Moving : Misasa Onsen → Tottori Sand Dunes

鳥取砂丘も、このツアーでとても楽しみしていました。

ここは、1995年に天然記念物に指定されています。

Rは今回の旅でここが一番印象に残っているそうです。

'デューン'という音の響きで思い出したのが映画、"デューン砂の惑星"(1984)、そのことについては、あとのセクションで書いています。

I was really looking forwards to this sight  : Tottori Sand Dunes in this tour.

In 1995, the dunes became a protected Natural Monument in Japan.

Of all the sights, the dunes made the strongest impression on R, (who was not looking forward to this sight)!

The sound of 'Dunes' reminds me of a film "Dune" (1984), later I wrote about it below.

ラクダに大人２人は乗れません。大人は一人づつ。
大人とこどもはOKです。
とても短い時間なのに、すごく値段が高い！
よって、私は他人が乗っているのを撮影しました。

Two Adults cannot ride a camel. Adult and a child is OK.
It was extremely expensive for such a short time.
Therefore I photographed other people.

バスガイドさんが薦めてくれた、梨のアイスクリームが美味しかったです。

R はアイスクリームが嫌いなのに、このアイスクリームは美味しいといって、気に入っていました。

もしかしたら、これが彼がここが一番印象に残っている理由かな？

Our tour guide suggested we try their pear ice-cream and then we did.

It was very good!

Even R  who does not like ice-cream found it delicious.

Maybe this is the reason for his strong impression about here? 

❿山陰旅行 - 三朝温泉 / Sanin Trip - Misasa Onsen : Misasa Hot Springs 2nd - 3rd of April, 2014

1)車窓から / From Coach

お菓子の城, 壽城 :★
コトブキ製菓と私は記憶していましたが、その他にも系列会社があるらしく、
現在は'壽スプリッツ'の傘下にコトブキ製菓もこのお城も、
そして.....チーズケーキの小樽のルタオ：Le TAO : ★もあります。
Le TAOがコトブキだったなんて、ちょっと驚きました！

Sweet Castle, Kotobuki Castle :★
I remember this company as Kotobuki Seika : a popular sweet company in Japan, although now they have other products.
They call themselves "Kotobuki Spirits" which owns Kotobuki Seika, 
Kotobuki Castle and Le TAO in Otaru, Hokkaido.
I was a little surprised that Le TAO is managed by Kotobuki.

風車
英国ではしばしばこの形の風車を見ましたが、日本にもあるのですね。

Windmill
Sometimes I saw this type of windmill in Britain, now I know Japan has them.

2)宿泊地は三朝温泉 / Stay in Misasa Onsen

三朝温泉に泊まりました。ここは、放射能泉 (ホウシャノウセン)といいます。

HP : ★では下記の説明がありますが、効能としては賛否両論あるようです。

"三朝温泉のお湯は、世界有数のラドン含有量を誇ります。

ラドンとはラジウムが分解されて生じる弱い放射線のこと。

ラドンが呼吸で体内に入ると、新陳代謝が活発になり、免疫力や自然治癒力を高める効果があります。

これを｢放射線のホルシミス効果｣といい、観光はもちろん、療養目的の湯治として多くの人々に親しまれています。"

基本的に、放射線被爆するのですよね....今は、この温泉としては時期が悪いのかもしれません。

玉造温泉と比べると、町(?)全体が元気がないような気がしました。

下記はウィキペディア有馬温泉の抜粋です。

"泉質は湧出場所により異なり、塩分と鉄分を多く含み褐色を呈する含鉄塩化物泉、ラジウムを多く含む放射能泉、炭酸を多く含む炭酸水素塩泉の3種類がある。"

有名な有馬温泉もの一部も放射能泉なので、まあ、身体に悪いことはないのでしょう。

Stay in Misasa Onsen

We stayed in Misasa Onsen : Misasa Hot Springs : ★.

They have radioactive springs.

There seem to be arguments about the effects of radium hot springs.

They say (their HP: ★)

"Misasa Onsen is one of the world’s famous radioactive hot springs containing a high radon concentration.

Radon is a weak radioactive substance produced by the decay of radium.

Low doses of radon exposure improve the metabolism and boost the body’s immunity and natural healing power.

These are the special “hormesis” effects."

Basically people have radiation exposure, don't they?

Well, now it is not good timing for them.

I felt the town looked dispirited compared with Tamazukuri Onsen: Tamazukuri Hot Springs.

According to Wikipedia Arima Onsen,

"Arima Onsen has two kinds of springs. One is kinsen (金泉?, "gold spring"), which has water colored yellow-brown from iron and salt. 

The other is ginsen (銀泉?, "silver spring"), which is colorless and contains radium and carbonate."

Arima Onsen is one of the famous hot springs in Japan, some of their hot springs are radioactivg, so....well...maybe it is not so bad for the body.

お散歩に出かけて、酒屋さんで買いました。
"大山Gビールの人気限定ビール、「八郷」"
とHPにありました。


少々ビターで、エールに似ている味で、
エビスビールが好きな私には良かったです。
Rは特に気に入ってました。
ちなみに八郷と書いて'ヤゴウ'と読みます。

Local Beer
When we walked around there, 
we popped into an off-license and then we bought beer.
The company said
"Daisen G Beer's Popular Limited Beer 「八郷/ Yago」"

I felt the taste was a little bitter and similar to Ale,
I love Ebisu Beer, so I like it. R quite liked it.

三徳川 (ミトクガワ）/ Mitoku River

川の中にある温泉

あのお寺のようなものは何かな〜？と思いつつ、
結局わかりませんでした。(南苑寺らしい...)

I wonder what that is, looking like a temple.
Still I do not know. ( It might be Nazen-ji: Nazen Temple)

鴨のこのポースは昔から好きです。
I have liked this pose of ducks for a long time.

❾山陰旅行 - 水木しげるロードの後 / Sanin Trip - After Mizuki Shigeru Road - 2nd of April, 2014

1) 駐車場で/ In Car Park

駐車場のトイレに'塗り壁'と'一反木綿'
集合時間ぎりぎりにバスへ戻りました。

We came back to our coach, it was very close to leaving time.

2) 境港で / At Sakaiko : Port of Sakai

境港 
市の名前は境港市 (サカイミナトシ) ですが、港は、
境港 : "サカイコウ"なんですね。
サカイと聞くと大阪府の堺市を思い浮かべてしまいますが、
あそこの港は"堺泉北港 (サカイセンボクコウ）"。

If I hear 'Sakai', at once I could think about Sakai City (★) in Osaka Prefecture,
their port is Port of Sakaisanboku.

水産庁の白嶺丸(ハクレイマル)
きれいな船です。

"本船は、水産庁に所属する漁業取締船で、我が国周辺水域等において、
違法な操業及び漁具の設置を行う外国漁船等の指導・取締を行うことを
目的としています。"

境港でちょっとまじめな気分に...
ここは...重要湾港のひとつなのだそうです、なるほど〜。

"This ship is intended to supervise fishing in and around Japanese waters by Japanese and foreign fishing boats to prevent illegal fishing."

Now I can feel Sakaiko : Port of Sakai, actually has a serious side.
This is one of the major ports in Japan, Indeed.

3) 二つの大橋  / Two Big Bridges

A. 境水道大橋 / Sakaisuido Ohashi : Sakaisuido Big Bridge

境水道大橋は、バスの中から見えた美しい橋です。

Rから

「写真に撮ってくれ！」

という要望に答えて下の写真を撮りました。

Rは日本の構造物、橋やビルや家が好きです。

We saw a beautiful Sakaisuido Ohashi: Sakaisuido Big Bridge from our coach.

R requested me 'Please photograph that bridge for me'.

Then I did.

He likes Japanese buildings, bridges and houses.

のほほ〜んとした風景で好きです。
It is a carefree view, I like.

実際のツアーの目的は、この橋でなく、江島大橋でした。

Actually our tour's purpose was not this bridge, it was 'Eshima-Ohashi: Eshima Big Bridge'.

2) 江島大橋 / Eshima-Ohashi : Eshima Big Bridge

江島大橋は、ダイハツのCMで有名になった「ベタ踏み坂」だそうですが、私はTVを持っていないので、全く知りませんでした。

そのCMもネットで、今見ました。CM→★

「島根県松江市」と「鳥取県境港市」を結ぶ全長1.4ｋｍ、高さ約44ｍの大きな橋です。

中央に位置する二本の橋脚の間隔が250mあり、PCラーメン橋 (ラーメンは『骨組み』を意味するドイツ語のRahmenに由来するもの)としては、長さが東洋一、
世界でも三番目だそうです。

ツアーバスは、私達にその橋を見せるべく、体験させるべく、江島大橋を渡ってくれました。

橋を渡る手前も渡っているときも写真撮影を試みましたが、シャッターチャンスに恵まれず、写真はとれませんでした。

実は、この橋の体験よりも、バスガイドさんの'昔の橋の話'のほうが私には印象が残っています。

昔の橋は満員バスの重量に耐えることができませんでした(14t以上の大型車は通行付不可)。

何人かのお客さんにガイドさんと一緒にバスを降りて橋を渡ってもらわなくてはならず、ガイドさんがお客さんにお願いしたところ、全員がバスをおりて渡ったという話でした。

何か、とても日本人らしさを感じる話でした。

ちなみに江島大橋は2004年10月に開通しています。

Eshima- Ohashi / Eshima Big Bridge

A Daihatsu commercial used this bridge : Eshima Ohashi: ★, then it became famous in Japan, however, I do not have TV, so I did not know of the bridge or the view.

I just watched the advert by Internet now. CM→★

The bridge joins 'Sakaiminato City, Tottori Prefecture' and 'Eshima, Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture', and is 1.4km long and approximately 44m in height.

The span between the two towers is 250m, this is the longest Rigid frame bridge in the East, the third longest in the world.

Our coach went out of its way to give us the experience of the special crossing of the bridge.

I tried to take photo of this when the coach was before crossing  and being on it, although I could not get a good chance, so I do not have any photograph of the bridge.

In fact, I still have my strongest impression from the bus tour guide's talk, rather than our actual crossing of the bridge.

The tour guide also told us that an old bridge could not stand a coach full of tourists 
(it was impossible over 1.4t),  so the guide must ask the tourists,
"Would some of you get off our coach and walk across this bridge, anyone else with me?"
then everyone volunteered!

I feel this is very Japanese.

By the way, "Eshima Ohashi" was opened in October, 2004. 



3) お土産屋さん / Souvenir Shop

A.お買い物 / Shopping 

ここのお店では何も買わなかったのです...。

I did not buy anything from their shops......

B. 私自身へのお土産/ My Souvenir

お店では何も買わなかったのに、フィギュアデスペンサー（というのかわからないけれど？）で硬貨を入れるとフィギュアーが出てくる機械で、ゴムボールを買いました。

『ゲゲゲの鬼太郎』キャラクターのフィギュアで、私は「ねずみ男」を買いあて、喜んでいました。

そこへバスの運転手さんが通りかかり、

「男の子みたいだね〜」

と言われました。

ちょっと驚いたけれど、嬉しかったです！

My Souvenir

Even though I did not buy anything from their shops, I bought a rubber ball 
from a figure dispenser.

The figure dispenser has many "Ge ge ge no Kitaro" characters, so we do not know which one will get before we buy.

I got Nezumi Otoko! I was pretty glad!

Just then our coach driver came across and he said to me

"You are like a boy, aren't you!"

I was a little surprised, but pleased!

かわいい！でしょう？

大きさがわからないと思っておちょこにいれましたが、
(目玉親父がお風呂に入っているように？)
ますますわからない感じになり...

I thought you could not judge his size,
so I set him into Ochoko: Sake Cap,
you might be confused more and more....

鉛筆削りをとなりに置いてみました。
これで大きさがわかるでしょう？

I placed a pencil sharpener beside him.
Now you can see the size, can't you?

C.コナンもいる〜！/ Conan is here, too!

『名探偵コナン』の作者、青山 剛昌 (アオヤマ ゴウショウ) (1963 -) 氏は、鳥取県東伯郡大栄町(現在は北栄町)出身なのですね〜。

鳥取空港の名前がコナン空港いなるという噂もあるとか....

『Case Closed』(Detective Conan)'s author is Gousho Aoyama (1963 -) who came from Hokuei Town, Higashihaku-Gun Tottori Prefecture.

There is a rumour that 'Tottori Airport' will be renamed 'Conan Airport'.

❽山陰旅行 - 水木しげるロード / Sanin Trip - Mizuki Shigeru Road - 2nd of April, 2014

1) 水木しげるロード / Mizuki Shigeru Road

水木しげるロードは、境港市にあり、漫画家、水木しげる(1922 ~)作品の
『ゲゲゲの鬼太郎』のキャラクター、153 体のブロンズ像が並ぶ道です。Map→★

水木氏は境港市出身です。

このロードの存在はかなり前から知っていて、いつか行きたいと思っていました。

今回の出雲旅行のツアー日程に組み込まれていたのは、嬉しい驚きでした。

滞在時間が30分で、私にとっては短すぎ....、水木しげる記念館 : ★にも行けませんでした。

JR 境線 :　境港駅 (愛称: 鬼太郎駅) - 米子駅(愛称:ねずみ男駅) は、鬼太郎列車が走っています。

「運が良ければ見られるかも」というバスガイドさんの説明を聞き、見る事ができたら良いな〜と願いつつ、キャラクターを見つつ、撮影しつつ境港駅に向かいました。

Mizuki Shigeru Road

Mizuki Shigeru Road is in Sakaiminato City. 

Manga author, Shigeru Mizuki (1922 -) came from this city. 

The road has statues of characters from his work : "GeGeGe no Kitarō ". Map→★ in Japanese.

I knew of the road quite long time ago, I thought I would go one day.

However, when I knew this tour schedule included here, it was a nice surprise. 

The time here was 30 minutes, for me, it was too short.... I could not even visit Shigeru Mizuki Museum (★ in Japanese). 

JR Sakai Line is a railway line between Sakaiminato (Nick name : Kitaro Station ) and Yonago (Nezumi Otoko Station).

Our bus tour conductor said 
"If you are lucky, you could see 'Kitaro Train'", 
so while I walked towards Sakaiminato Station, I looked at the statues and photographed, I hoped I would see the train.

"134 yokai characters (Japanese web site says 153) were sterically casted into detailed bronze statues. 
Anyone can see and touch the statues. 
Each unit of the black granite base and the statue is highly appraised as a fine art.

地元にはこなき爺 の妖怪伝説は多種多様ながら存在しているようです。

This character was not completely created by Mizuki,
it seems to come from local Yōkai Legends, although there are various stories.

2)鬼太郎列車 / Kitaro Train

下記は境港市観光ガイドWeb Site：★

★鬼太郎列車について★ 

鬼太郎列車シリーズは平成２６年３月現在、
「鬼太郎」
「ねずみ男」
「ねこ娘」
「目玉おやじ」
「ファミリー（こなきじじい」
「ファミリー（砂かけばばあ）」
の６種類がＪＲ境線を走っています。 
どの列車がどの時間に走るのかは毎日変わります。 
お目当ての列車がある方はＪＲ米子支社営業課（Tel 0859-32-8056）までお問い合わせ下さい。　

ということなので、どれが見られるのか、私達にはわかりませんでした。

In March 2014, they have 6 types  of 'Kitaro Train': "Kitaro" , " Nezumi Otoko", "Neko-Musume", "Medama Oyaji", "Family; Konaki Jiji" and "Family; Sunakake Baba".

They change the sequence of the 6 train styles used every day.

If you want to get your favourite one, you could ask by calling them ; 0859-32-8056. 

Though we did not know which train came when we got the station, of course.
