磁器でなく陶器です。
フェザントはキジ、日本の国鳥です。
フォトナム アンド メイソン (F&M) は、以前、
このシリーズを売っていました。
最近ではバーリーでF&Mのオリジナル食器を作っています。
Asiatic Pheasants
They are not porcelain, they are white earthenware.
Pheasant is a Japanese National bird.
Before Fortnum and Masons sold this series.
Nowadays they sell Burleigh, labeled F&M.

バーリーは、私が英国の大学在学中 に工場見学の授業で訪ね、好きになりました。
手作業の暖かみが残る製品に好意を持ち、また柄のデザインがとても英国らしいもので工場の建物も魅力的です。
バーリーは、陶磁器の工場が集まっている地域、
ストーク オン トレント (Stoke-on-Trent)
に所在しています。
ストーク オン トレントは陶磁器産業の里として
非常に有名で、
ロイヤルドルトン、
ミントン、
ダットソン、
ウェッジウッド等
があります。
確か、陶芸美術博物館(Potteries Museum & Art Gallery) もあったと
思います。

当時(2005年) 私は陶芸科の学生としていくつかの工場へ入ったので、一般の人が入れないところや、デザイン部門のシークレットエリアなども見せていただきました。
巨大な規模のオートメーション化にがっかりしたり、職人技に感嘆したりしました。
あるところでは中国で人形のパーツを作って、英国で合体させる方法に驚きました。
その工場見学旅行は、とても有意義でおもしろかったです。

私とRは、マンチェスターからウォリックへ行く途中で寄りました。
工場見学ツアーの時間には既に遅く、到着したのはいつものように
お店の閉まる直前でした。

手拭のように下がっている柄を
陶器にひとつひとつ手作業で貼付けて行きます。
この技術は200年以上続いています。

The patterns are hanging down like towels,
and are stuck on the tableware by hand.
This method has been in use for over 200 years.

Straight away I liked Burleigh,
because I felt the tableware was hand made with a warm atmosphere, the design of the pattern is very British for me, and the site is quite historical.

In addition, the factory's buildings are attractive for me.
Burleigh is in Stoke-on-Trent. Stoke-on-Trent is very famous as the home of the pottery industry, with the factories of Wedgwood, Royal Doulton, Minton, Dudson Ltd and others.
I think there is the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery.
When I visited there as a ceramics student, I could see special areas and a secret design room where people cannot usually go.
In the study trip, I was depressed by the huge automated systems for making tableware, but I was impressed by the exquisite handmade skills and techniques.
I was surprised by the method of making figures in which their parts come from China, then they are joined in Britain.
I really enjoyed the whole trip, it was fun.
We visited Burleigh Factory Shop, when we moved from Manchester to Warwick.
We were too late to take part in the Factory tour, as usual we got there just before the factory shop closed.
