素敵な結婚式 - 2013年9月7日 / Lovely Wedding - 7th of September, 2013

初めて英国の結婚式に参加しました。

通常とおり、人々の名前は、文も画像もイニシャルのみにしています。

This was the first time I was a wedding guest in Britain.

As usual I obscure people's name in my writing and pictures. (Except me: coonie)

案内状一式 / Invitation Set

旅が結婚式のテーマ...
結婚式のお知らせ、招待状が英国から日本の家に届きました。
古き良き時代の旅をテーマにしていると思いました。
結婚は一つの門出、そう思うのは日本人だけでないのですね〜。
お知らせ類は、パスポートを模した冊子にまとめられ、
その他のものも旅に関係したデザインになっています。

The Theme of the Wedding is Travel...
They sent our wedding 'Invitation' from Britain to us in Japan.
I thought their theme was 'Travel in the good old days'.
A wedding is a departure.
That thought is not only Japanese, is it?
The information is in a booklet which is in the style of a passport and
other 'documents' relating to travel.

彼らが使用していたキャッチコピー(?) は、
トールキン (1892 - 1973) のものでした！
ファンタジー好きの私にとっては嬉しい発見！ですが、
原書で彼の作品もエッセイ(論文）も読んでいないので、
どこで使用されたものかはわかりません。
意味はおそらく、『漂う者にも道を見いだしている者はいる』
私もその一人であると信じたい....
マタイ書(7章8節)にも下記のようにあります。

"誰でも求めている者は受け、探している者は見いだし、
たたいている者には開かれるのだ。"
(私はクリスチャンではありませんよ〜）
彼らの実際の意図はわかりませんが、
私は若い彼らがこういう気持ちで式に臨んでいたのだと理解しています。

They use a phrase by J.R.R Tolkien (1892 - 1973)!
It was exciting for me who loves fantasy worlds,
even though I haven't read his original stories and essays in English,
so I do not know which story or essay they came from.
I hope I am one of those who wanders without being lost.
According to the 'Gospel of Matthew' ; Chapter 7, Paragraph 8,

"For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds.
To him who knocks it will be opened."
[For every one that asketh receiveth;
and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.]
(I am not a Christian~!)
Although I do not know their true thoughts,
perhaps I understand that the young couple approached their wedding
with these ideas.

びっくりしたのは、彼らの結婚式のオリジナルの冊子が
用意されていことです。
I was surprised by their original wedding booklet.

世界各地名がついたテーブルに個人名が記されています。
私のテーブルは'キューバ'でした。

Seating Arrangement
Each table has a place name from all over the world,
then there is each person's name.
My table was 'Cuba'.

青空が見える！
I can see blue sky!

和やかな家族席
花婿さんと、花嫁のお父さん、花婿の弟さんからスピーチがありました。
笑いあり、涙ありのスピーチでみんな上手でした。

Peaceful Family Table
There were speeches by the groom, his younger brother and the bride's father.
There were laughter and tears in the speeches, I felt they are good at speaking.

乾杯！
素敵なカップルでしょう。
特に花嫁さんはかわいくて、どんな表情も、たとえ大口をあけて笑っていても、
素敵なので、撮影していて癒されました。
あとで見た写真もやっぱり、どれも美しいのでした。

Cheers!
They are a lovely couple, aren't they.
Especially the bride is so pretty, even when she laughed so much,
still she was very lovely, so while I took photographs of her,
I was comfortable.
Later I looked at the photographs of her, all are beautiful.

There is a rubber duck with my name tag!

カップルの名前入りですが、この画面では消してあります。
ハートで囲んでみました。

It has the couple's names, although deleted here.
I placed these hearts.

♥️四葉のクローバーをテーブルに作ってみました。

四葉の葉は、それぞれ

'信仰 / faith'、 '希望 / hope'、'愛 / love'、'幸運 / luck'

だそうです。

I made a four-leaf clover on the table.

They say each leaf means: Faith / Hope / Love / Luck.

彼らのカラー選択は

サーモンピンクとシルバーグレイ、ホワイトのようでした。

家族の洋服もブライズメイズ(花嫁付き添い人）のドレスも

テーブルの花もこれにあわせていました。

It seemed to be their chosen colours were

Salmon Pink, Silver Grey and White.

The family clothes, bridesmaids dresses and

flowers on the table were in keeping.

当日突然、Rの食事の問題 (にんにく、タマネギその他が食べられない) を
伝えたのに、彼に合わせた素敵なお料理を用意していただきました。
ホテルの質の高さを感じます。
例えば、私達の前菜はオニオン入りのスープでしたが、
彼のは下の写真でした。

Suddenly on the day, the hotel found R's problems about ingredients,
however, they still made lovely dishes for him.
I feel the hotel's quality is high.
For instance, our starter was a soup including onion,
although this was his starter below.

英国式ウェディング•ケーキ

"ウェディングケーキには、フランスのクロカンブッシュを使う方式、
アメリカの1段で長方形である方式、イギリスの3段の方式がある。
日本は、主にイギリス式のケーキである。

2段目は来られなかった人達にお裾分けし、頂部は夫婦が冷蔵庫で厳重に保管し、
