この九州旅行の発端は、私の作品が、枕崎市が主催する
『第3回枕崎国際芸術賞展』に入選し、展示されることになったからです。
展示については下記。
その機会を利用し、Yの義母(義兄の母)を訪ねたり、義兄の家族のお墓参りをしたりする計画が加わりました。
旅行の最後に、どこかの温泉へ行こうと計画した際に、以前、Yが宿泊したという、'硫黄谷温泉 ・霧島ホテル' を選びました。
ですが、霧島ホテルへ来てみたら、Yが泊まったほてるではないことがわかりました。
それでも、2泊3日、ゆっくりとした時間をこのホテルで過ごせたので、このホテルの宿泊で、よかったと思います。
Kirishima Hotel
This Kyushu trip was because my work has been selected and exhibited at 'The 3rd Makurazaki International Art Award Exhibition' organized by Makurazaki City.
About the Exhibition, below.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, plans were added to visit
Y's mother-in-law (my brother-in-law's mother) and visit the grave of my brother-in-law's family.
At the end of the trip, when I was planning to go to a hot spring somewhere, I chose 'Io-dani Onsen・Kirishima Hotel' where Y had stayed before.
However, when we came to the Kirishima Hotel, she found out that it was not the hotel where she had stayed.
Still, we were able to spend 2 nights and 3 days, have a leisurely time in this hotel , so I think it was good to stay it this hotel.
2) 初日の夕飯 / First Day Dinner
慣れていない外国人のウエイトレスによる、不適切なサービスで驚くことがありましたが、トータルして、美味しく、ゆったりとした夕飯をとりました。
We were surprised by the poor service from an unfamiliar foreign waitress, but overall, we had a delicious and relaxing dinner.

このコースには、杉の森をながめる窓際が確約されていました。
This course was guaranteed a window overlooking the cedar forest.

| 黒豚軍鶏鍋 1866年、坂本龍馬 (1836 - 1867) がこのホテル (霧島館) に 宿泊した際に、食べたと言われる鍋です。 Black Pork Game Chicken Pot It is said that Sakamoto Ryōma (1836 - 1867) ate this hot pot when he stayed in this hotel (Kirishima-kan) in 1866. |

| 予約したコースに小さなボトルワインがついていました。 そのほか、私達は、霧島ビール2種類を飲みました。 A small bottle of wine was included in the reserved course. In addition, we drank two types of Kirishima beer.  |

3) ライト / Light
ベッド脇の照明が、SFの世界を思わせました。
九州の山奥の宿泊所で、こんな照明 (下) に出会うとは、驚きでした。
他のインテリアなどは、一般的な温泉旅館のセンスでした。
Light
The lighting by the bed reminded me of the world of science fiction.
It was a surprise to see such lighting, above in a hotel in the mountains of Kyushu.
The rest of the interior, etc., was in the style of a typical hot spring inn.
4) 30日 / 30th
A. 朝食 / Breakfast

We took a walk through the "100 Years Old Cedar Garden", which is the pride of the hotel. 'Walks' will be posted in the next section. |
B. 予定変更 / Plan Change
翌日、ホテルをチェックアウトし、ホテルのバスで、最寄りバス停：硫黄谷バス停まで行き、路線バスで鹿児島空港へゆく予定をたてていました。
路線バスの運行に不安があったので、メールでホテルに聞くと、電話で返事があり、バスは運行されていると確認がとれていました。
ですが、前日の午後になって、私達が乗る飛行機に間に合う時間の路線バスが運行されないと知らされ、慌てました。
バス運行されていると聞いたので、宿泊日の日程を決めたのに、なんということでしょう！
知っていたなら、宿泊日をずらしたのに...。
そして、何も具体的なフォローされず、「すみません」というだけでした。
関東から九州の霧島へゆき、突然、山の中に放り出されたような感覚を持ちました。
ホテルのスタッフは、こういう環境におかれた旅行客の気持ちが理解できないことや、自分たちの答えによってこの状況が招かれたことへの責任も感じないことが、私には理解に苦しむことでした。
仕方なく、私達は、鹿児島空港まで、タクシーで行くことにしました。
空港まで、タクシーを使用したので、予定外の観光ができたことはよかったです。
ですが、私(達)は、2度とこのホテルを利用しないと思います。
Plan Change
The next day, our plan was that we would check out of the hotel, take the hotel bus to the nearest bus stop : Iō-dani bus stop, and go to Kagoshima Airport by a local bus.
I was worried about the operation of the bus, so when I asked the hotel by email, I received a phone call and confirmed that the local bus was running.
However, in the afternoon of the previous day, we were in a panic when we were informed that the local bus would not run in time for our flight.
I had heard that the bus was running, so I decided the schedule of the stay dates, but what a surprise!
If I had known, I would have changed the date of our stay...
And nothing concrete was followed up, just "sorry".
Going from Kanto to Kirishima in Kyushu, I suddenly felt as if we had been thrown into the mountains.
It is hard for me to understand the hotel staff's inability to understand the feelings of a traveler in such an environment, and to feel no responsibility for the situation brought about by their answers.
We decided to take a taxi to Kagoshima Airport.
We took a taxi to the airport, so it was nice to be able to do some unplanned sightseeing.
However, I know we will ever use this hotel again.
C. 夕飯 / Dinner
前日と大きくかわりはないけれど、多少、より手の込んだ料理であり、素材も多少レベルアップしたように感じます。
Yは、昨日は、団体客が滞在していたので、それにあわせて出されたけれど、今回は個人客用なのかもしれないと言っていました。
昨日は、坂本龍馬が食べたおかずや郷土料理が盛り込まれ、観光重視の内容でした。
2泊して、バリエーションがちがう夕食をとれて、よかったと思います。

Dinner
It's not much different from the day before, but it's a little more elaborate and the ingredients seem to have improved a little.
Y said that yesterday, there were tours of guests staying, so it was served according to that, but this time it might be for individual guests.
The dinner of last night focused on tourism, including local dishes and side dishes that Ryōma Sakamoto ate.
I'm glad I was able to have dinner with different variations during my two-night stay.

D. ディナーショー / Dinner Show

| 金色の鹿と細い丸太 金色の鹿の彫刻と細い丸太が杉庭園に設置してありました。 その理由が夕飯時にわかりました。 Golden Deer and Short Logs Golden deer sculptures and short logs are placed in the cedar garden. 昼に、杉庭園を散策した時、いくつかの細い丸太が並べられているのをなにかしら？と疑問に思いましたが、レストランのスタッフからキノコを育成するためのものだと聞きました。
そのキノコの香りは、野生の鹿を呼び寄せるのでした。
(もしかしたら最終的にはキノコを人間が食べるのかもしれません)
私達がホテルで夕飯をとっている時に鹿の親子 (だと思います) が姿を現しました。
きっと、どこかに柵があって、夕食時間にあわせて開放されて、鹿がキノコの香りに惹かれてやってくるのではないかと推測しました。
これはホテルが企画している、'鹿のディナーショー' だと思います。
When we walked in the cedar garden, I wondered why the logs were arranged like that and later I head from a restaurant staff that they are for growing mushrooms.
The scent of the mushroom attracts wild deer.
(Perhaps humans will eventually eat mushrooms.)
A deer parent (mother) and child (I think) appeared while we had our dinner in the hotel.
I guessed that there must be a fence somewhere that would be opened at dinner time and the deer would come, attracted by the scent of the mushrooms.
I think this is a 'Deer Dinner Show' organized by the hotel.
鹿がよく見える席を用意していただきました。

| 朝の散歩 翌朝、杉庭園を散歩しました。 きのこの栽培の丸太を背後から撮影しました。 丸太の周りは金網があり、鹿は匂いに惹かれてきても キノコは食べることができません。 スタッフの方は餌付けはしていないとおしゃっていましたが、 なんとなく、どこかで餌付けはされているような気がしました。 Morning Walk The next morning, we took a walk in the cedar garden. I took a picture of the mushroom cultivation log from behind. There is wire mesh around the log, and even if the deer are attracted to the smell, they cannot eat the mushrooms. The staff said they aren't feeding them, but somehow I felt like they are being fed. |
