今年、私は、"未読の本の山" 崩しを目標に、約30冊の本を読みました。

2021年12月末までに、その山は大して崩すこともできませんでした。

まあ、"本の山" 崩しを始めたという行為を評価したいと思います(笑)。

また、読了した本の数が少なくとも、読み流しではなく、思考をまとめ、感想をブログにあげられたことはよかったと思います。

数年前から、"本の山"に埋もれていた『夜の写本師』を9月に、

『魔道師の月』を12月に読了しました。

(3ヶ月間に2冊しか読んでいなかったことに気がつき、愕然とします）

両書は乾石 智子 (イヌイ トモコ / ? ~) 氏の

〈オーリエラントの魔道師〉シリーズに含まれます。

このシリーズは、別世界の物語、ハイ・ファンタジーです。

久しぶりに、純粋なファンタジー (ハイ・ファンタジー) の物語を読みました。

本当に私はファンタジーが好き！
 
自分にあっているな〜と、『夜の写本師』の読み始めに感じ、安心感もありました。

読書傾向がファンタジー文学に偏っていたので、ここ数年違う分野の本を読んでみようと試していました。

それらはそれなりに楽しくありましたが、自分にあったファンタジーの物語を読むと、自分の世界はここだと確信します。

『夜の写本師』は友人Kからもらい、同時期に『魔道師の月』を購入しました。

その時には、複数冊のシリーズになっていることを知りませんでした。

私の購入後にも、シリーズの本は増えていました。

新しい本も読んでみたいと思いつつ、今の "山" を崩してから購入！と自分に言い聞かせています。

実は数年前に『夜の写本師』は一度読み始めていました。

その頃から内容に疲れると本をしばらく閉じたり、休憩を入れたりしないと読了できなくなっていました。

第一部で主人公の育ての親や同僚の少女が殺害されて本を閉じて休憩していました。

休憩が長すぎて、『夜の写本師』を読了したと勘違いし、第一部の結末がこの本の結末だと思いました。

あの続きを読みたければ、続編の『魔道師の月』を読まなればならないと思っていました。

今回、最初から物語を読みたいと思い、丁寧に読みたいとも思いました。

『夜の写本師』を読み始め、第一部しか読んでいなかったことに気がつきました。

今回は、本を閉じることなく、読み進め、最後まで読了、この本の物語はこの本の中で終わり、ほっとしました。

『魔道師の月』 は、サラッと読みたいな〜と思いましたが、実際は、そのようには行かず、時間がかかりました。

時間がかかったのは本のせいではなく、時期が私の個展準備と重なり、読書への時間がとりづらかったからです。

両書とも私には面白く、好きな本になりました。

Two Books

The books haven't been translated into English yet, so spellings such as character names and unique things are based on my guess.

This year, I'm aiming to break my 'Pile of Books' that I haven't read, although I have read about 30 books from the 'Pile'.

By the end of December 2021, the 'Pile' couldn't be broken much.

Well, I would like to appreciate my act of starting to break the 'Pile of Books'  (Laugh).

Also, it is good for me, although the number of books I read was small, at least the books were not quick-reads, and I have got my ideas and  my impressions in shape on my blog.

I read "SCRIBE OF SORCERY" in September and "SORCERER'S MOON" in December, they had been buried in the 'Pile' for a few years.

(I'm shocked to find that I've only read two books in three months.)

Both books are included in the <AURIELANT SORCERERS> series by Tomoko Inui.

This series is stories of another world, High Fantasy.

After a long time, I read stories of pure fantasy (High Fantasy).

I really like Fantasy!

When I began reading "SCRIBE OF SORCERY", I felt that it suits me, and I felt reassured.

My reading tendency has been biased towards fantasy literature, so I've been trying to read books in different fields for the last few years.

They were fun in their own way, but when I read the fantasy story that suits me, I'm convinced that my world is here.

I was given "SCRIBE OF SORCERY" by my friend K and I bought 

"SORCERER'S MOON" at the same time.

At that time, I didn't know that it was a series of a few books.

Even after my purchase, the number of books in the series was increasing.

I didn't know they are in the series when I bought them.

After my purchase, the number of books in the series has increased by several.

I wanted to read the new books, but I'm telling myself, I will buy them after breaking the current "the 'Pile'! 

Actually, a few years ago, I once started reading 

"SCRIBE OF SORCERY".

From that time on, when I was tired of the contents, I had to close the book for a while or take a break before I could read it.

In the first part, the hero's parent and a colleague girl were murdered, I had closed the book and took a break.

My break was too long, therefore I misunderstood that I had read "SCRIBE OF SORCERY", and I thought that the ending of the first part was the ending of this book.

I thought if I want to read that continuation, I must read "SORCERER'S MOON".

This time, I wanted to read the story from the beginning, and I also wanted to read it carefully.

This time, I wanted to read the story from the beginning, so I started reading "SCRIBE OF SORCERY" and realized that I had only read the first part.

This time, I read it without closing the book, read it to the end, and the story of this book ended in this book, and I was relieved.

I wanted to read "SORCERER'S MOON" lightly, but in reality, it didn't go that way and it took a long time.

It took a long time not because of the books, but because the time coincided with my preparation for my exhibition and it was difficult to take time to read.

Both books were interesting to me and became my favourite books.

1) 姉と甥来訪 

    My Sister and My Nephew Visit 

母が我が家に8泊していました。

本日、姉Yが母を迎えに来ました。

実は私とYが、この日まで母に内緒にしていたことがありました。

それは甥S、母にとっては孫が、彼の車でYと共に母を迎えに来ることでした。

Sは、私達からの母への少し遅れたクリスマス・プレゼントでありました。

先にSのことを母に知らせて、実現できないとがっかりさせるので内緒であったこともあります。

母はSに会うのは数年ぶり、私達は10年ぶりでした。

母は庭のデッキに出ていたので、母の前にSが突然現れ、びっくりし、嬉し泣きをしていました。

私達の 'クリスマス・プレゼント'は成功したと言えるでしょう。

甥はすでに独立しているので姉宅に住んでいません。

母と息子でも久しぶりに会う機会でした。

Sは、初めて私達の鎌倉宅を訪れました。

母、姉、甥、Rと私の5人が一緒にいること、鎌倉宅にいることは初めてのことでした。

お土産を持ってきてくれます。
ありがとう！

Souvenirs from My Sister
Whenever I meet my sister, she brings me a lot of souvenirs.

My Sister and My Nephew Visit

My mother stayed in our house for 8 nights.

Today, my sister Y came to pick up our mother.

Actually, we had kept a secret from our mother until this day.

It was for my nephew S, a grandson for our mother, to pick her up with Y by his car.

S was a little late Christmas gift from us to our mother.

And also it was the secret because if he couldn't make it because something happened after we had told our mother about S, she would be disappointed.

She hadn't seen S in a few years and we hadn't seen him in 10 years.

Our mother was on the deck in the garden, so S suddenly appeared in front of her and she was surprised and began crying happily.

I can say that our 'Christmas gift' was a success.

My nephew is already independent so he doesn't live near my sister's house.

It was an opportunity for mother and son for the first time in a long time.

S visited our Kamakura house for the first time.

It was the first time for us all, our mother, Y, S, R and myself, to be in our Kamakura house.

2) "ルミリュウ鎌倉山" 

     "le milieu・Kamakurayama"

YとSを迎え、一緒にランチをとりました。

いつもは、ゲストを手料理で迎えます。

ですが今回は個展の準備のために、私の時間と体力に余力がないので、近くのパティスリー・カフェの

"ルミリュウ鎌倉山"にランチをゲスト到着前に夫Rと買いに行きました。

買ってきたランチを自宅で食べました。

この日Sは、彼の友人達と約束があったので、ゆっくりとした滞在ではありませんでしたが、家族としてはとても有意義な時間でした。

ここには載せませんが、家族の記念写真もたくさん撮りました。

母は幸せな気持ちで姉宅へ移っていったと思います。

母とYには年の初めにまた会う予定です。

We made Y and S welcome and had lunch together.

I usually welcome guests with home cooking.

However, this time I have no spare time or physical strength because of preparing for my exhibition, so I and  my husband R went to a nearby Patisserie, "le milieu・Kamakurayama" for buying our lunch before our guests arrived.

We had our bought lunch in our home.

This day, S had an appointment with his friends, so it was not such a leisurely stay, however, it was a very meaningful time for our family.

I won't put any here, but I took a lot of commemorative photographs of my family.

I think our mother moved to my sister's house with happiness.

I would be meeting them again at the beginning of the new year.

ミニチュア門松
会計のカウンターには、ミニチュアの門松がありました。

Miniature Kadomatsu
At the accounting counter, there were miniature Kadomatsu.
According to Wiki about Kadomatsu,
"A kadomatsu (門松, "gate pine") is a traditional Japanese decoration as yorishiro of the New Year placed in pairs in front of homes to welcome ancestral spirits or kami of the harvest."

サンドイッチ
上の段のバゲットのサンドイッチを1種類ずつ購入しました。
食に問題があるRは、ここの殆どの
サンドイッチが食べられません。
ラッキーなことに、今日は彼が食べられるものが1つありました。

Sandwich

We bought baguette sandwiches from the upper shelf one by one.

R, who has food problems, cannot eat most sandwiches here.

Luckily, there was a sandwich he could eat today.

ケーキ
ケーキは、数種類を1点づつ選びました。
季節のマロンケーキが800円以上してびっくり！
ですが特別なゲストとRのために特別に2つ購入しました。
みんなで (5人で) 味見をしましたが、800円の味は
感じられずガッカリ...(苦笑)。
私の最も好きなケーキを姉Yに勧めると彼女も
その味が好きでした。
姉妹は味覚が似ているのですね〜。

Cake

For the cake, we chose several types one by one.

I was surprised that the seasonal marron cake was over 800 yen!

But we bought two especially for special guests and R.

We (five people) all tasted them, but we were disappointed 

because I (we) couldn't feel the taste of 800 yen (Wry Smile).

When I recommended my favourite cake to my sister Y, 

she also liked the taste.

Sisters have similar tastes, don't they (we)?

キッシュ
私は今年から、ここのキッシュのファンです。
家から近い、サイズが大きい、そして玉ねぎやキノコの味が
恋しい私を満足させてくれるからです。
Rが玉ねぎ、キノコ類が嫌いなので、通常我が家の食卓には
これらの食材を含む料理はのりません。

Quiche

I've been a fan of quiche here, starting this year.

The shop is close to our house, the quiche is big, 

and the taste satisfies me

 who misses the taste of onions and mushrooms.

R doesn't like onions and mushrooms,

 so our dishes on our table usually do not have these.

3) 帰路の風景 / Scenery on Our Way Back

新しい家
バス通りの山側に建っている家で、
個性的な野外彫刻が複数あります。
アートに興味を持たれていることが非常によくわかります。
私は、民藝博物館のようだな〜と感じます。

The house is located on the mountain side of Bus Street 

and has several unique outdoor sculptures.

I can see very well that they are interested in art.
I feel here like is a folk art museum.

彫刻は家主さんの作品なのかもしれません。
The sculpture may be the work of the owner.

良い感じの階段
こちらはバス通りから谷側へ降りる階段です。
家につながっているのだと思われますが
どの家かはわかりません。

Good Atmosphere Steps 

They are steps that go down from the bus street to the valley side.

I think it leads to a house, but I don't know which one.

ゲストの到着時間が気になって、あまり撮影できませんでした。

撮影はあまりできなかったけれど、ゲスト到着時間前に帰宅できて

よかったです。

I was worried about the arrival time of our guests, so I couldn't photograph much.

Although I couldn't photograph much, I was pleased we got home before our guests arrived.

My mother stayed in our house from 21st of December

 for 8 nights and 9 days.

He divided the mother's share so that 

she can eat without hesitation.

1つの洋梨
梨農家の友人T家族から、
大きな洋梨 (ラ・フランスまたはシルバー・ベル?) と
巨大な梨 (愛宕梨?) が前日、箱で届きました。
どちらの梨も大きく甘みが深く美味しかったです。
T家の皆さんありがとう！
箱の写真も梨を切る前の写真も撮影忘れました、ごめんなさい。

One Pear

Big pears ('La France' or 'Silver Bell'?) and 

huge pears (Atago Japanese Pear?) arrived in a box the day before 

 from T Family, pear farmer friends.

Both types of pears were big, sweet and delicious.

我が家では、クリスマス・ツリーやクリスマス装飾は、
例年、新年1月半ばくらいまで飾っています。

2) スタジオのクリスマス・ライト

     Christmas Lights in Studio

陶芸制作のスタジオ(工房)は、自宅の2階にあります。

クリスマスシーズンは、屋内にはクリスマス装飾でたくさんにありますが、スタジオには三箇所のみです。

1つが窓際のパステルカラーのボウル型のライトです。

随分前に友人Tからクリスマスプレゼントとしてもらいました。

小型のクリスマスツリーに飾ったり、リビングの床に飾ったりしましたが、ここ数年はスタジオの窓際が定番です。

優しい光で、見るだけで温かく、幸せな気持ちになります。

そしてまた、Tを思い出し、ありがとうの気持ちも湧きます。

Christmas Lights in Studio

My ceramic studio is on the first floor of our house.

During the Christmas season, there are plenty of Christmas decorations inside, but only three in the studio.

One is a pastel bowl-shaped hanging lights by the window.

I was given these as a Christmas present from my friend T a long time ago.

I used to decorate it on a small Christmas tree or on the floor of the living-room, but for the past few years, the studio window has become a staple.

The gentle lights make me feel warm and happy just by looking at them.

And also I remember T and feel thankful.

リンドウ号

母の鎌倉土産を買うために外出しました。

帰宅時のバスが、この路線には珍しく感じる、

レトロ調リンドウ号でした。

リンドウは鎌倉市の '市の花' です。

I went out to buy my mother's Kamakura souvenirs.

The bus when I got home was 

the retro-style Lindou : Japanese Gentian, 

which I felt is unusual for this route.

Lindou is the 'City Flower' of Kamakura.

換気口 

現代的な建物や乗り物は換気口を目立たないように工夫します。

が、レトロ調のこのバスは強調しています。

 Ventilator

Modern buildings and vehicles should be designed so that 

the ventilation openings are inconspicuous.

However, this retro-style bus emphasizes it.

4) 相模湾 / Sagami Bay

私よりさらに運動不足の母を散歩に連れ出して、美しい相模湾の景色を見ました。

自宅から、'カフェ・マウンテイン' (最寄りバス停近く)まで歩きました。

Rが折りたたみ椅子を運び、母は疲れたところでそのお椅子に座って休みました。

初日は数回休みましたが、後日、母は一度の休みで往復歩きました。

Sagami Bay

We took my mother, who exercises less than me, for a walk and saw the beautiful scenery of Sagami Bay.

We walked from our house to 'Cafe Mountain' (near our nearest bus stop).

R carried a folding chair, and my mother sat on the chair and rested when she was tired.

She sat a few times on the first day, but at a later date, she walked back and forth only having  rested once.

5) クリスマス / Christmas 

クリスマスであろうが、お正月であろうが、私が個展準備期間に入っているときは、制作をしています。

今回は特に、リトグラフ制作、陶芸制作、ブログ更新 (写真整理含)、ドローイング、家事を並行して進めています。

体調を崩しては元も子もないので、'少しづつ、丁寧に' を心がけています。

[ちなみに、'元も子もない' の由来は、元は元金、子は利子 (利息) の意味であると言うことを今まで知らずに使用していました。]

ブログ更新が遅れ気味になるのは、このような状態だからと言いたいところですが、それは常時起きていることです (苦笑)。

クリスマス・イヴ / Christmas Eve

Christmas 

Whether it's Christmas or New Year, when I am preparing for my exhibition, I continue working for it.

This time, in particular, I am working on lithograph prints, ceramics, blog update (including photo organization), drawing, and housework, all in parallel.

If I get ill, I stop everything, so I try to be 'little by little, carefully'.

I'd like to say that this is the reason why my blog updates tend to be delayed, but that's always happening (Wry Smile).

イブの夕飯 /  Christmas Eve Dinner

野菜のグラタン
日頃、母は西洋料理を食べないので、
とても気に入ってくれました。

Vegetable Gratin
Mother doesn't usually eat Western food,
so she liked these very much.

サラダリーフはRが盛り付けてくれました。
手抜きの料理が豪華に見えます(笑)。

R prepared salad leaves.
My lazy cooking came to look gorgeous (Laugh).

クリスマス / Christmas 

クリスマスの夕飯のメインは、通常は、鶏の丸焼きです。

けれども今年は、Rが作ったにんじんスティックだと私は思います。

色とりどりのスティックは全てにんじんです。

テーブルに出す際、リボンを解くパフォーマンス入りです。

R、素敵な主菜をありがとう！

The main Christmas Dinner is usually whole roasted chicken.

But this year, I think it's carrot sticks made by R.

All the colorful sticks are carrots.

It is a performance to untie the ribbon when putting it on the table.

Thank you, R for the wonderful main dish!

母が滞在中、私達がアルコール類を飲むときは、
母はノンアルコールのアップルシードルを飲んでいました。

During my mother's stay, when we drank alcohol, 
she was drinking non-alcoholic apple cider.

和風に味付けした鶏、美味しかったです。
ほっとしました。
母が好きな芽キャベツを用意しました。
Rは芽キャベツが好きではないけれど、
結構喜んで食べてました。

The chicken seasoned in Japanese style was lovely.
I was relieved.
I prepared Brussels sprouts that my mother likes.
R doesn't like Brussels sprouts,
 but he was quite happy to eat them.

Rがストロベリーのデザートを用意しました。
Rが用意した一品、孔雀の羽のように見えるのは紫にんじんです。
母は色とりどりのにんじんを初めて食べ、
美味しいと喜んでいました。
母の歯は全て自前、誰よりも健康な歯の持ち主です。

R prepared a strawberry dessert.

Purple carrots look like peacock feathers, a dish prepared by R.

My mother ate colouful carrots these for the first time and

she said they were delicious and she was delighted.

My mother's teeth are all her own, she has the healthiest teeth.

6) この日に / On This Day

詰め合わせ
仙台の友人Hさんから大好きなかまぼこが届きました。
母もこれが好きです。
通常のかまぼこは結構長持ちしますが、
このかまぼこは新鮮で、日持ちがしません。
クリスマス料理が終わるであろう27日に
到着するようにお願いしていました。
Rはかまぼこ嫌いなのですが、今回チーズ入りかまぼこを
食べられました。
少しづつ食べられる食べ物が増えてゆくのは素敵なことです。
Hさん、ありがとうございました！

My favourite Kamaboko : boiled fish paste arrived 

from our friend H in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture.

My mother also likes these.

Normal Kamaboko lasts a long time, 

but these Kamaboko are fresh and do not last long.

I asked H if she could send these to arrive on the 27th, 

when Christmas food would end.

R doesn't like Kamaboko, but this time he ate 

'Cheese Kamaboko'.

It's lovely that his possible foods increase little by little.
