本 / Books

まずは鎌倉図書館へ行き、予約した本を2冊借りました。

1冊は、仁木英之 (1973 -)作『まほろばの王たち』。

Firstly I went to Kamakura Library and borrowed my two reserved books.

One is "Mahoroba no Outachi / Great Kings", 2014, by Hideyuki Niki (1973-), Publisher: Kodansha.

もう1冊は『本日はお日柄もよく』、最近お気に入りの作家、原田マハ(1962 -)(★)さんの作品です。

徳間書店、単行本は2010年初版、
私が借りたのは文庫本で2013年出版 。

表紙のデザインのアイディアが好きです。
デザインは高柳雅人氏 :★。

"Today is a Lucky Day"

Another is "Honjitu-ha Ohigaramo-yoku / Today is a Lucky Day"

Publisher: Tokuma Shoten hard cover was first published in 2010, 

and I borrowed a paperback, 2013.

Nowadays my favourite author is Maha Harada (1962 -) and

 "Today is a Lucky Day" is her work.

I like the idea of the cover which comes from 
Japanese celebratory ceremony's wrapping.

The design by Masato Takayanagi : ★ only in Japanese.

両方とも予約時には60~ 80人が私の前にいました。

ようやく、私の番がまわってきたのですが、読めるかどうか、自信がないです。
9月頃から図書館で借りては読み切れずに返却し、結局アマゾンで購入するということが複数回続いています。

原田マハさんの本は、この流れで、今年3冊(下記)を買ってしまいました。
『カフーを待ちわびて』(2005, 宝島社 )
『楽園のカンヴァス』(2012, 新潮社)
『ジヴェルニーの食卓で』(2013, 集英社)


When I reserved each of them, there were 60 ~ 80 people before me.

Finally my turns came, although I am not sure I can read them, because from September, I borrowed books from the library, I could not finish reading and so returned them and then I bought a few of them from Amazon. 

For example, I bought three books by Maha Harada below.

"Rakuen no Kanbasu / Canvas of Paradise" (2012, Shinchousha)
"Giverny no Shokutaku de / The Table in Giverny or Monet's Table" (2013, Shueisha)

大好きな本
『楽園のカンヴァス』は友人にもプレゼントしましたが、

彼女も買おうとしていたのでとても喜ばれました。

"Canvas of Paradise"

I love this book.
I presented "Canvas of Paradise" to one of my friends
who had wanted to buy the book, so she was very pleased.

読了したのは横山秀夫 (1957 -)作『64(ロクヨン)』くらいです。

『64(ロクヨン)』は2015年4月からNHKでドラマ化されます。

私は愛憎劇どろどろの物語が苦手です。

この本はそういう手のものではなかったので、それなりに楽しめました。

ただ、私は警察官である主人公の窮地にあまりはらはらどきどきさせられなかったし、警察やマスコミのメンツの記述や彼らのやりとりや信頼関係にも興味が感じられませんでしたので、読書中、ときどき(頻繁に？)しらけてしまいました。

読んでいるうちに、この本は買わないな〜と思ったので読み切ったというのもあります。

逆に言うと、個展準備で慌ただしい中で読んでしまってはもったいないと感じた本は買うのかもしれません。

2012, 文藝春秋

"64: Rokuyon"

I only could finish "64: Rokuyon" by Hideo Yokoyama.

It will be a drama by NHK from April in 2015.　

I dislike stories of persistent love and hatred. 

 "64: Rokuyon" is not like that for me, so I enjoyed in its own way.

But I was not so excited by the predicament of a main character, a policeman and 
I was not interested in descriptions of faces of police and the press, their negotiations, and relationship of mutual trust, so sometimes or often I had a chill cast over me while I read. 

However, I think I enjoyed it in its own way while I am preparing for my exhibition. 

When I read the book, I knew I would never buy this, so maybe I could finish reading.

In other words, while I prepare for my exhibition and I am restless, I feel some books are too good to read now and so I might buy them to read when I want.

I guess I will finish reading "Today is a Lucky Day" and return it and I might buy "Great Kings" which looks like a Japanese historical fantasy story. 

It is the first time I will read a book by Hideo Yokoyama, I am looking forwards to reading it.

Summary of "Great Kings" in Japanese

『本日はお日柄もよく』は読了して返却し、日本の歴史ファンタジーであろう
『まほろばの王たち』は買うことになるのかもしれません。

仁木英之 さんの作品は初めて。どんな本を書く人なのか、楽しみです。



2) 珈琲豆店 / Coffee Beans Shop

私が鎌倉に住み始めた頃(2009年)、鎌倉駅西口の"御成通り"は、観光客よりも地元の人が利用する雰囲気があったように思います。

もちろん、そのときから観光客相手であるお店も少なからずありました。

でも今は、観光客相手の新しいお店がたくさんできて、商店街が変わったように思います。

この現象は鎌倉住民であってもまだ観光客気分の私には、寂しい気持ちよりも、嬉しい気持ちが強いです。

When I started living in Kamakura in 2009, I felt the atmosphere of "Onari Street" shops, west of Kamakura Station suited local people rather than tourists.

Of course there were a few shops for tourists at that time, too.

However, I feel there are many new shops for tourists and so the street has changed.

The phenomenon gives me pleasure feeling rather than sadness, because even though I am one of residents of Kamakura, I feel I am still a tourist.

珈琲豆の店
この珈琲豆のお店は景観重要建築物の"旧安保小児科病院" : ★と
道を挟んだお隣にあります。
数多くの種類のプリンも販売していますが、私達は買っていません。

Coffee Beans Shop 
A narrow road separates this shop from the"Old security pediatric doctor's office"
 :★ which is one of Cityscape important buildings.
The coffee shop sells many types of custard, although we haven't bought any. 

11月にRがここの珈琲豆を買ってきました。
買って来た当日に、豆を手挽きし、お湯を入れると泡がとてもたち
珈琲がよく膨れ、焙煎が新しいのだな〜と感じました。
カフェオレにして飲み、とても美味しかったのです。
丁度、珈琲豆がきれかかっていたので、本日、ここに買いに来ました。

R bought coffee beans here in November.
On the day, I ground the beans by hand and when I poured hot water into them, 
it bubbled well and expanded a lot and then I felt the roast is fresh.
I made cafe au lait which was very delicious.
By chance, our coffee beans were running short, 
so today we came here to buy some more. 

鎌倉土産としてネーミングされている珈琲豆
私達も姉Yもこれではない豆を買いました。
日本では深煎りが好まれるようですが、今、私は中煎りが好きです。

The beans are named as Kamakura Souvenirs, 
in relation to Japanese history.
We and my sister Y bought different beans from these.
In Japan, many people seem to like a deep roast for coffee beans,
however, I now like a middle roast.

焙煎していない生豆、グリーン コーヒー ビーンズ
自分で焙煎する方も結構いらっしゃるそうです。
それぞれの方で焙煎方法は違い、
ある方はポップコーンメーカーを使用するとのこと。
私は既に焙煎された豆で十分満足です。

Unroasted Coffee Beans: Green Coffee Beans
There are a few people who roast beans themselves.
People use different methods, for example
someone uses a pop-corn maker.
I am satisfied enough by already roasted beans.
