お城 / Castle : ⑦

ここを訪れてから知りましたが、このお城のキャッチコピーは、

"The Loveliest Castle in the World" / 世界で一番美しい城 

なのです。

確かに素敵ですが、'一番?'、まあ、キャッチコピーにありがちといえばありがちですが、有名な方が表現されたので使用されているのでしょう。

もしかして、その方は現クイーンですか？？？


After I visited, I knew their catch phrase:
"The Loveliest Castle in the World"

It is sure the castle is lovely, although is it the loveliest in the World???

Well, it is common in catch phrases, indeed, I think somebody famous said that.

Was the person the present Queen, maybe~~???

一般入り口は地図の①からお城に向かいますが、
宿泊客であった私達は、ガーデン側から向かいました。
この写真はその時撮影したものです。
入場料が大人一人21ポンド。
こどもは無料。
(多くの場所でこどもは、無料)
宿泊は一部屋朝食付き (B&B: Bed and Breakfast ) が
90ポンドからの設定です。
いろいろな特典もあるし、２人で出かけるなら宿泊がお勧め。
因に私達は２人で一晩、90ポンドの部屋でした(下記参照)。

Normally people go to the castle from the public entrance : Map①.
The guests, including us, go in from the garden side.
I took this photograph at that time.
Entry fee, 21Pounds per person,
accommodation price, from 90 Pounds per room per night 
with some privileges.
I think if you stay (B&B) there with somebody, 
it should be better than just day visiting.
By the way we stayed in one of the cheapest rooms.(See below)

日本語のオーディオガイドを、
お城の前のショップで３ポンドで貸し出しています。
日本人の観光客が多いのですね〜。
ガイドツアーに従って歩くと、入り口はこの先です。

There is an audio guide for 3 Pounds at their shop
which is in the front of the castle.
If you walk according to the guide,
the entrance will be this way.

優雅な'パント ボート'/ Punt

私達は乗りませんでしたが、

一人5ポンドで乗れます。

Although we didn't take it, 

you could go for 5 Pounds each.

13世紀に、エドワード１世によって、建てられました。

人工の丘にレン川から水をひいて、２つの島をつくり、

そのうえに成り立っています。

昔は、しばしば数百人の人が、時には数千人の人が滞在しました。

なので、その食材も莫大な量が運ばれ消費されました。

1520年にヘンリー8世 (1491-1547) がフランスに

フランソワ1世との会合: '金襴の陣 / 錦野の会見'のために

ここに滞在した時は、下記の材料が消費されました。

羊/ sheep: 2,000    　　          魚 / fish: 1,600   

ネズミイルカ(または豚という意味か？) / porpoises (pork) : 3

子牛 / calves           鶏 / chickens   　　  イルカ/ dolphin : 1

サギ / heron :312   　　          鹿 / deer : 17   

白鳥/ swan : 13　　　　       鰻 / eels : 700

グレープ、ホップを栽培し、ワイン、ビールを作っていました。

ドメスディブック／'Domesday Book'

 (ウィリアム１世が施行した検地の世界初の土地台帳)

に、敷地内にぶどう畑があると記されています。

そして今でも、その畑のぶどうでワインが製造されています。

食材の多さは、ハンプトンコートのチューダーキッチン
を思い出しました。

The huge amount of food reminds me of  the Tudor Kitchen in Hampton Court.

It is a slightly scary, isn't it?

お城の中で一番古いと言われる部分はワイン倉庫です。
ワインが古くから愛されているのか？
昔からの設備に進歩がないのか、
進歩が必要ないのか？
そして、私の心にここが一番残っている....
単なる酒飲みの記憶でしょうか？（笑）

They say here is the oldest part in the castle.
It was used as a wine store.
It means people have loved wine for a long time? or
the equipment of the wine does not improve? or
it does not need improving?

And also I remember strongly here....
It may show the memory of a drinker? (laugh)

I forgot who he is. 

会議室(と呼ぶのでしょうか？)
世界的重要な会議が行われた部屋でしたが、
その会議は忘れました。
G8 サミット：主要国首脳会議かも？

An important meeting of the world was here,
although I forgot which the meeting.
Maybe it was a G8 summit.

レディ•ベイリーの靴(と思う)
窮屈そうな靴のなかで、足指をしめつけない草履が
レディが好きであったように思いたいです。

Shoes of Lady Baillie (I think)
I hope the lady liked a pair of  Zouri : open-toed sandals,
 in her collection, which is at the bottom of the shelves, 
they are not tight like the other heeled shoes.

ステファン•ボウディン/ Stéphane Boudin (1888 - 1967)

によってデザインされました。

彼の顧客には、ジャクリーン•ケネディ(1929 - 1994)や、

王に王冠よりも彼女との結婚を選ばせたという、

ウォリス•シンプソン/ The Duchess of Windsor (1896 - 1986)

などがいます。

The Lady's Bedroom

It was designed by Stéphane Boudin (1888 - 1967).

His other clients included 

The Duchess of Windsor : Wallis Simpson (1896 - 1986)

who King Edward Ⅷ (1894 - 1972) selected to marry
rather than retain the crown.

レディは鳥の愛好家
至る所に、鳥の調度品や絵が飾ってあります。
彼女は鳥のための庭：飼鳥園も保っていました。
現在そこは、'Lady Ballie Garden'になっています。

The Lady was a Bird Fancier
There are many furnishings and pictures of birds in the castle. 
She had her own aviary which is now the 'Lady Ballie Garden'. 

写真撮影はしていませんが、ドローイングルームでピアノの生演奏もしていました。

In a drawing-room, there was a live piano performance, 
although I did not take a photograph.

このお城では結婚式も行われています。
そのとき、ここはドリンキングレセプションとして使用されます。

Library 
They can hold weddings here.
 This library is used for reception drinks. 

ダイニングルーム
この部屋は、結婚式のセレモニーに使用されます。
この部屋もステファン•ボウディン/ Stéphane Boudin (1888 - 1967)

によってデザインされました。

Dining Room
This room is used for wedding ceremonies.
This was designed by Stéphane Boudin (1888 - 1967), too.

It runs from a public entrance and the front of the Castle.
