1) BALLOWER TERRACE (バロワー テラス)
この日は、2017年の私の個展会場：ギャラリーを探すために東京へ行きました。

千駄ヶ谷から青山方面へ移動しつつ、ネットで見つけた候補のギャラリーを見て歩きました。

千駄ヶ谷では、友人の I さんと久しぶりに会いました。

I さんが買い物をする途中で、いつも気になっていたという、
"BALLOWER TERRACE (バロワー テラス)" 
でランチを一緒にとりました。

後で知りましたが、このレストランはチェーン店で、当時、西麻布や恵比寿にもあったようです。

ちなみにIさんは東京の中心地に住んでいます。

BALLOWER TERRACE
I went with R to Tokyo to find a gallery for my 2017 exhibition.

We came here while we were looking at some possible galleries which I had found by Internet, between Sendagaya and Aoyama.

In Sendagara, we met I San who we hadn't seen for a long time.

Sometimes, when shopping, I San passed this restaurant, "BALLOWER TERRACE", but not visited so she would go there with us for our lunch.

Later I knew the restaurant was one of a chain, I heard that at that time, they had restaurants in Nishi-Azabu and Ebisu, Tokyo.

By the way, I San lives in central Tokyo.

店内
店内はL字型で、かなり広いです。12時前に到着したので、まだ静か。

Inside
Inside was L-shaped and wide.Before 12:00, it was still quiet.

多量
サラダの量に驚きます。
これが一人前！日本では珍しいほどのボリューム。
しかし、Iさんも私も、
「食べられるわ！」
と、簡単に完食しました。
この時間帯のランチで赤ワインを飲むのは、
さすがに私達だけだったように思います(笑)。

Plenty of Salad
I was surprised by the quantity of salad.
This is one portion! 
It is an unusually large volume for Japan.
However, I San and I said
"I can manage!"
and we easily ate everything.
I think only we had a glass of red wine at that time of day (laugh).
野菜は新鮮に感じましたし、美味しく食べましたが、
コンセプトが先行するレストランで、食に対する愛情とか、
意気込みがあまり感じられませんでした。
でも、若年層には、"おしゃれなレストラン"として
人気があるのかもしれません。

I felt the vegetables were fresh and I enjoyed them, 
although I felt their concept exceeded 
their affection or enthusiasm for food.
However, there might be popular as a stylish restaurant for a younger generation.

このレストランは、Rの食の問題はクリアーできなかったので、
彼はフレンチトーストとカフェオレをランチにとりました。
悪いお店には感じませんでしたが、また来たいという思いも抱きませんでした。
このお店は、2017年6月現在、閉店してしまっていました。
チェーン店である、他の2店舗も閉店したとのこと。
なんとなく、閉店の理由がわかるような気がします。

This restaurant could not manage R's food requests,
so he had a french toast and cafe au lait as his lunch.
I did not feel a bad restaurant, but also I did not feel that I would visit again.
As of June, 2017, this is closed and the other two as well.
Somehow I feel I understand the reason for closing.

2) ダイアログ・イン・ザ・ダーク / Dialogue in the Dark

千駄ヶ谷周辺で、いくつかのギャラリーを見たあと、青山方面に移動。
その途中で、見た、
「おー！都会のビル！」
と思ったのが、"神宮前レーサムビル" (TERRAZZA青山)で、その地下には
"ダイアログ・イン・ザ・ダーク / Dialog in the Dark"
がありました。

We looked at some galleries around Sendagaya and moved towards Aoyama area.
I looked at a building and then I thought
"WoW!  This is an urban building!"

That is "Jingumae Raysum Building (TERRAZZA Aoyama)" and in the basement had "Dialog in the Dark".

"Dialogue in the Dark is an awareness raising exhibition and franchise, 
as well as a social business. 
In Dialogue in the Dark, blind guides lead visitors in small groups 
through different settings in absolute darkness. 
Through this visitors learn how to interact without sight 
by using their other senses, as well as experience what it is like to be blind. 
~~~The founder, Andreas Heinecke (1955 - ), 
has both Jewish and German ancestry.
There have been exhibitions in more than 150 cities in over 30 countries in America, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
 Meanwhile, there are now permanent exhibitions 
in Japan, Italy, Israel, Austria, the USA and Australia.

残念ながら、私達が訪ねた日は、
貸切で、"暗闇"の経験はできませんでした。

Unfortunately, when we visited there,
it was reserved, so we didn't have experience of the dark.

意外と古いビルなんですね。
