A. ドラゴンの空 / Dragon Sky 

ドラゴンの空
5月5日の朝、窓を開けると、
「あっ！ドラゴン!」
と思わせる雲が漂っていました。

Dragon Sky 
When I opened the window on the morning, 5th of May,
 there was a cloud that made me think "Oh! Dragon!".

ラッキーとパワー
日本では、5月5日は、'こどもの日' です。
直接は、私と夫Rには関係ありません。
ですが、5並びの日は、パワーがある日と思っています。
そして、このドラゴンの雲！
ラッキーさとパワーを感じるとても良い気分の朝でした。

Lucky and Powerful

In Japan, 5th of May is 'Children's Day'.

It has nothing to do with me and my husband R directly.

However, I think this day has strong power, in which the numbers 5 line up.

And look at this dragon cloud!

For me, it was a very good morning to feel lucky and powerful.

B. ドラゴン神棚 / Dragon Home Shrine

5月5日のドラゴン神棚
飾っている花は、スイカズラ以外は、庭で摘んだものです。

The flowers that are displayed were picked in the garden,
except for Japanese Honeysuckle.

Rがこのようにセッティングし、私を喜ばせました。

Honeysuckle and My Porcelain Work

The porcelain work is one of 'Sea Series' and was shown in 

the 2017 my Exhibition : "Coonie's Exhibition --Water, 2017".

R set it up like this and pleased me.

おまけ/ Extra

紫花豆の煮物
友人のカモちゃんにいただいた紫花豆を
ようやく料理することができました。
小皿の柄は見えませんが、
これも海シリーズの１つで磁器作品です。

Boiled Runner Bean 

I was finally able to cook Runner Beans that 

my friend Kamo Chan gave me.

You can't see the pattern on the small plate, 

but this is also one of my 'Sea Series', porcelain works.

     Flower Drawing, Dragon Home Shrine

'花のドローイング' は毎日、何かしら変えています。

意識的な変化もありますし、切り花の寿命によるものもあります。

I change something every day, 'Flower Drawing'.

There are conscious changes, and some are due to the lifespan of cut flowers.

スイカズラに花びらと葉を加えました。
I added petals and a leaf to the honeysuckle.

B. リビングルーム / Living Room

一輪の花から花びらへ
飾っていた大輪の薔薇が散ってしまいました。
その花びらを一輪の花に見えるように、この器に浮かべました。
中心は黄色のパンジーです。

From a Single Flower to Petals

The large roses that I was decorating have fallen.

I let the petals float in this vessel so that 

they look like a single flower.

The centre is a yellow pansy.

赤い薔薇

昨年は、1、２輪しか咲かなかった赤い薔薇が
今年は複数咲いてくれました。
まだまだ、元気に咲き誇るほどのは至りませんが、
昨年よりは良い状態になっています。
感謝！

Red Rose

Last year, only one or two red roses bloomed,

but this year a few red roses have bloomed.

It hasn't reached the point where it is in full bloom, 

but it is in better condition than last year.

A. たんぽぽの綿毛 / Dandelion Fluff

たんぽぽの綿毛
庭のたんぽぽのいくつかは抜かないので、綿毛になります。

幼い頃に、たんぽぽの綿毛が耳に入ると、

聞こえなくなると言われていました。

今ではそれは迷信であると分かっていますが、

何となく綿毛は避けてしまします。

こんなに美しく、面白い形なのに....。

英国にはそんな迷信はないので、

Rがこの形を私に見せに来ました。

Dandelion Fluff

Some of the dandelions in the garden were not pulled out, 

so they become fluffy.

When I was a child, it was said that 

when dandelion fluff got into our ears, we couldn't hear.

Now I know it's a superstition, but somehow I avoid fluff.

Even though it has such a beautiful and interesting shape ....

There is no such superstition in Britain, 

so R came to show me this shape.

B. 水槽の中の薔薇 / Rose in Aquarium

水槽の中の薔薇
花器というよりも水槽に思えます。

It seems more like an aquarium than a vase.

C. テーブル兼デスク / Table as well as Desk

スイカズラの花
散ってしまったスイカズラの花を集めて
ショットグラスに飾っています。
お散歩カートに乗っている幼児たちを彷彿します。

Honeysuckle Flowers 
The scattered honeysuckle flowers are collected and
displayed in a shot glass.
It is reminiscent of the toddlers in a Walking Cart.

     Banana Bread Cake

バナナ・ブレッド・ケーキ
久しぶりにバナナ・ブレッド・ケーキを焼きました。
ケーキ型に合わせたクック・ペーパーは、
いつもRが作っています。

 Banana Bread Cake
I baked a banana bread cake for the first time in a long time.
R always makes the cooking paper to match the cake tin.

アップルバターを添えて
アップルバターも作ってありました。
これだけでも良いのですが、冷めるとちょっと硬めになります。
なので、アップルバターを添えて食べます。

Served with Apple Butter

I had also made apple butter.

This is fine on its own, but when it cools it becomes a little harder.

So we ate it with the apple butter.

1) "朽ちゆく美" / "Decay Beauty"

オブジェの磁器作品の発想が、'破壊と再生' でした。

欠片(カケラ)から1つの作品を作り上げてゆくというアイディアを持ったのです。

完璧であろうとする、左右対象であろうとする、永遠に美を形を保とうとするという思想を逆に近いアイディアです。

花のドローイングも日々変化し、変化もさせます。

花は、もうこれ以上飾るのは辛いほど枯れると処分します。

そうしたことを繰り返す中で、時として"朽ち行く美"を見つけます。

"Decay Beauty"

The idea of my porcelain objects came from 'Destruction and Regeneration'.

I had the idea of creating a work from pieces.

My idea is almost the opposite of the idea of trying to be perfect, being symmetrical, and trying to keep beauty in shape forever.

I change my flower drawings every day, and the flowers also change.

The flowers are kept until I cannot decorate with them anymore and then I dispose.

While I do these acts, I sometimes find "Decay Beauty".

2) 並んで / Line Up

キッチンの窓辺
手を繋いで、並んでいるように感じます。

I feel they hold hands and are lined up.

3) 位置を変えて/ Change Position

いつもの撮影場所から位置を変えて撮影しました。

なので、一緒に撮影する作品も変わっています。

I changed the photographing position from the usual location and photographed.

So, the work I photographed with has changed.

Rのフルーツサラダ
ずっと夫Rが欲しがっていた台湾産の
パイナップルを手に入れました。
彼は私の磁器作品 (2012) を使用し、
パイナップルを飾っています。
磁器作品の本体は九谷の磁器土を使用し 、
それに英国の磁器土でペイントしています。

R's  Fruit Salad

We got a Taiwanese pineapple that my husband R had long wanted.

He uses my porcelain work (2012) to display the pineapple.

The porcelain base uses Kutani porcelain and

 is painted with British porcelain.

磁器作品 (2012) は、2012年の個展： "クーニーの冒険魂"に展示しました。

The porcelain work (2012) was exhibited in my Exhibition: "Coonie's Spirit of Adventure", 2012.

パイナップルのフルーツサラダの写真が続くのでどれかを削除しようと悩んでいました。

Rが

「どれも削除したくない」

というので、しつこいかもしれませんが３枚とも載せました。

I considered about deleting one of the photographs because there are three  photographs of the pineapple Fruit Salad.

R said

"I don't want to delete anything"

So, I show all three, although I feel it may be a little persistent.

5) ドラゴン・パワー / Dragon Power

ドラゴン神棚
額入ドラゴンの作品をドラゴン神棚に移しました。
額入のドラゴンの作品は
2002年個展・Coonie's Dragon, part1 で作った
記念のワイン (下の画像) のレリーフの原画です。

ドラゴン・パワー
ドラゴンの作品は元々ドラゴン・コーナーにあったので、
元の場所に移したと言ったいったほうが正確かもしれません。
ただ、以前は、ドラゴン・コーナーと呼んでいて
ドラゴン神棚とは呼んでいませんでした。
この場所の花のドローイングで使用した花は、他の場所の花よりも
日持ちがします。
環境のためなのか、ドラゴン・パワーなのか？
私はドラドン・パワーだと信じます！

Dragon Power
Since the framed dragon was originally in the dragon corner, it might be more accurate to say that it was moved back to its original location.

However, before, here was called the Dragon Corner, not Dragon Home Shrine.

The flowers used in the flower drawings in this place last longer than 

the flowers in other places.

Is it because of the environment or is it Dragon Power?

I believe in Dradon Power!

モミジバ・ゼラニウム
現在、我が家には、 "モミジバ・ゼラニウム"の鉢は3つあります。
これは最も花を咲かせて元気です。

Maple Leaf Geranium

Currently, there are three "Maple Leaf Geranium"

 in pots in our garden.

This one is the most flowering and energetic.

蚊はゼラニウムを嫌うので、フランスでは窓辺にゼラニウムの鉢を並べると、フランス人のゲストから聞きました。

モミジバ・ゼラニウムもその効果があるのでしょうか？

 I heard from a French guest that mosquitoes don't like geraniums, so in France, geranium pots are lined up by windows.

Does Maple Leaf Geranium also have that effect?

2) お気に入り / Favourite

ミニ薔薇

このミニ薔薇 (バラ) は、4年ほど前に、
友人からプレゼントされました。
2、3度死にかけ、今は、こんなに元気素敵に咲いてくれて
とてもとても嬉しい！

Miniature Rose

This Miniature Rose was given 

by my friend about four years ago.

It seemed to have died a couple of times and

 now it's blooming so well and nicely.

I am very very happy!

写真のようにたくさん花が咲いていても、香りはしません。

一般的にミニ薔薇は、香りがしないのです。

木立性なので、鉢に適しているように思います。

Rが庭の中で、最も愛している植物なのではないかと感じます。

あっ！最も愛しているのはブルーベリーかもしれません。

昨年は、彼は初めて日本の夏を経験し、ブルーベリーの実を巡ってリスと戦いました。

彼もまた、花より団子なのです。

Favourite

Even if many flowers are in bloom as shown in the photograph, they do not smell.

Generally, Miniature Roses do not smell.

I think it is an upright so is suitable for pots.

I feel that this is R's most beloved plant in the garden.

Ah! Blueberries may be his most favourite.

Last year he experienced Japan's summer for the first time and fought squirrels over blueberry fruits.

He is also Hana Yori Dango.

According to Wiki about Ohanami ;  花より団子, Hana Yori Dango,

"The teasing proverb dumplings rather than flowers (花より団子, hana yori dango) hints at the real priorities for most cherry blossom viewers, meaning that people are more interested in the food and drinks accompanying a hanami party than actually viewing the flowers themselves."

According to ICHACHA.NET WEB DICTIONARY about Hana Yori Dango,

"花より団子

はなよりだんご

dumplings rather than flowers

people are more interested in the practical over the aesthetic

The proverb ' hana yori dango ' (dumplings are preferable to flowers ) has its origins in the eating of dango at hanami parties and makes fun of people ' s tendency to choose a more tangible substance such as dango over the abstract act of viewing flowers ."

2代目ミモザ
順調に大きくなっています。
ミモザも、カクテルのミモザも好きです。

The Second Mimosa 

It grows steadily.

I like Mimosas and Mimosas Cocktail as well.

ミモザ・カクテル
'ミモザ・カクテル' は、パリのリッツ・ホテルで
誕生したカクテルです。
シャンパンとオレンジジュースが半々。
名前の由来はミモザの花の色からです。

Mimosa Cocktail

Mimosa Cocktail was born in the Ritz Hotel, Paris.

champagne and orange juice are half.

The name came from the colour of the Mimosa flower.

'ミモザ・カクテル' によく似た 'バックス・フィズ' と言うカクテルもあります。

こちらはロンドンの 'バックス・クラブ /  'Buck's Club'' (★) と言う

バーで生まれました。

レシピは、ミモザ・カクテルと同じです。

ただ、'バックス・フィズ' はタンブラーグラスに氷を入れて作り、

ミモザ・カクテルは氷なしのシャンパン・グラス (シャンパン・フルート) で作られます。

もう1つ、バックス・フィズのオリジナルのレシピには、'バックス・クラブ' のバーテンダーだけが知る秘密の何かが入っていると言われています。

なんとなく、ミステリアス好きな英国らしい話に感じます。

"「タンブラー」の語源は『倒れるもの、転ぶもの』。

その理由は、もともとはこの言葉が獣の角で作られた器などを指していたからである。"

Paris and London

There is also a cocktail called 'Bucks Fizz' very similar to 'Mimosa Cocktail'.

This was born in a bar, 'Buck's Club' in London.

'Buck's Club' recipe is the same as 'Mimosa Cocktail'.

However, 'Bucks Fizz' is made with ice into the tumbler glass, and the Mimosa Cocktail is made in a tall champagne flute with no ice.

Just one thing, the original 'Buck's Club' recipe is said to have a secret something known only to 'Buck's Club' bartenders.

Somehow, I feel the story (topic) is like mystery favourite British

According to Japanese Wiki about tumbler glass,

"The word source of 'Tumbler' is 'defeating, what rolls'.

The reason is that this is originally because this word refers to a container made of a beast horn. "

4) 歌うスミレ / Singing Violet

歌うスミレ
苗を植えてず〜っと沈黙(?)を続けていたスミレ (菫) が
ようやく歌い出しました。

Violet, which had been silent (?)
since the seedlings were planted, finally started singing.

'歌うスミレ'と写真のタイトルをつけました。

宝塚歌劇団の"すみれの花咲く頃"の歌を思い出しました。

私は、宝塚大劇場で2度、東京宝塚劇場で1度、宝塚歌劇団の歌劇を見たことがあります。

見る前はあまり期待をしていませんでしたが、1度見た時に、宝塚の世界が夢の世界で、世俗を忘れさせてくれる素敵な空間であることを知りました。

ですが、もう、何年も足を運んでいません。

Singing Violet

I gave the photograph title "Singing Violet".

I remembered the song "When the violet flowers bloom" by the Takarazuka Revue.

According to Wiki about Takarazuka Revue,

"The Takarazuka Revue is a Japanese all-female musical theater troupe based in Takarazuka, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. "

I have seen  musicals of the Takarazuka Revue twice at the Takarazuka Grand Theatre and once at the Tokyo Takarazuka Theater.

I didn't expect much before I saw it, but when I saw it once, I realized that the world of Takarazuka is a dream world and a wonderful space that makes me forget the world.

But I haven't been there for years.

5) 地植えの植物 / Ground-planted Plants

A. 蕾 /  Buds

紫陽花に蕾が！
我が家には紫陽花が3つあります。
裏庭の紫陽花は最も大きく、私達が住み始める前からありました。
表庭の2つは、私達が植えました。
どちらもまだまだ小さく、育ってくれるのか
おぼつかない状況です。
この紫陽花は白い花をつけます。
紫陽花は土によって色が変わりますが、
少なくとも昨年は白でした。
蕾がついて、嬉しい！

Hydrangea Has Buds!

There are three Hydrangea in our garden.

The back garden Hydrangea is the largest and

 it was here before we moved in.

We planted the two in the main garden.

Both are still small and grow uncertainly.

This hydrangea has white flowers.

Hydrangea changes colours depending on the soil,

 but at least last year this was white.

This has buds! and I am happy.

B. 誰ですか？ / Who are You?

ジャイアント・ホスタ
英国から本帰国後、初めて住んだ家の庭は日陰の庭でした。
日陰でも育つ植物としてこのホスタを選び、
鎌倉の花屋さんで買いました。
引越し後の現在の庭では、
季節が終わると地表から姿を消してしまい、心配します。
ですが、次の季節にはこうしてまた姿を見せ、
安心させてくれます。

Giant Hosta

After returning to Japan from Britain, 

the garden of our first house was a shaded garden.

I chose this hosta as a plant that grows in the shade and 

bought it at a flower shop in Kamakura.

 After moving here, I am always worried that this will disappear

after its season.

But in the next spring, it shows up again and reassures me.

我が家のジャイアント・ホスタは、ジャイアントホスタの中では、

小さい方かもしれません。

お店で売られている時に、'ジャイアント・ホスタ'の名札があったので、今でも'ジャイアント・ホスタ'と信じていますが、ネットで他の'ジャイアント・ホスタ'を見ると違うのかな？と疑問を持ちます。

Who are You?

Our 'Giant Hosta' may be the smaller of the  general 'Giant Hosta'.

When it was sold at a shop there was a name tag of 'Giant Hosta', so I still believe this as 'Giant Hosta', but when I see other 'Giant Hosta' on the internet, I have a question "Is this different from 'Giant Hosta'?".

6) クローバー / Clover

A. 雑草 / Weed

クスダマツメクサ (薬玉詰草) は、クローバーの1つと知り、今年、

購入しました。

クローバーなら強くて、あまり手をかけずに育ってくれると期待したからです。

そして元気を与えてくれる黄色い花も魅力の1つです。

Wikiでは、'雑草'であると定義されています。

雑草を買う、私、でも良いのです、山野草は好きですから。

英語では、'Trifolium Campestre'で、Campestre の意味は、'野原の'(of the fields)です。

可愛らしい花です。

They are pretty flowers.

Weed

I knew that Kusudama Matsumekusa : Trifolium Campestre was one of the clovers and bought it this year.

I expected Clover to be strong and grow up without much effort.

And one of the charms is the yellow flowers that give me energy.

The Japanese Wiki defines it as one of t'weeds'.

I bought weeds, and I like wild grasses.

According to Wiki about Trifolium Campestre,

"Trifolium campestre, commonly known as hop trefoil, field clover and low hop clover, is a species of clover native to Europe and western Asia, growing in dry, sandy grassland habitats, fields, woodland margins, roadsides, wastelands and cultivated land. 

The species name campestre means "of the fields".

クスダマツメクサ : 薬玉詰草
雑草ですが、その名前には日本の歴史が含まれています。

 Trifolium Campestre : Kusudama Matsumekusa
Although it is a weed, its name includes Japanese history.

B. くす玉 / Kusudama

クスダマツメクサ(薬玉詰草) の名前は、薬玉 (クスダマ) に由来します。

'くす玉' というと、私はお祝いの時に紐を引くと割れて、ストンとリボンが落ち、色とりどりの紙吹雪が舞う、あの玉を思い浮かべます。

元々は、'薬草、香草、香料を錦の袋に詰めて、その袋に造花などで飾り付けし、五色の糸でたらした入れ物で、延命長寿、無病息災の願いが込められて'(Wiki)いたそうです。

Kusudama

The Japanese name of Kusudama Tsumekusa is derived from Kusudama which is a paper model that is usually (although not always) created by sewing multiple identical pyramidal units.

When I think of 'Kusudama', I think of that ball which breaks when you pull the string at the time of celebration, ribbons fall and colorful confetti dances.

It is said that originally, medicinal herbs, herbs, and flavours are packed in a brocade bag with five colours threads and artificial flowers which contains wishes for longevity and no illness.

百索縷軸
正倉院所蔵

"端午の節句に魔よけなどのために身に着けて用いたとされる

大きな糸巻「百索縷軸 (ヒャクサクノジク)」

が正倉院 (★)に所蔵されている。

このような百索（長命縷または続命縷ともいう）が

後世になってショウブやヨモギなどを飾った華やかなものに

変化しそれが薬玉となった"

 Tōdai-ji Temple in Nara, Japan.

According to Japanese Wiki about Kusudama,

"The large pincushion 'Hyakusakunojiku : Roller for hyakusakuru thread' , 

which is said to have been worn and used as a talisman 

for 'Tango no Sekku', is in the Shōsōin (★).

Such a Roller changed into gorgeous ones decorated 

with Irises and Sweet Flag in posterity, 

and it became a Kusudama. "

According to Wiki about 'Tango no Sekku',

"Tango no Sekku (端午の節句), also known as Ayame no hi (Iris festival), is one of the five annual ceremonies that were traditionally held at the Japanese imperial court called Gosekku."

Recently, Tango no Sekku is known as Boys' Day : Children's Day .

According to Wiki about Children's Day,

"Children's Day (こどもの日, Kodomo no Hi) is a Japanese national holiday which takes place annually on May 5 and is the final celebration in Golden Week.

 It is a day set aside to respect children's personalities and to celebrate their happiness."
