今日は私が心身ともに疲れていました。

制作後にお風呂へ入り、ベッドに横になると、もう、ベッドから出ることができませんでした。

ホワイトディ用にワインを用意していました。

夫Rがそのワインといちご、スナックを寝室まで運んでくれました。

I was tired both physically and mentally today.

When I took a bath after working and lay down on the bed, I couldn't get out of bed anymore.

I had prepared a wine for White Day.

My husband R brought the wine, strawberry and snacks to the bedroom.

乾杯
Rのおかげで、'ホワイトディ' のお祝いができました。
いつもありがとう！

Former Teacher Passed on 18th of January 

2月末に、友人のKiちゃんからのメールで、秋山 孝 (アキヤマ タカシ/ 1952 -  2022: ★/ ★/ ★ ) 先生が今年の1月18日に亡くなったことを知りました。

心ばかりのお花を奥様のHさんに送らせていただきました。

私は高校3年の時に秋山先生と奥様のHさんに会い、お二人のご自宅へ伺い、美大入学のため教えを受けました。

受験のテクニックだけでなく、アートの歴史やアートに対する思考もお聞きしました。

当時先生はカリカチュアの研究をされたいらっしゃったようでその方面の海外の雑誌やアーティストも教えていただきました。

先生から

「大学に入った後も、アートの世界は、果てしなく広がっているんだよ」

「人は、'才能がない'と嘆くけれど、それを本当に嘆くことができるのは、99%の努力をした後のこと。

多くの人は '99%の努力'をしないと僕は思うんだよね。

まあ、逆に言うと、努力できる人間が才能があるってことなんだよ」

と、受験期に言われたことを今でも覚えています。

今の私のアートに対する根本的な考えは、秋山先生の教えが基礎になっていると思います。

大学合格後も、個人的に教えを受けました。

卒業後、先生に会う機会がほとんどありませんでした。

最後にお会いしたのは、英国留学前の2003年の個展に先生がいらしてくださった時でした。

その時、先生は多摩美術大学の教授になられていました。

私が個展の記録本を送った時、先生から電話をくださりました。

それが先生の声を聞いた最後でした。

3月14日、今日、Hさんにから、手紙と他のものが届きました。

その中に、先生の版画作品が含まれていたことは、嬉しい驚きでした。

Hさん、ありがとうございました。

秋山先生のご冥福をお祈りいたします。

Former Teacher Passed on 18th of January

At the end of February, I learned from an email from my friend Ki-chan that Takashi Akiyama (1952 - 2022 : ★/ ★/ ★) died on January 18th of this year.

I sent my heartfelt flowers to his wife, H San.

When I was in my third year of high school, I met Akiyama Sensei and his wife, H San, visited their home, and they taught me, for entry exams of art university.

I heard it was not only about the technique of taking an examination, but also about the history of art and his thoughts on art.

At that time, Akiyama Sensei seemed to study caricature, and he also showed me overseas magazines and explained about artists in that area.

From the teacher,

"Even after entering university, the world of art is endlessly expanding."

"People lament that they do 'not have talent', but they can really lament it only after 99% of their efforts.

I don't think many people make '99% effort'.

Well, to put it the other way around, it means that people who can make an effort are talented. "

I still remember what I was told during the exam period.

I think my fundamental ideas about art are based on the teachings of Akiyama Sensei.

Even after passing the university entry exam, I was taught personally.

After graduating, I had few chances to meet him.

The last time I met was when he visited my exhibition in 2003 before studying in Britain.

At that time, he was a professor in Tama Art University.

When I sent him the record book of my recent exhibition, he called me.

That was the last time I heard his voice.

Today on 14th of March, I received a letter and other things from H San.

I had a pleasant surprise, that she included prints by him.

Thank you very much, H San.

I pray for the soul of Akiyama Sensei  : Professor Akiyama.

Uguisu is Japanese Bush Warbler 

鶯の姿を探してカメラが手ぶれのように動きます。

結局、姿は撮影できませんでした。

The film is moving looking for the appearance of Uguisu,

you might feel the moving is like a camera shake 

After all, I couldn't catch them.

朝の光を浴びて
さくらんぼの木、桜桃 (オウトウ) が咲きました。
咲いたと思うとすぐに散ってしまう花です。

In the Morning Light

A cherry tree has bloomed.

They are flowers that scatter as soon as I think it has bloomed.

13th of March around 6:00

朝の光は赤みを帯びています。

実際の花の色よりもピンクがかっています。

The morning light is reddish.

It is more pinkish than the actual flower colour.

夜、桜は、幻想的なsceneryを作ります。

Cherry Blossoms and the Hazy Moon
At night, the cherry blossoms create a fantastic scenery.

手ぶれの写真
なかなか、素敵な雰囲気が伝わる写真が撮れません。
この手ぶれの写真が最もその雰囲気に近いように感じます。

Photograph with Camera Shake

It's hard to take pictures that convey a wonderful atmosphere.

I feel that this camera shake photograph is the closest to that atmosphere.　

フラッシュ
私は撮影の際、フラッシュを使用することは稀です。
ですが、今回はフラッシュを使用、ようやく花が
はっきり撮れました。

I rarely use a flash when photographing.

3月1日の朝、今年初めて鶯の声を聞きました。

それも練習中の中途半端なフレーズでなく、正式の♪ホーホケキョ♪

その後何度か聞きましたが、録音しようとするといなくなってしまうか、黙ってしまいます。

なぜわかるのかしら？と不思議に思います。

本日、3月10日にようやく録音できました。

窯が作動していたので、その音、機械音も入ってしまいますが、ここに載せます。

On the morning, 1st of March, I heard Uguisu's song : Japanese Bush Warbler's song for the first time this year.

It was not a half-hearted phrase during practice, but a formal

♪Hooo-hokekyo♪

I've heard it several times after that, but when I try to record it, it disappears or it is silent.

Why, do they know? I wonder.

Today I was finally able to record, on 10th of March.

Since the kiln was operating, the sound, mechanical noise is included, but I show it here anyway.

3) お花見の季節 / Ohanami Season 

A. 桜桃/ Cherry Tree

さくらんぼの木、桜桃 (オウトウ) の花が咲きました。

Cherry Tree's flowers blossom.

今年もさくらんぼの実は、リスや鳥たちに食べられて
私達の口には入らないでしょう。

This year too, the cherries will be eaten by squirrels and birds and
will not reach our mouths.

B. 鉢植え / Potted Plant

撮影は、3月12日です。

The photographs were taken on 12th of March.

マーガレット
葉は元気はないけれど、濃いピンクの花が
たくさん咲き始めました。

 Marguerite
The leaves are not healthy,
but many dark pink flowers have begun to bloom.

ますます伸びて
葉牡丹はますます伸びてゆきます。
通常の形態も面白いですが、のっぼてゆく姿にも
興味をそそられます。

Growing Taller and Taller 
Ornamental Kales grow taller and taller.
The normal form is interesting,
but it is also intriguing to see how it goes up.

C. 地植え / Ground Planting

'冬に咲く花'として購入した、パンジーの苗を地植えにもしました。

謳い文句通りに、冬の間、咲いていました。

暖かくなると、しっかりと大きな花が咲き、冬よりも春の方が好きなのだな〜と感じます。

冬は無理やり咲いていたようです。

頑張って咲いてくれて、寂しい庭を明るくしてくれて、ありがとう！

これからは、気持ちよく自由に咲いてください。

Ground Planting

We also planted pansy seedlings that we bought as 'flowers that bloom in winter'.

They were in bloom during the winter, as the 'catchword' says.

When they get warmer, big flowers bloom strongly, and I feel that they like spring more than winter.

It seemed that they were forcibly blooming in winter.

Thank you for your hard blooming and brightening the sad garden!

From now on, please feel free to bloom.

3) お隣の新しい花 / New Flowers Next-door

牡丹
お隣の庭の真ん中に、立派な牡丹 (ボタン) が植えられていました。
基本、立派な日本庭園なので、この'花壇'は、
邪道なのかもしれません。
が、豪華な花たちが気持ちを明るくするのは確かです。
この花壇を作る気持ちはよ〜く理解できます。
また、私も楽しめるので嬉しい！

Peony

Fine Peonies are planted in the middle of the garden next-door.

Basically, it is a splendid Japanese garden, 

so this 'flowerbed' may be out of place.

However, it is certain that the gorgeous flowers

 brighten their feelings.

I can understand the feeling of making this flowerbed.

Also, I'm happy because I can enjoy them too!

A. 鎌倉山 / Kamakurayama

大町 (鎌倉市) のリトグラフ工房へ向かいます。

実は昨日も工房へ行きました。

今日は今週、３回目です。

個展への日にちが迫っているので、少し詰めて通っています。

Kamakurayama

I headed to the lithograph studio in Ōmachi, Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture.

Actually, I went to the workshop yesterday as well.

Today was the third time this week.

My exhibition in April is coming up soon,  so I'm slightly compressing my visits to the studio.

草花屋・苔丸
今日は開店しています。
鳥の声がしていたので、苔丸さんを
バス停からビデオ撮影しました (下)。
苔丸さんをビデオ撮影するは初めてです。

Flower and Grass shop, Kokemaru
I heard a bird's voice, so I took a video of Kokemaru
 from a bus stop, below.
This was my first time to take a video of Kokemaru.

若いヒヨドリの声かと推測します。

良い声とは言い難いですが、大人のヒヨドリよりは

可愛らしい感じがします。

I guess it's the song of a young Brown-eared Bulbul : Hiyodori.

It's hard to say that it's a good voice, 

but I feel it is more cute than an adult bulbul.

B. 大町 / Ōmachi

蕾
たくさんの蕾が膨らみ初めています。
何の花でしょうか？
紅梅の1つでしょうか？

Buds
Many buds are starting to swell.
What kind of flower is it?
Is it one of the red plums?

水仙とヒヤシンス
地植えのヒヤシンスが珍しいと感じます。
私にとっては、ヒヤシンスは水耕栽培のイメージです。

Narcissus and Hyacinth
I feel that a hyacinth planted in the ground is rare.
For me, hyacinths give an image of hydroponics.

土曜日、良いお天気、鎌倉は多くの人で賑わっていました。

若年層が多いように感じました。

コロナを気にしない年齢層が観光に来ているのかもしれません。

Saturday, good weather, Kamakura was crowded with many people.

I felt that there were many young people.

It may be that the age group who does not care about corona is coming sightseeing.

2) 工房 / Studio

試刷り
白色ための新しい版です。
白色の経験があまりないので、緊張します。

Test Print
A new plate for white.
I'm nervous because I don't have much experience with white.

前回の青の試刷りに、今回の白の版を載せました。

Test Print
I printed the white plate on the previous blue test print.

実際の青版の作品に白の版を刷りましたが、思ったようにあがらなかったので、過去版を再び刷りました。

別の新しい版が必要に思われます。

Y先生が言うには、実際の作業をやりながら、進める、私のやり方は西洋風だそうです。

この工房で、他にこのやり方をするのは、Iさんです。

彼はNYで版画を学び、現在は専門学校の版画の先生です。

自宅にエッチングの工房を持っていて、リトグラフはこの工房でしています。

彼は、リトグラフは日本で始め、「リトグラフは難しい」とよく言っています。

Y先生は、日本のやり方は、最終イメージをしっかり決め、版の数を決め、作業を進めて行くのだと言います。

具象の絵(具象絵画)を版画にする場合は、私は、そのやり方をしていたと思います。

4月の個展のための版画作品は、抽象と具象の間に感じます。

Iさんは抽象で、モノ作品を制作しています。

具象の絵は企画が容易なので、最初にいろいろなことを決められるのではないかと思います。

試刷り
前回の黒の試刷りに、今回の白の版を載せました。
青版の後にこの試刷りをしました。
結局、モノクロ作品には、今日は、白い版は刷りませんでした。

Test Print
I printed the white plate on the previous black test print.
I did this test print after the blue platemaking.
Having reviewed this test print, I didn't print the white plate
on the monochrome works today.

Studio

I printed the white plate on the actual blue works, but it didn't work as well as I expected, so I reprinted the past plate over the white.

Now it seems that another new plate is needed.

According to Y Sensei, my method of proceeding while doing the actual work is Western style.

The other person who does this in this studio is I San.

He studied printmaking in NY and is now a print teacher in a Specialized training college.

He has his etching studio at his home, and he does lithographs in this studio.

He started lithographs in Japan and often says "lithographs are difficult".

Y Sensei says that the Japanese way is to firmly decide the final image, decide on the number of plates, and then proceed with the work.

If I wanted to make a figurative picture (representational painting) into a print, I think I have done it this way.

In my view, my print works for my exhibition in April are between abstract and figurative art.

 I San's works are abstract and he creates mono works.

I think since it is easy to plan a figurative picture, we can decide on the plate things first.

ひいちゃん
Y家では猫の多頭飼いをしています。
この子は、新人のヒイカくん、'ひいちゃん'と呼ばれています。
私が気になるらしく、最近よく工房へ来ます。
トイレに行くと、トイレの前で待っています。
私のことを見定めているような気がします。
写真撮影も嫌がりません。
まだ子供で、もっと大きくなるのだそうです。

Hii Chan

The Y family has owned multiple cats.

This is a newcomer, Hiika and is called 'Hii Chan'.

He seems to be interested in me, 

recently often coming into the studio.

When I go to the loo, he is waiting in front of the loo.

I feel like he judges me.

He doesn't dislike to be photographed.

I heard he's still a kid and he will be getting bigger.

その後、Y先生にGENBAGENについて話したら、先生は知っていました。

そして、GENBAGENのFU-SAさんが工房へ来たことがあることを聞きました。

その訪問は2006年で、私がこの工房へ通い始める前のことでした。

After that, when I talked to Y Sensei about GENBAGEN, he knew about it.

And I heard that FU-SA San of  GENBAGEN had visited his studio.

The visit was in 2006, before I started going to this studio.

この日、工房へ向かうときは、GENBAGENは閉まっていましたが、帰りには開いていました。

けれども、私には、道を渡り、帰りのバスの時刻を遅らせる、

体力と気力がありませんでした。

またの機会に...。

GENBAGEN was closed when I headed to the studio on that day,

 but it was open on my way home.

However, I didn't have the strength and energy to cross the road 

and delay the time of the return bus.

B. しゃべる肖像画ポスター 

     Talking Portrait Poster

鎌倉駅でバスを待っている間に、"しゃべる肖像画ポスター "を見つけました。

現在放映中の、NHKの大河ドラマ、"鎌倉殿の13人" (カマクラドノノ13人) の広告の1つでした。

I-phoneでアクセスしようとしたときにバスが来たので、しませんでした。

次の機会にトライしてみようと思います。

しゃべる肖像画ポスター 

 Talking Portrait Poster

人物は、北条義時 (ホウジョウヨシトキ / 1163 - 1224) 役の

小栗 旬 (オグリシュン / 1982 ~) に似せています。

The character resembles Shun Oguri (1982 ~) who plays the role of 

Hōjō Yoshitoki (1163 - 1224).

Talking Portrait Poster

While waiting for the bus at Kamakura Station, I found a "Talking Portrait Poster".

It was one of the advertisements for "The 13 Lords of the Shogun" (Kamakura-dono no Jūsan-nin) currently being broadcast on NHK as NHK taiga drama.

When I was about to access it with my I-phone, I couldn't because the bus came.

I will try it at the next opportunity.
