1) 金沢城の石垣 

    Stone Walls of Kanazawa Castle

金沢城の石垣
金沢城の石垣が見えます。
右端は、辰巳櫓跡 (タツミヤグラアト) : ★ (Youtube) です。
あとでわかりましたが、辰巳櫓の石垣は
ほぼ当時のものではないようです。
金沢城の石垣は有名であったと記憶していました。
撮影のみしました。

金沢在住の友人、Sちゃんと石川県政記念 ・しいのき迎賓館 : ★で、待ち合わせをしました。

Sちゃんの職場は、その近くでした。

彼女の仕事が終わるまでは、私は一人で観光していました (下記)。

I remembered that the stone walls of
Kanazawa Castle were famous.
I only photographed.

I and my friend, S Chan who lives in Kanazawa, arranged to meet  at the Shiinoki Cultural Complex, Ishikawa Prefecture (★ only in Japanese) .

S Chan's workplace was near there.

Until she finished her work, I was sightseeing alone, below.

2) 警察署跡地の碑 / Police Station Monument

広坂警察署、金沢市広坂警察署、石川県広坂警察署、と改称が続き、現在、石川県金沢中警察署 (イシカワケンカナザワ ナカケイサツショ) になっており、金沢市下本多町六番丁15番地1に移転しています。

この周辺には、警察署や石川県庁などが集中してあったようですが、1つ1つの組織が大きくなり、この地に収まりきらなくなったのではないかと思います。

それぞれが、より大きな建物を得て、移動していったのだろうと、この碑や石川県政記念 ・しいのき迎賓館がの誕生を踏まえて思います。

Hirosaka Kanazawa Naka Police Station Monument

Police Station Monument

The name was changed to Hirosaka Police Station, Kanazawa City Hirosaka Police Station, Ishikawa Prefecture Hirosaka Police Station, and now it is Ishikawa Prefecture Kanazawa Naka Police Station, 

and the police station has moved : Kanazawa City Shimo-hontacho 

6-15-1.

A police station and the Ishikawa Prefectural Office and so on were concentrated in this area, but I think that each organization grew larger and could no longer fit in this area.

Based on the placement of this monument and the Ishikawa Prefectural Government Commemorative Shiinoki Guest House, 

I believe that each of them acquired a larger building and moved on.

3) しいのき迎賓館 / Shiinoki Cultural Complex

 左 : 石川県政記念 ・しいのき迎賓館

 石川県政記念 ・しいのき迎賓館 : ★は、

旧石川県庁舎跡地にあります。

Left : Shiinoki Cultural Complex, Ishikawa Prefecture

The Shiinoki Cultural Complex is located 

on the site of the former Ishikawa Prefectural Office.

迎賓館の玄関にある2本のシイノキは、"堂形のシイノキ(ドウガタノシイノキ)"と呼び、国の天然記念物に指定されています。

正確に言うと、このシイノキは、スダジイ (すだ椎) です。

双方とも樹齢は300年から400年ほどと推定されています。

迎賓館の建物は、旧石川県庁として1924年に竣工。

石川県内の建築物としては初めて鉄筋コンクリート構造を採用したもので、日本国内では最古となる鉄筋コンクリート構造の県庁舎です。

明治建築界三大巨匠の一人とされる、矢橋 賢吉 (ヤバシ ケンキチ / 1869 - 1927) が設計しました。

前回の訪問のときは、シイノキも建物も撮影しましたが、今回は、雨が降っていたので、パス...雨から逃れるように、迎賓館へ駆け込みました。

The Shiinoki Cultural Complex and
 Castanopsis of the Same Shape

Shiinoki Cultural Complex

The two linden trees at the entrance of the Shiinoki Cultural Complex are called "Dogata no Shiinoki : Castanopsis of the Same Shape" and are designated as National Natural Monuments.

To be precise, these Shiinoki trees are Sudajii : Castanopsis Sieboldii.

Both trees are estimated to be between 300 and 400 years old.

The building was completed in 1924 as the former Ishikawa Prefectural Office.

It is the first building in Ishikawa Prefecture to use a reinforced concrete structure, and is the oldest reinforced concrete prefectural government building in Japan.

It was designed by Kenkichi Yabashi (1869 - 1927), one of the three great architects of the Meiji era.

On my last visit, I took pictures of the Shiinoki trees and the building, but this time it was raining, I didn't photograph, I rushed to the Guest House to escape the rain.

4) GIO

GIOのお店は、迎賓館内にあります。
玄関から直接入店できます。

The GIO shop is in the Shiinoki Cultural Complex.
We can enter directly from the entrance.

Sちゃん、おすすめ、'セレクトショップGIO' へ行きました。

前回もここにきましたが、何も買わず、見ただけでした。

今回は、漆器のお椀 (ワン)を購入しました。

自宅のお味噌汁用の椀 が、だいぶ痛んでしまっていたので、もしも、金沢でよいものがあったら購入したいと思っていたのです。

ここで、見つけられてラッキーでした。

後の時間をお椀探しに費やさなくて、よくなりました。

金沢の良い思い出にもなりました。

きっと、お椀を使用するたびに、この旅行を思い出すと思います。

I went to 'Select Shop GIO', on S Chan's recommendation.

I came here last time as well, but I didn't buy anything, just looked.

This time, I purchased lacquerware bowls.

The miso soup bowls I had at home were badly damaged, so I wanted to find ones I could buy in Kanazawa.

I was lucky to find them here.

I didn't have to spend the rest of my time looking for bowls.

It became a good memory of Kanazawa.

I'm sure I will remember this trip every time I use the bowls.

お揃いのものをもっている嬉しさがあります。

Yamanaka-nuri lacquerware 

I bought one of each colour.
Postscript : Later, S Chan also purchased the same bowls.
There is joy in having matching items.

 According to website of Yamanaka-nuri lacquerware,
 "The major feature of Yamanaka lacquerware is the manner
 in which the natural beauty of the grain of the wood
is preserved to the maximum. 

This requires great skills 

with the traditional revolving wheel saw."

According to Wiki, 

"Yamanaka-nuri is the lacquerware produced,

in Yamanaka Onsen region, Kaga, Ishikawa, Japan.

The origin of Yamanaka-nuri can be traced to

 the late 16th century."

お店の品物も、ディスプレイも素敵です。

このお店は、日本製にこだわっているので、いちいち、

「これは日本製ですか？」

と聞かなくて済むのも嬉しいです。

海外旅行をしたときは、その土地特有の製品を買いますが、日本で購入となると、日本製のものが欲しいです。

英国人の夫Rは、私よりも、より日本製の製品を欲しがります。

できれば、彼も私も喜んで使用できるものを買いたいです。

今日は、良い買い物ができたと思います。

The items in the shop and the displays are beautiful.

This shop is very particular about products made in Japan, so I'm glad that I don't have to ask, "Is this made in Japan?"

When I travel abroad, I buy products that are unique to that area, but when it comes to purchasing in Japan, I want products made in Japan.

My British husband, R, wants Japanese products more than I do.

If possible, I would like to buy something that both he and we will be happy to use.

I thought I was able to make a good purchase today.

彼女がカムカナザワを紹介してくれました。

Sちゃんからは金沢のいろいろな素敵なものを紹介してもらいました。

In the middle of my shopping, S Chan came.

❷から❾へ歩きました。

石川県立美術館 (地図❷) のカフェ・"ル ミュゼ ドゥ アッシュ KANAZAWA"をあとにして、石川県政記念 ・しいのき迎賓館 : ★(❾)を目指して歩き始めました。

金沢在住の友人、Sちゃんとそこで待ち合わせをしていました。

美術館を出ると、雨が降ってました。

傘はさしていますが、雨あしは弱いので、撮影はできました。

I walked from ❷ to ❾。

Rain

After leaving the café・"Le Musée de Ash KANAZAWA" in Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of Art  ★ (Map ❷),  I started walking toward the Shiinoki Cultural Complex, Ishikawa Prefecture (❾) : ★ only in Japanese.

There I had arranged to meet my friend, S Chan who lives in Kanazawa.

It was raining when I left the Museum.

I have an umbrella, but the rain is weak, so I was able to photograph.

金澤神社 : ★
りっぱそうな鳥居だったので撮影しました。
のちにこれは金澤神社で、
菅原 道真 (スガワラ ノ ミチザネ / 845 - 903) を
主に祀っていることがわかりました。
神社の由来はここで→★
道真公が前田家の先祖であることを今回の旅行で知りました。
このときは、時間がなくお参りはしませんでした。

Kanazawa Shrine
 Their website is ★ only in Japanese.

I took a picture because it was a torii that looked gorgeous.

 Later I found out that this was Kanazawa Shrine, 

and that it mainly enshrined

Fujiwara no Michizane  (845 - 903).

I didn't have time to visit.

A. 百万石通り / Hyakumangoku Street

百万石通り(ヒャクマンゴクドオリ)は
金沢城公園と兼六園を1周しています。

Yellow Line is Hyakumangoku Street.
Hyakumangoku Street runs around 
Kanazawa Castle Park and Kenroku-en Garden.
The centre is Kanazawa Castle Park.
Bottom Blue Line is the Sai River.
I couldn't fine a map in English, sorry.

百万石通りの歩道です。
百万石通りを兼六園西南に沿って歩きました。
美術館(❷)からは、下りになります。

Hyakumangoku Street
This is the pavement of Hyakumangoku Street.
I walked along Hyakumangoku Street 
southwest of Kenroku-en.
From the Museum (❷), go down.

Hyakumangoku Street

Hyakumangoku means one million kokudaka.

Kokudaka refers to a system for determining land value for taxation purposes under the Tokugawa shogunate of Edo-period and expressing this value in terms of koku of rice.

Kanazawa was Kaga Domain which had an assessed kokudaka of over one million koku, making it by far the largest domain of the Tokugawa shogunate.

B. 旧津田玄蕃邸 

     Former Tsudagenban House

旧 津田玄蕃 邸 : 兼六園管理局
立派な木造建築の家です。
なにかしら〜？と思い、撮影しました。
旧 津田玄蕃 邸 (キュウ ツダ ゲンバン テイ)で、
現在は兼六園管理局として使用されています。

津田玄蕃家は、代々、加賀藩家老職にあり、1万石以上の禄高がありました。

初代当主は、津田 正勝 (ツダマサカツ / 1547 -1617) で、加賀藩初代藩主、前田 利長 (マエダ トシナガ / 1562 - 1614)に仕えました。

蛇足ですが、妻はキリシタンで、キリスト教に対する禁教令後は、

能登七尾の本行寺に生涯幽閉され、そこで亡くなっています。

このお寺は、加賀藩内の隠れキリシタン信仰の拠り所になったとされています。

当時は法に触れて仕方がないのかもしれませんが、子孫が優遇された地位となったことと比べると、この女性は気の毒な生涯だったように感じます。

それでも信仰を貫くことは本人にとっては幸せだったのでしょうか？

Former Tsudagenban House

Former Tsudagenban House : 
 Kenroku-en Garden Management Office
It is a beautiful wooden house.
What is it? I wondered, and photographed.
Former Tsudagenban House, currently used as 
the Kenroku-en Garden Management Office.

For generations, the Tsudagenba family held the position of Karo (chief retainer) of the Kaga Domain and earned a stipend of over 10,000 koku.

The first head of the family was Masakatsu Tsuda (1547-1617), who served Maeda Toshinaga (1562 - 1614), the first lord of the Kaga Domain.

On a side note, his wife was a Christian, and after the ban on Christianity, she was imprisoned for the rest of her life at Hongyo-ji Temple in Noto Nanao, where she died.

This temple is said to have become the centre of hidden Christian faith within the Kaga Domain.

She may have been outlawed at the time, but compared to the privileged status her descendants had, this woman's life seems miserable.

Still, was it happy for the person to stick to her faith?

私が歩いていた歩道は、津田玄蕃邸沿いではありませんでした。

なので、豪華な木造の家を障害物なしで撮影できませんでした。

それでも、その美しいさは、写真から少しは伝わるでしょうか？

The pavement  I was walking on was not along the Tsudagenban House.

So I couldn't photograph the gorgeous wooden house without obstacles.

Still, do you get a little sense of its beauty from my photos?

C. 緑 / Green

雨は苔をより美しく見せます。
Rain makes the moss look more beautiful.

木々も綺麗....
The trees are beautiful....

 D. 広坂 / Hiro-saka

私が下ってきた坂は、広坂 (廣坂)という名前でした。

江戸時代、この周辺は武家屋敷が多く、この坂は通常のさかよりも広かったので、広坂と呼ばれました。

広坂は、地名にもなっています。

地名の由来はこの坂の名前からです。

標識 (下の写真) には、

"加賀藩時代から明治中期頃までは、安房殿坂 (アワドノザカ)、

作事坂 (サクジザカ)ともいわれていた"

とあります。

Hiro-saka

The slope I came down was called Hiro-saka；wide slope in Japanese.

During the Edo period, there were many samurai residences in this area, and this slope was wider than a normal slope, so it was called Hiro-saka.

Hirosaka is also a place name (address).

The origin of the place name is from the name of this slope.

According to the sign, 

"From the period of the Kaga clan to the mid-Meiji period, it was also called Awadonozaka and Sakujizaka."

3) 赤い鳥居の道 / Red Torii Path

昨日と今日、自分が訪ねた場所、
現在地を確認しました。

Yesterday and today, I checked the places I visited 
and my current location.

待ち合わせ場所の
石川県政記念 ・しいのき迎賓館 (地図：真ん中下)
の近くまできました。

I came close to our meeting place, 
the Shiinoki Cultural Complex, Ishikawa Prefecture 
 (map : centre bottom).

以前、金沢に来たときも、昨日も今朝も、見かけて、気になっていた赤い鳥居がありました。

それが、百万石通りにそって続く赤い鳥居です。

広坂をくだり、その赤い鳥を目の前にしました。

歩道をゆくという選択もありましたが、赤い鳥居が続く道を選択しました。

広坂稲荷神社の鳥居
この鳥居は広坂稲荷神社への参道であることが
あとでわかりました。
また、広坂稲荷神社は、
石浦神社 (イシウラジンジャ:★) の
敷地内にあります。

Torii Gates of Hirosaka Inari Shrine

Later I found out that these torii gates are the approach to 

Hirosaka Inari Shrine.

Hirosaka Inari Shrine is located on the grounds of 

Ishiura Shrine :★ only in Japanese.

Red Torii Path

Previously when I visited Kanazawa and when I came to Kanazawa yesterday, and this morning, there are red torii gates that I was curious about.

These are the red torii gates that follow Hyakumangashi Street.

I went to Hirosaka and the red torii gates were in front of me.

There was a choice of going on the pavement, but I chose the path where the red torii gates continued.

101鳥居
鳥居は、101基あるそうで、
2019年に設置されました。

and they were installed in 2019.

分かれ道
分かれ道になっています。
1つ(右)は歩道に出て、もう1つ(左)は
石浦神社に向かいます。
でも、私が歩いていた時はこのことはしりませんでした。
私はまっすぐに進みました。

Fork in the Path
It's a fork in the Path.
One (right) goes out on the pavement and 
the other (left) goes to Ishiura Shrine
But I didn't know this when I was walking.
I went straight on.

宮司さんは、

"「鳥居には『厄よけ』の意味があり、災害のない

平安な世の中への祈りをささげている。

また、101は世界的に『繁栄』を表す数字とされ、

新しい時代への期待と願いを込めている」"

とお話ししたそうです。: ★
正式名称は、
'奉納永代鳥居'(ホウノウ エイダイ トリイ) です。

The chief priest of the shrine said, 

"The torii has the meaning of 'warding off evil',

they offer prayers for a peaceful world without disasters. 

 Also, 101 is a number that expresses 

'prosperity' worldwide, and it contains expectations 

and wishes for a new era."

The official name is 'Honou Eidai Torii'.

Perpetual Night Light Stand
In the Edo Period, Hirosaka Inari Shrine made this light stand.
Because the Shrine has been along this main road,
 this became a mark for tourists at night,
as well as it could be seen 
from Kitamaebune and fishing boats in Kanaiwa port. 

鳥居を歩いていると、少し怖い感じがします。

異質な空間であり、聖域にたいする緊張感でしょうか？

また一方で、ワクワク感もあり、好奇心も刺激されました。

Walking through the torii gate feels a little scary.

Is it a different in kind space, a tension to the sanctuary?

On the other hand, it was exciting and stimulated my curiosity.

Ema is small wooden plaque, in which Shinto and

 Buddhist worshippers write prayers or wishes.

石浦神社
石浦神社は金沢で最古の神社と言われています。
今日は鳥居周辺から撮影し、お参りはしませんでした。

Ishiura Shrine
Ishiura Shrine is said to be the oldest shrine in Kanazawa.
Today, I photographed from around the torii gates 
 and did not visit.

雨あしが早くなってきたので、雨宿りもかねて、早く、しいのき迎賓館へ着きたいと思いつつ、赤信号が変わるのを待ちました。

As the rain got stronger, I wanted to get to the the Shiinoki Cultural Complex as soon as possible to take shelter from the rain, and waited for the red light to change.
